Well they're edit warring now, so it'd be best to let the mods handle it from here.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยขThat whole YMMV subpage is kind of a mess of walls of text, complaining, and weasel words. I've suspended Eternity Of Spirit, but it might need some more cleanup.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Looks like Eternity of Spirits is at it again, they've deleted and replaced entries on YMMV.Samurai 8 The Tale Of Hachimaru with no edit reason, and added others that are overtly complain-y and with questionable citations from sources. I've sent them a notifier but this already looks like a pattern.
EDIT: I just noticed that they're actually Edit Warring over Hype Backlash.
Edited by matruzI was going to ask if you'd sent a complaining notifier or anything but if they're edit warring then nevermind.
Bump.
I did send the notifier, BTW they also opened a discussion thread about Hype Backlash, but they've still added it to the page. Is this kosher?
Edited by matruzI have reverted their edits and PM'ed them to discuss their latest edits in this query.
I added all of them based on the views others have expressed concerning the series. It is no secret that Samurai 8 has been struggling a lot critically, especially in Japan, and I feel it should be reflected as such. I don't have any hard personal feelings about the series myself.
As of this writing the series has only released 18 Chapters, the first volume hasn't been released yet, the introductory arc has just finished and the story is starting to pickup steam. It is still way to early to call Hype Backlash, which also involves fans overwhelmingly recommending the series, not just marketing hype. I'd say wait at least a year for that.
Masashi Kishimoto is known to have a very loud Vocal Minority hatedom, so negative fan reactions on message boards should be taken with a grain of salt.
The link you provided as a source for Snark Bait was to a series of tweets of a fan translation of an interview by the editor of The Promised Neverland, Samurai 8 wasn't even mentioned (and even if it was, a single tweet would hardly qualify).
Paraphrasing the mods here: Negative opinions are a thing, but there's a point where the line crosses in to being overtly complaining.
Edited by matruzHype Backlash is fandom built, and never if a studio does the same thing? First time I heard of that technicality. What would the more accurate trope me then.
Kishi's Hatedom is a Vocal Minority? While that might be true regarding Naruto, it sure isn't for Samurai 8. I've consulted multiple Japanese people, and they all say the same rough tune for the series regarding the reception, people are by and large completely ambivalent towards the series, with the lack of positive feedback in spite of insane pre-launch promotion being something of a meme. This is reflected in plenty of things, from the low TOC rankings to the series doing worse than Hinomaru Sumo on Amazon, which is a sign that something went wrong at any rate considering this is Kishimoto we're talking about.
Huh, didn't know about that screw up. Whoops.
In recent weeks there has been some cleanup on Hype Backlash entries due to misuse, precisely because they also should involve the fandom. Check the trope page's description for how to correctly describe it.
For cases of ambivalence (which is different from outright hatedom) from the readers/viewers Broken Base would IMHO be more accurate to describe it, but... this site requires a minimum of six months since the work's release to add it.
I'm pretty sure a lot of the hatedom of Kishimoto from Naruto was transplanted to Samurai 8, as I've seen several people nitpicking it and expressing how they want Samurai 8 to fail in "revenge" for the ending of Naruto. Popularity for a new manga can fluctuate wildly, even if they come from renowned authors, we don't know how sales are going to be for the first volume when it comes out (by then the story may have picked more stride), or if the series will get an anime adaptation in the near future.
Edited by matruzEternity of Spirits using a Blog about Samurai 8 "Failing" on sales as proof that he shouldn't add his entires to YMMV. Its not a place to dump complaining, its a place to add something that can be considered to contested universally, not just from reactions on one side of the globe.

Eternity Of Spirits added several entries to the YMMV page of Boruto, several of these were misuses which I removed explaining why in the comments. But this one in particular stroke me as overtly complainy:
I originally reworded the entry to address that most of these issues are due to a monthly release, since if you read the manga back to back without waiting for the next chapter the pacing becomes better and many fans have said that the manga would be better if it had a weekly release. But they reverted it claiming that "I fail to see how being monthly excuses the poor pacing."
Any thoughts on this or is this just me?
