The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
If the hero actually proclaims that they're more evil and proficient than any other villain themselves, see Eviler than Thou.
I mean I suppose that could happen, but that doesn't really have anything to do with the fact that it's the Hero.
I came to browse tropes and play TWEWY, and I'm all out of TWEWY data. (Seriously, my TWEWY data got deleted, I need a hug)It doesn't sound like Eviler than Thou, as this sounds more like it's about how successful they are as villains, rather than how evil they are.
Like this situation would still apply if someone went from a hero to a Well-Intentioned Extremist, and was more successful at accomplishing his insane, misguided goals than the mustache-twirling Card Carrying Villains were at World Domination.
Other than that, I don't know if we actually have a trope for that currently.
Edited by BURGINABCYes, successfulness as a villain is what I'm concerned about, although it's not a requirement that they're better than the other villains, just a distinct possibility as a result of being very effective in general.
I came to browse tropes and play TWEWY, and I'm all out of TWEWY data. (Seriously, my TWEWY data got deleted, I need a hug)We have Redemption Demotion, where an evil character becomes good and gets weaker, as well as Redemption Promotion, where an evil character becomes good and gets stronger. I guess there could be Corruption Promotion and Corruption Demotion tropes as well.
Corruption Promotion would probably work. Do I smell a TLP?
I came to browse tropes and play TWEWY, and I'm all out of TWEWY data. (Seriously, my TWEWY data got deleted, I need a hug)I smell a TLP too. There's an example from Kim Possible where Ron Stoppable is turned evil and outperforms Drakken, but I can't remember the details.
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.I don't know the exact trope, but another example would be in Beast Wars where Rhinox temporarily becomes evil and turns out to be so good at it that he threatens to overthrow Megatron. The Beast Wars character page lists it as Superpowered Evil Side and Brainwashed and Crazy.
What's it called when a hero (whether by Face-Heel Turn or Mind Control or some third thing) becomes a villain, and they're actually REALLY proficient at it, sometimes even better than any other villain in the series/film/whatever?
