I don't know if "the serious film is an action movie" is enough of a distinction from Tom Hanks Syndrome for it's own trope.
Are there enough comedic actors who made that transition to justify creating a new trope? If you think there are, you should start building a sandbox to see how it would look.
But, I don't think Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson would really apply to this hypothetical trope.
Statham began his career in gangster and action movies and only appeared in one comedy (Mean Machine) before his Star-Making Role in The Transporter.
Johnson, meanwhile, immediately established himself as an action star and veered into comedies in the middle of his career to broaden his appeal and has been switching back and forth between action movies and comedy movies ever since.
Edited by civetcatcoffeeGuys, I hate to break the conversation, but shouldn't this be in Trope Finder?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessActually, it looks like they're suggesting we should make a new trope instead?
I'm not sure where you'd go in cases like that outside of Trope Launch Pad.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.@War Jay 77 Mostly just asking where to ask to add the trope, while doing the list of the candidates for it already.
You can suggest it in Trope Launch Pad, but given 2/3 of your suggestions began as action stars, you'll need to get more examples.

So we've got Leslie Nielsen Syndrome for serious actors going for comedy and we've got Tom Hanks Syndrome for comedians going for serious stuff... my question is, why there is nothing for situation where comedians go into action hero roles? Remember times when Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, The Rock and few more used to play straigh-up comedies, then suddenly played one "big" role in an action movie and got repacked into Action Men? Somehow no trope for that...
