On the RP front, I confronted Vast on the whole selection of the GL ring, pushing to have Nodoka become the GL instead of Chachamaru. He brushed it off, wanting to have Chacha become the GL because of a sub-plot he had made for her. A sub-plot which had no fucking relevation at all in how you actually become a GL. Well, here's the conversation, starting with those he had selected for the last remaining rings.

Yes, he made us make Trailers for the RP, which I always find pointless in Literature. Furthermore, he went on to call my opposition of his choice a pep talk. Pep Talk! It's not even a good reason to have Chacha get the Green ring at all! Thinking about it last night made my heart literally hurt as if I had a minor cardiac arrest. Fortunately it turned to be the flu.
The only reason I'm not walking out of this goddamn stupid RP is because he's a friend and it's some sort of anniversary for us, not at all based on the Nostalgia Critic's own anniversary. I can however state this: Vast is an idiot and I suppose I can call myself one for staying. And I never did get my answer why he thought Honya deserved the Indigo ring instead.

Well, there's not really a whole lot I can say to that. I would say that I have... except that the traits I speak of rather strongly overlap with some of Batman's. There's also the fact that, kinda like Bruce Wayne, there's some duality going on here. There's Batman, who is pretty much what you saw... and then there's Professor Negi Springfield, who despite being a stern teacher is a lot more openly caring about others, and genuinely... well, more Negi-like. Whether it's Batman putting on a kiddy facade for his class, or Negi sealing off his emotions when he dons the cowl... that's for the reader to decide.
@Eva: If not for the use of magic and his noted profession, there would be no reason to believe that this Batman is not Bruce Wayne!Batman before Negi's name comes up.
...Well, besides the meta ones.
Let's say that you switched around Setsuna and Konoka's backstories. There would probably be a lot of changes in Setsuna's personality because of how wrapped up she is in her assumed role in canon, but she wouldn't start trolling people, and there's no reason to believe she'd have an interest in fortune telling.
Even giving Negi a similar background to Bruce Wayne's, he should still be Negi. And canon!Negi did have familiarity with tragedy. Having a different tragedy make him take on the usual Batman's attitude doesn't make a lot sense.

I know how you feel just a few weeks I got sick. What was worse was I got sick on Finals Week. I had a nasty cough that went on for two weeks, talking was difficult. Part of my finals was an oral exam discussion with my Japanese Teacher.

@Eva Unit 01: The thing is, Negi's backstory is already like that of Batman's. Suffered a tragedy in childhood, spent life accumulating power in attempt to get revenge (no matter what Negi told himself, he would not have gone behind his teacher's backs to learn a spell to kill spiritual entities if he wasn't looking for it). It's just that Negi is ten. He hasn't had time to see how terrible the world can be like Bruce Wayne did prior to becoming Batman. Initially, Negi wouldn't have much difference between his guises. That would come with time. But does Negi even swear?

Okay, give me some time around lunch and I might be writing a helping treatment for Negi Batman dealing with that continuity premise. It might help you, I guess.
