Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
I would probably just point them in the direction of the forums and tell them that's not what Discussion Pages are for.
Doesn't need waiting.
~Itsnouse19518505268 Discussion tab is for brining up issues with articles themselves. For discussing works, find a corresponding thread about the work within the Forums.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThe reason I post stuff there is to avoid dealing with idiots on the forums!
Well, that's misuse of the area. Write a review then.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThere's also a bit of rudeness abound, with them calling people "complete idiots" for listing episodes in production order instead of broadcast order, and replying to a comment from 2015, then asking "Why do you care?" to the troper who (understandably) asked why they were replying to a 9-year-old comment. The latter occurred after they were reported and pinged here.
And if I left a review and you complain again like I'm certain you would, that could be something I would not take too kindly!
You are also being rude yourself! And who cares if who I'm responding is from years ago!?! I'm not exactly flaming the guy! And the people I'm referring to as complete idiots is not an actual direct shot at an individual, but a group of people without saying their names, not that I know said individuals anyway.
Look, I like this site, but you people on here are acting like those bleeps over at the Loud House Fandom and especially the late Superior Pics (thank god the latter is dead).
And guess what, you can flame me all you want, but I NEVER get people's accounts blocked. Especially since they'll just create a new one anyway.
Right now, I'm adding synopsis' to Centurions episodes. So I doubt I'll leave another comment on discussion again for awhile.
Edited by Itsnouse19518505268Golden rule of this site is "don't be a dick." Calm down, maybe step away from the site for a little bit. No one's being rude here; in fact, people are trying to advise you on what you should do.
UFO's comment was partly on behalf of the mod(s) who are viewing this query and might decide to suspend you for rudeness if you continue lashing out and making threats.
"Why do you care?"
As the person who you responded to, the reason is because you are not using Discussion pages correctly. Discussion pages are for edits that seem questionable and small things that happen on that individual page. The Forums are more for in-depth discussions. The fact that you were using the former for the latter's purposes is against the rules.
Also, we don't care about the LH Fandom page or whatever the second thing you said was. We have our rules here.
Thirdly, no one said anything about getting accounts blocked. Not sure why you added that.
Dude, calm down. As the others have said, nobody is being rude to you here, we are just explaining how the site works.
Our first rule is "Don't Be a Dick", so don't be rude to others no matter what.
Another rule is to no import drama. Whatever happens in another site must stay out of TV Tropes.
Also, if anybody is rude to you, be it in a review or anywhere else on the site, just report them, don't be rude back. You will just breaking the same rules that they are breaking as well.
This person seems like they are very familiar with the site already, are they a ban evader?
Already hollered, so let's leave it to the mods.
Would like to add that most of these posts not only using the Discussion page not for intended purpose, but are also mainly to complain.
TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup^^ They did mention banned users creating new accounts, so they might have actually done that. If this is a ban evader, I'd be interested in finding out who.
I don't think they're ban-evading, it's not the usual pattern I see with those. They edited very little with no obvious agenda. More likely a reader who decided to make an account so they could comment on things that annoyed them.
That talk of blocking accounts and new ones being made must have been with Reddit or another social media site in mind, you can't block accounts here.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years. Not sure what kind of blocking they refer to, but a sure-sounds-like-them has now been spamming me off-site about this, which I've made a separate private report about.
e: Yeah, it's the same guy
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupBump?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThis is also, you know. Kinda xenophobic.
Edited by Larkmarn Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Maybe we need a new thread to round up the more serious issues?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness^ How is that xenophobic? All he said was that Spider-Man did the trope better.
It's since been removed, but he went on a rant about how dumb the show is and if "the French had any brain cells" they would do whatever and basically blamed the success on the show due to French stupidity.
It was kinda unhinged for a rant about a kid's show.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.It being removed means they're likely still watching the thread.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI think at this point we just need to leave it to moderation.
It was hollered the other day with no response, which is why I bumped. I'm trying to get mod attention.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness^^ Agreed, except for the (possibly broader question) of what should be done with this kind of conversational discussion posts.
There's dozens of these clogging up Discussion pages, ranging from hateful, to ignorant, to inane, to benign, to accurate corrections. We as troper's can't do anything about them directly, and honestly I'm not sure if there's anything we should be doing.
Flagging them? If so, which ones? There are some that clearly had to go (and probably more that have to), but I don't know what the rules are about the more conversational ones or the outright rants.
Edited by Larkmarn Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I mean, they are against the rules as far as I'm aware. But the broader question belongs at Wiki Talk.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI was under the impression that Itsnouse19518505268 had been suspended. Mostly because someone with a very similar style contacted me on Reddit ranting at me that I had got their "friend" suspended. They went on to demand I "unblock" them, as if I had that power.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.I suppose they could have been? I know there's been issues in the past of the mods not publicly stating such.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness"they're likely still watching the thread."
They've explicitly quoted a later post in another angry off-site message, so they surely are.
Moderators can remove Discussion messages IIRC, so we may as well go over and flag which are the most inappropriate (if not all of them)
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup^^^ If they have been suspended, I'd think mods would keep it in their file and bring it up in EB if they decided to appeal.
They're trying to separate their TV Tropes account with their Reddit account (and likely seeking out those whose handles match or nearly match on both sites) but they aren't exactly being slick about it. My best guess as to why they're demanding people unblock them is that they think this is Fandom. This Is a Wiki, but it's not Fandom.
Either way, I say wait for a mod to decide while flagging offending Discussion messages for removal.
Itsnouse19518505268 has left a lot of comments on discussion pages, hardly any of which have to do with editing the pages, they are mostly giving their opinion on entries found on these pages.
I don't know if this breaks any rules, so I haven't contacted them about it, but it is taking away from these page's purpose.
