All three pages say the same thing right on top: the YMMV notice not to add examples to the work page directly, but they can go into the work's YMMV tab.

The only time we don't do examples ever, that I know if, is Flame Bait tropes.

My best guess is that all those tropes say not to list examples on their trope pages, but they got confused and thought that meant no examples were to be listed anywhere. Either way, they should probably be PM'd about this and have the examples put back on the YMMV pages.

This is a known problem with Example Sectionectomy pages.

Yeah, I looked for a rule stating that such examples were allowed, but since I couldn’t find one, I thought they were safe to delete. My mistake.

Can a mod add a pertinent note to this effect on the Example Sectionectomy page to avoid further confusion?

The page does say that sometimes an Example S Ectionectomy means all examples everywhere on the wiki. What makes the page more confusing is that the largest group in the examples section is called "Examples of articles cutting and prohibiting examples," which makes it sound like these articles cannot get any example anywhere on the wiki. My point being that it's ambiguous.

I have never ever ever ever understood why Example Sectionectomy works the way it does, both from an effectiveness and clarity perspective. I'm surprised this sort of thing doesn't happen more often.
