Here's something. Why does Minoriko blow up at Reimu when Reimu mentions that she smells tasty? (Well, actually, Reimu says that "something smells tasty" while Minoriko is nowhere to be seen, but apparently just offscreen, so it's even tamer) I mean, she then says that she takes pride in her smell, and that her perfume is made with fresh sweet potatoes.
Shouldn't she take what Reimu said as a compliment, since obviously her perfume is working perfectly?
I have a message from another time...Because she's a goddess and thus haughty/because she's a goddess and thus feels the need to prove herself. In any case, she apparently interpreted it as "I'm gonna eat yoouu".
Gensokyo Food Chain!
Youkai > Humans > Goddesses
I have a message from another time...Since she notices that she's a shrine maiden, maybe she only attacks because Reimu is kind of like the competition. Even if we still don't know who/what the Hakurei god is.
If it was a normal person she may have been grateful and invited them in for some totally awesome food. But, it would be like seeing a rival sports fan when you take sports way seriously (its your life) and then having them compliment you.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersFour Seasons' House takes this idea to the logical conclusion.
Danbooru House Minoriko is another Slice of Life series that focuses on the Aki Sisters (and a cardboard box)

^ The danbooru comic on danbooru is kind of weird but still good. The four season's one is good too if you suspend your disbelief like a bridge.
Also, another theory for the eating thing: Minoriko had heard that during the Imperishable Night Incident, an incident solver kept trying to eat everyone and was worried it was Reimu.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI like that idea, it might have to be my new canon.
WHO IS THIS LOSERWell this sure wasn't worth geting like two hours of sleep for.
sorry faw
WHO IS THIS LOSERSo, Aki. They... don't really do much. Mostly just get beaten up by Letty. Sora no Amagumo has them doing manzai that's lame even in the original Japanese, and Tag Dream has them as weak and bitter. That's about all I can recall seeing them in that doesn't involve Rapattu.
Maybe they're meant to be Those Two Guys you love to hate?
WHO IS THIS LOSERTo avoid making this too disappointing, pictures:
- Adultish
- Fields
- Yakuza
- This happens a lot
- Pretty. Also kind of creepy
- Fancy
- True, true
- I agree
- Incest
- Envy
- Technically not ecchi
- Scenery
- Also kind of skirting the line
- Grapes
- Was that ever a common resolution?
- Dogs
- I find this deeply confusing
- This happens a lot
The worst part is that they still have more images than most series ever will.
Well, I knew next to nothing about the Aki sisters before, but I think it’s interesting you described them as unlikable. That just... makes me like them more. I always seem to take interest in unpleasant characters. Your drawings are off to a good start by the way.
And I've got nothing more to add other than how hungry all this talk of sweet potatoes and harvest is making me feel.
At least some of those pictures make me smile.
Observation: In the Aki sisters anthology, the non-Japanese portrayals of the sisters were overwhelmingly positive and focused on their autumn theme by having them follow the example of Lilly White, make some great wine, be invited for an interview with Akyuu despite their unimportance because Akyuu thinks autumn is terribly important, star in a sad little story about loss and be held a festival for at the end of which Marisa is all like "yo we still care about you".
Meanwhile, I can't read the Japanese, but there were huge amounts of Minoriko looking all "grr" and Shizuha calming her down or being all "grr" as well.
Anyway doctor, then picdump. *drags himself off*
PS: Thanks, Higanbana. ._.
Even if the Aki sisters were meant to be hateable, the Yorihime sisters kinda fill the role of "actually unlikeable antagonist" among the fandom...
coulda sworn I had something more insightful than that

The ony thing I can say is, do you think Minoriko should be one of the "Busty" Touhou characters, being a godess of abundance and all?
I make video games! Or plan to, anyway.Fertility/harvest goddesses are traditionally depicted with large and/or large numbers of breasts.
...why am I in this thread
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Ahahaha, now that cheered me up.
And yes. Judging by the picture used in the character sheet, and my overall impression, Minoriko is a little on the busty side.
Just a little? I think she looks really busty in that picture, just that it's not from the side view...
Give me cute or give me...something?^^^^ As far as arbitrary reasons why some Touhou characters are busty and others aren't, that's fairly un-arbitrary.
What about Shizuha?
And would the Akis get a big boost in power if they lived in the USA or would it be about the same? *

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI wonder how they managed to be so unpopular when compared to other Stage 1 Bosses. Bad luck at the Superpower Lottery? Lack of quirky traits? Ordinary character designs? Lack of a group to be associated with besides each other? Too old to join Team 9?

^ Shizuha is a complete and utter satellite character, and Minoriko lacks anything particular interesting and, as I said, doesn't display many, if any, likable traits, which I think conflicts with their design basis... In other words, I think they are simply victims of bad character design.
^^ Hey, would Minoriko fall under Thanksgiving? Because if so... that would be quite a boost in faith right there.
^^^ Well, I also consider her a little short and not quite adult yet, so to me she's only "relatively" busty and not Yuuka-style-ridiculous-anime-bazongas-with-a-tiny-waist busty. Or you could just take it as an understatement.
I literally got nothing.
I suppose it would be funny if she was portrayed as a terrible dancer but that would really be more of an English pun.
