I'd certainly vote for Torg's band to take that crown.
So... I'm noticing nobody else brought it up, but was I the only one who thought Phoenix the minute it was revealed Oasis had pyrokinetic powers?
Considering her last major arc was called Phoenix Rising, it's probably safe to say you're not the only one.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.You'd think that. Then again, I was surprised to find nobody'd added a Wild Mass Guessing related to it until the pyrokinesis was revealed. I'll admit it didn't occur to me until then, and then I spent a long time just smacking myself for missing the obvious.
Though to be fair, I started reading the strip maybe four years ago. I nearly drowned in the archives bringing myself current.
Okay, how long did Pete spend drawing this?
"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara HarukoThe Minion Master makes me giggle.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Oh. Now that's a punch to the gut.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Actually, it looks more like a punch to the face >.>
And... uhm... hmm. Are we seeing some sort of Shocking Swerve variant of Cerebus Syndrome, or..?
Punch to the soul.
Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.... you know, if that really did happen, it... doesn't look promising for Oasis. She's hit the wrong button on Torg, this time. Doesn't matter how screwed up in the head she is, I think it's beyond even Torg to forgive her this one.
Zoe and Riff can't be dead. This is Sluggy Freelance. Zoe and Riff have been on the main cast for a decade. Pete wouldn't kill them off just like that.
Right?
...right?
Well, it's actually hard to say. I don't think he'd kill of either (at least not permanently), especially after Zoe finally realized how she felt about Torg, but it's hard to come up with a reason that the necklace would be off Zoe if she wasn't dead.
My only guesses that don't make me unutterably depressed is that either the DFA can't transport a magical artifact or she is dead but they'll find a way to bring her back.
EDIT: If the rest of this dream turns out to be prophetic, that means Torg may be heading for death, as well.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Actually, I'm wondering whether this really is a repressed memory, or if the Fate Spiders and/or Father Time started messing around with everyone's memories. Afterall, when we saw people in that pose before, there was never any indication that it was from Torg's POV. I'm thinking that, to further "Plan A," the Fate Spiders or someone/something else may have monkeyed around with people's heads, planting subtly altered fake memories alongside the real ones. In this scenario, Gwynn really was holding up one of Oasis's daggers back at the wreckage site, but now both Torg and Gwynn remember it as being Zoe's necklace.
But of course that's just a theory.
"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara HarukoWell, Friday's comic is up.
Wow. I'm reserving judgement on Pete for now... but wow. That takes some serious guts. Really, really serious guts. This is probably the most depressing end to an arc he's ever pulled, bar none.
... I have no words for this.
And so I was reborn... and no-one noticed anything had changed.Well shit, either Zoe got a discretion shot like alt-Zoe did or she is still heavily burned and needs to heal.
As for the firing squad, I still subscribe to the heavily belief that until you see the body, the character is still alive. Stupid and idealistic yeah, but if comics have taught me anything fictional characters are capable or surviving a lot.
I'm not so sure. I mean, let's face it... Pete's had no problems shaking up the status quo before. He came awfully close to getting rid of Aylee for good, once.
This may actually be it. It's hard to know whether to applaud the man or fill his inbox with flames for resolving the Cannot Spit It Out in the same arc he kills the character.
... I wanna say "so this is how you get people to actually believe you're gonna kill off your main characters", but... I'm starting to be a little unsure about their survival as well. Hmmm...
I dunno. Riff is based on Pete Adams deceased best friend. Even if he is killing it off, it may be to much for him to handle showing the body.
I'd rather the world betray me, but I won't betray the world.I really don't know either way, and curse Abrams for pulling out the filler now of all times. The break would have been emotionally easier before the "resolution" of this arc.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.I dunno whether to give up on this comic forever or see how it resolves. I'm still ridiculously doubtful that he's actually killed them off, though it's rather frustrating because it doesn't really resolve Zoe's plotlines except for dramatic punch if she is completely dead.
I guess whether I tune in Monday or not will make that decision for me.
Why would Monday make the decision? The next two weeks are going to be filler while he takes a break.
Can I say that I love the third panel of Riff? He radiates sorrow, protectiveness, and helpless defiance in all the right amounts.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.I have to say, yes. Pretty nice drawing there.
The filler matters since it's probably going to be light goofy humor in stark contrast to the drama we just saw.
And probably have Riff and Zoe.
You could make a crowner for it. :P You forgot to add the Sixth Ranger, Chaz.
