Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Only WMG is speculative page. Headscratchers is Q&A, while fridge is about audience's realization about the work.
I haven't heard anything about first-person pronouns being allowed in the WMG pages. I find it looks sloppy even there, though. It makes it seem like a forum rather than a collection of theories.
The personal pronoun/This Troper thing wasn't always strictly enforced. If you have a specific page in mind, there's a possibility it's old enough that it predates when it was strictly enforced and nobody noticed or got around to fixing it.
Bumping on this query.
As I was trying to edit the Headscratchers page of How I Met Your Mother and notifying the recent users who used first-person edits, I have been thinking about this.
Since notifying first-person edits is a large undertaking for me, should I create a forum thread about notifying and editing first-person edits on speculative pages?
ααααααα|I DO COMMISSIONS|αααααααI would be down for that, if others agree.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessLike Kuruni said, Headscratchers is not a speculative page. And on Headscratchers pages, it's usually okay, in practice, to use first-person.
Edited by MichaelKatsuro^ Commonplace =/= "okay".
I'm pretty sure it's been said elsewhere that first-person isn't even wanted on Headscratchers, but it's just hard to crack-down on.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness^^ Sure, Headscratchers are not speculative pages, but is it still considered good writing to use first person pronouns on such a page that no one but the History will know you name?
ααααααα|I DO COMMISSIONS|αααααααI remember that Headscratchers is the only namespace that allow first person due to its nature as Q&A, although it should be normal "I, me, my" and not "this troper".
I'm double-checking with the other mods, but I'm pretty sure first-person is discouraged even on those pages.
That still leaves the question of what to do with the ones that are already there.
The one thing we could do is to add signatures to those who added first person pronouns. Unless there's an absolute madlad who would edit them into third person.
Edits before 2010-2011 are tricky though. On the My Immortal spec pages, I just added "anonymous" to those edits.
ααααααα|I DO COMMISSIONS|αααααααI dislike the signature idea because it sort of misses the point of why this is a problem: these aren't supposed to be forum-spaces for talking and debating and talking in first-person, and these additions shouldn't be treated as "personal" edits, untouchable by anyone else. This is a wiki, and once it's posted anyone can change it, save for designated areas like Dethroning Moments or a personal profile page.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI'm still against the idea of editing other people's questions and guesses. What's the point in messing with stuff that old and informal anyway? There are a lot more productive ways for tropers to spend time improving the wiki, like the chronically low-traffic Trope Repair Shop.
Keet cleanupI more-or-less agree, I just think we shouldn't slap signatures on all the examples as if they're supposed to be first-person and act as though we can't ever change them. That doesn't fix any problems, just excuses them.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThis sounds like a query that is better placed in Wiki Talk.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOh... sorry, just realized my memory mixed up. It isn't first person noun that's allowed on Headscratcher, it's natter.
Sorry.
As recommended by Septimus, I made a Wiki Talk thread here: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15729444370A02802400&page=1#1

Coming from this query of mine, but now it's all about speculative pages like WMG, Headscratchers, and Fridge.
Is there a rule where the usage of first-person pronouns are allowed? I have always thought that they're discouraged everywhere but the Forums, Discussions, Reviews, and at the ATT pages, but someone told me it's allowed in speculative pages. And it made me so confused, especially that edits are only mentioned in the pages' Historie, and using such made me think they were my thoughts and speculations.
