I think Jeralt will be the Jagen, and he will leave the party after you reach the monastery, similar to how Gunter left the party early on in Fates. The Jagen characters don't really need to stick around anyway since their purpose is to make the early game easier.

I think most people hate the idea of units leaving outside of your control.

Like, having a Jagen leave the party would be WORSE, because any exp you fed them is just gone. You don’t even have a slightly better character to show for it.

At least Gunter left before the game proper started.

Rinkah is unforgiveable though.

The worst part is that he's still blatantly alive on Birthright because he doesn't appear in the afterlife.

Anankos really wanted that Old Man Meatsuit.

Speaking of Gunter, I really hope D.C. Douglas comes back to voice someone. It would be great if he voiced a playable character, but it would also be great if he got to voice a villain and was allowed to chew a lot of scenery.

I really liked his take on Gharnef.

Man, speaking of Warriors villains, I still think it's great that they singlehandedly made Iago actually entertaining and fun just by forgoing any real seriousness and having him ham it up. Really wish we'd gotten a villains DLC pack like Hyrule Warriors had...even if he was a Moveset Clone of Robin which is likely, his lines alone would have made it worth.

I mean, the guy named after a Shakespearean character having theatrical mannerisms works so well.

Hoping that once Iago is on the scene in Heroes it takes cues from his Warriors characterization. tongue

HailMuffins: Good luck finding any pre-3DS games for less than €150 due to a combination of low print-runs and devoted fanbase.

If you have a Wii U, you can get The Blazing Blade (which was released in English as just Fire Emblem), The Sacred Stones, and Shadow Dragon digitally for a reasonable price. The Blazing Blade is the first one to be released outside Japan, and so it was deliberately designed to be newbie-friendly, though I haven't played it myself.

Here is a fun game I thought up (I might not be the first to come up with it though):

If every Fire Emblem protagonist was a student of Byleth, what would be their best subject and worst subject? In addition, what would be the one test/essay question they would struggle on?

The idea of Byleth failing a Fire Emblem protagonist based on their character flaws is Dark Humor in my opinion.

Byleth would fail Conquest!Corrin so hard over their decision-making skills.

Nino is aces at the practical magic stuff, but her written tests are just abysmal. She needs to learn to apply herself to her schoolwork.

Sigurd would be the one who would answer "attack it" on certain questions. Test/essay questions that focuses on exploring "what is right in certain situations" or are about flaws that got him into the barbecue competition are things I can imagine he would struggle on.

Let's see:

  • Sigurd probably wouldn't do well when it comes to pacing himself. Byleth would probably suggest he slow down lest he suffer burnout before the end of the campaign.
  • I suspect Canas would do very, very well academically. Really good at studying, but should probably chill out a little lest he get buried by an avalanche of hard work.
  • The Fates Avatar would probably do very well in acrobatic fighting. No one else can flip and spin and transform their body into dragon parts like they can.
  • Eirika and Ephraim probably get high grades in synergy with each other.
  • Navarre flunks teamwork. No question about that.

I imagine Ike would fail on common knowledge-related questions, at least in his youth. Greil certainly failed to make him learn anything else than mercenary-related stuff.

But as of Radiant Dawn, he'd probably only fail etiquette classes.

Arvis would be the one student who would be The Ace in everything and expected to do great things in the future, only to turn up at the reunion years later a husk of what he once was, and a far cry from what he was back in the academy.

[up][up]By contrast, Caeda probably aces etiquette. And anything that involves human interaction.

Fates Avatar does well when it comes to architecture, considering the work they can put into their Castle.

Pretty much every protagonist probably does well in charisma, considering the type of foes they rally their forces against. Takes a very charismatic person to get others to take up arms against the likes of Anankos, Grima, Ashera, Duma, etc.

Speaking of classes, here's a thought: what if the Fire Emblem amiibos cause the amiibo characters to show up as teachers or supervisors? Maybe as supervisors, they can increase the effectiveness of certain teaching plans or something like that.

Robin aces strategy and interpersonal relations. probably completely slacks off during mythology or any other symbol-based interpretation class. Also freaks out in psychology and dreams.

I would imagine that Naesala would be the student who ALWAYS cheats on class.

[up]Probably cheats off of Reyson the most.

Berkut (not a protagonist or a playable unit save for Heroes, I know) probably wouldn't do well in socializing; he'd get points off for reading into things that aren't there and being prone to jumping to conclusions.

Probably gets comments like "One day, your attitude is going to get you or someone you love hurt."
