Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

As far as I'm concerned, Useful Notes shouldn't even have subpages as they're neither works or tropes.
Independently, Laconic.Australian Politics and Laconic.American Political System are kind of ROCEJ violation as they're made to snark about real world events.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupFor what it’s worth, I’ve seen laconics for creators being cut recently, so this presumably falls under the same umbrella.
Just cut it. Laconic should (in theory) be used for works only.
I swear Loid, you can't draw worth shit!^ They are also commonly used for tropes.
Edited by ArivneMaybe run them by the ROCEJ thread just to be safe.
I thought laconics were just for tropes, a one sentence summary of the concept (in theory). Never heard of works having them, and certainly UN pages shouldn't have them.
I didn't choose the troping life, the troping life chose meYeah, technically no namespace needs a laconic, but I stand by my personal belief that they should only be for tropes if used at all (though work ones are rather harmless and mostly JFF). There's no benefit to having a laconic for something like UN pages.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWe all have differing opinions of what laconics should be used for. They aren't harming the wiki, so why not keep them around?
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. For Useful Notes, the entire point is to describe something in detail. Laconics do the exact opposite and I'm also pretty sure that UN pages don't get subpages anyway. It just makes sense that laconics attached to UN pages provide no real benefit, because you won't get any info out of the laconic. It's not like describing a work or trope, that can be kinda helpful even if they're very often badly written — it's a one sentence description of a subject we're trying to teach about for an entire page, and it just doesn't work.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessMaybe a Wiki Talk on the scope of laconics is in order?
I didn't choose the troping life, the troping life chose meMaybe.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIMO they should be limited to works and tropes.
Created a thread here.

Do Useful Notes pages need laconics? I've stumbled across a few and I thought the purpose of them was to summarize tropes, since not all are intuitive and some have long descriptions. You know what you're getting at UsefulNotes.American Political System just from the name.
If the answer isn't "no", is the laconic for Australian Politics kosher given that it's picking fun at it?
