Just going to add that Cwallace 135 has made SandBox.Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Noah and has added it to SandBox.Character Specific Pages Workshop, in addition to some other characters.

My suspicions are confirmed that they're shoehorning tropes to get the bit count high enough to create a page for Noah. They also shoehorned in enough examples to create a separate page for Consul N, who is a separate incarnation of Noah.

Edit: And now they sent me a notifier for an inappropriate edit reason in retaliation, along with an overly-long defence of their additions that they should have brought to the discussion page.

They reworded their Color Motif example enough for it to not be an edit war, but their edit reason is really rubbing me the wrong way.

I'm not too familiar with Color Motif, but it doesn't even appear to be an example. Isn't it suppose to be for individual things and not comparing two separate entities?

Their original edit was hardly any better. I had removed that one for being redundant with Red Is Heroic.

Have you sent them additional notifiers on Square Peg Round Trope since removing the examples?

They finally used the discussion tab, so I'm hoping I can get this sorted without having to send more notifiers.

I barely added anything for N. The Moebius page was quite long, and the character count was 57,000 so it was long enough for his own page.

Yes. I am trying to get Noah his own page. I know that character-specific pages aren’t about significance, but they are about popularity (it’s true and you all know it). I feel like if there are characters pages for both Noah and N, more people will recognize the game. I put it on sandbox for this very reason. Plenty of sandbox character specific pages are below the character count. Is that not why they’re there?

You should probably read Character Specific Pages, because nowhere in there does it say they get made based off of popularity or significance.

And I doubt that the third game of a popular RPG series from Nintendo needs any assistance from us to "get recognized", whatever that means.

Well, it does say, and I quote, “…but some characters are so popular, have a lot of depth, appear in so many different works of their respective franchise, or just plain Troperiffic, that they can provide an entire page to just themselves.” The characters in this game are amazing and have a lot of depth, so that’s why I feel like they deserve their own page.

We don't make pages dedicated to a single character on the arbitrary basis that they "deserve" one, we do it when a general Characters page gets too big and that it can be reduced by giving a character with a huge folder their own page. You're taking it backward by shoe-horning tropes just so the character would have the minimum required to have their page. "The character is amazing" is not a valid reason because it's purely subjective. Characters.Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Ouroboros isn't close to hit the size limit.

If anything the bit about popularity should be removed, since it's actively misleading as the rest of our rules have absolutely nothing to do with character popularity.

Agreed. We've had similar issues with other tropers inflating pages because it was simply a character they liked or thought was popular; I believe it was Resident Evil last time.

Yeah this kind of happened with Resident Evil twice here and here (for those interested in reading) and led to me undertaking a massive cleanup that resulted in 9 of 12 individual character pages getting cut and merged into more general characters pages. Of the three that remained after clean up, only one is a main protagonist.

I think the most important bit on Character Specific Pages is the last bullet point on the qualifiers. Other options must have been tried first. This includes cleaning up a page of misuse and non-character tropes and splitting a page into groups rather than individuals. It seems many tropers forget the clean up part because clean up is what led to so many Resident Evil pages getting cut. There were a lot of non-character tropes and some pages had quite a lot of misuse. I don't know how creating more CSPs would help make a game/franchise/work get more well known. We're not like other wikis, we don't spotlight character and work pages. Most of the people coming to a character page are likely already familiar with the work.

It seems to be a matter of folks projecting their importance of this site to the rest of the world.

^^ Good point, making a Characters page specifically for Xenoblade 3's protagonist will not contribute in making the game more popular that it already is because only people who care about Xenoblade are gonna look into it anyway. TV Tropes can make people discover new works (I discovered at least 3), but it's mostly through the trope's page, not media pages. We're going back to the main point, shoe-horing tropes for the sake of making a page bigger is not a good way to contribute.
