if it actually works, maybe Brutal Honesty. If Alice sees it as more evidence that the world is against her, maybe I Reject Your Reality or even more Never My Fault.

I don't think we have one for the specific situation though.

IMO, this particular exchange goes for Armor-Piercing Response. IIRC, Anakin shuts up after that.

^ No, he doesn't. He just keeps ranting and arguing with Obi-Wan.

Sound like the 4th bullet point on No, You.

I'd say it's more You Keep Telling Yourself That, which is when the hero calls bullocks on whatever excuse the villain uses to try to justify their actions. But it can also cover situations like the OP, if the villain refuses to accept blame for what they've done. The hero's response is effectively 'bullshit, but keep telling yourself that if it helps you feel better'.

I wouldn't mind failure so much, if I didn't fail so much.

^^^I haven't watched the movie recently, so I'll take your word on it. Anyway, to clarify, I think it was aiming for APR, but I believe it veered into No, You territory.

^Isn't a You Keep Telling Yourself That response more along the lines of, "Uh-huh, sure, whatever you say" rather than telling someone that they're deluded? In this instance, Obi-wan is clearly denying Anakin's accusation instead of saying, well, "you keep telling yourself that, bud".

I think the ROTS example is more of a Shut Up, Hannibal! than You Keep Telling Yourself That, but I'd say the "Uh-huh, whatever" response *is* telling them they're deluded. They both can be, but the difference is more about tone, with You Keep Telling Yourself That being more of an attitude of resignation, rather than defiance or condemnation.

^^The Anakin example is more along the lines of Calling the Old Man Out, or something similar. But yes, You Keep Telling Yourself That is usually a 'yeah, whatevs. Not buying it.'

@Unsung: YKTYT 'isn't resignation, it's a form of rebuke, or admonishment.

In Shimoneta, White Peak tries to sway Ayame by claiming their goals for ero-terrorism were the same, and suggests they join forces. Ayame flatly tells White Peak that they're nothing alike. For her ero-terrorism was about fighting for a cause, whereas White Peak was only using ero-terrorism as an excuse to indulge his fetish for women's underwear.

That was a YKTYT moment. Ayame not only called bullshit on White Peak's bogus claim, she chewed him out for even thinking she'd fall for it.

Anakin is calling Obi-Wan out, but I believe the OP is asking for a trope to cover Obi-Wan's response, not the other way around.

Not resignation as in surrendering to the other person, resignation as in accepting the fact that the other person isn't going to see reason.

Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse when someone uses their traumatic past do justify their selfish behavior and is called out for it
