Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
I sent them a rudeness notifier for their recent edit reason on that page, which also complained that the page was "butthurt". Apparently they didn't get the message, since they made another edit reason with "Holy crap, this is whiny".
Also, most of their edits involve removing entries without leaving edit reasons. So they probably need a talking too.
Edited by chasemaddiganI've noticed that too. This is a website all about discussion and opinion sharing. This kind of attitude is not acceptable.
They have been suspended.
Now they're edit warring.
-Sigh-
They posted a Short Term Projects thread for the page. So far the only one to respond to them is me; I told them, and I quote,
"The general examples should be deleted, but for the whinier stuff, it'd be best if you take specific examples here so we can discuss them."
What'd they do? Well, clearly not what I suggested...
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThey are both edit-warring. Sent PM's to both Beatles1963 and BKelly95.
This is the entry I posted in Shallow Parody that Beatles 1963 deleted:
- UHF features a trailer for a movie titled Gandhi II. However, it seems to be a generic Blaxploitation film that happens to have Mahatma Gandhi as the lead character. Aside from a quick mention of "passive resistance", the trailer could have literally anyone else and it would be exactly the same.
Beatles' reason for deleting was and I quote "Wolfcastle: That's the joke". Do you think this is a valid entry?
Hi, I like to make myself clear. The reason why I delete that entry is because I felt it was obvious that B Kelly 95 did not get the joke of the Gandhi II scene. The main purpose of that scene was to make fun of the tendency for sequels to become full-blown action films, and what better way to make fun this trend than to have a sequel to a biopic on the most famous non-violence practitioner of all time?
I do not mean to cause any problems and I would like to have more opinions on my proposal.
Edited by Beatles1963You should've discussed it before deleting it again, because doing otherwise was an Edit War.
If the entire thing is a parody of bad action movies in general, maybe it can stay off, but...
Edited by WarJay77 Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSorry.
I just think if you look at the scene as a parody of Gandhi, Blaxploitation, or Actionized Sequel, it qualifies as Shallow Parody because you could have replaced Gandhi with anyone else and it would have been exactly the same.
BTW, I've noticed two other threads in Ask The Tropers about edit wars. What is going on here?
Eventful day?
Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยขQuarantine-Induced Craziness? :P
Anyway, both of you have good points.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness
Beatles 1963 just posted this on the discussion page for Shallow Parody.
"My god this page is full of butthurt."
EDIT: They're also removing examples and calling them "whiny" and "butthurt".
