So, first off, this is probably one of the most convoluted trope descriptions I've ever read. Second it has the redirects of Vain and Vanity despite not seeming to have a real connection to the sins in question as almost all the other tropes of this naming scheme are about someone wanting to become X. The two are separate ideas. Related, but separate. That said, I'm not sure what fits or what doesn't because the whole description is a mess.

There's also the problem that all the links to the trope are badly formatted, badly spelled, and added at random to tropes that are completely unrelated. I'm halfway tempted to just cutlist this monstrosity if not for the fact that there's definitely an in universe longing to be pretty for some characters.

I'm just not sure that this trope is about it.

^You are not doing this to repair the tropeyou are doing to this to legitimize my ban...

The trope definitios is very clear. I am pretty sure you are the only one that doesn undertant it... look the page history it was fixed by me and other tropers that didnt had a problem understanding it.

With all respect I think you are the only one that doesnt get the trope.

Proposed modification, remember I tend to be liberal with the chainsaw: Rewrite for description, assuming I got the jist of the trope right from the title. That description was mostly a rambling essay on the nature of beauty, rather than a motivation trope (which I assume it to be):

A character wants to be beautiful. They want to be one of The Beautiful People so badly that it turns into their greatest desire such that they want it more than anything else. Morals, family, riches all fall by the wayside in order to achieve this, even if those were the original ends desired with beauty. This is when a person becomes motivated almost entirely by a desire to become beautiful.

Fight smart, not fair.

I am doing this because I don't think any trope needs to have ten foot notes to define it. I think the trope can be greatly condensed and written up much more clearly than it is at present. I made this topic because of the grammatical and formatting messes that you left scattered around the wiki. I am trying to clean this up and make it readable.

EDIT: Deboss just defined the whole trope in a paragraph. That's about all it really needs.

^That is a lie.

As it can be seen from the page history: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Main.IJustWantToBeBeautiful

other tropers hdid a hard work helping me with the grammar.I think you are seeing things given that I spell checked the trope twice.

Besides it has an esay about beauty as introduction becuase it is a meta-trope.

I agree it can be more laconic and some hottips can be removed but otherwise calling it a monstrosity is an exageration. and a prove you just want to legitimaize my ban

I still don't understand why type B is necessary when it's effectively covered by all the makeover tropes. Didn't I ask you this when it was still in YKTTW?

If you'd like to add some more prose, I wouldn't mind. I have a very succinct writing style that's not as good for the more complex tropes. And it winds up looking very short.

It doesn't need an essay on the meaning of beauty. I Just Want to Be Beautiful, judging by the name is a Motivation Trope. An essay on what beauty means is irrelevant to the trope. If you want to make a trope about how beauty is different from culture to culture I suggest YKTTWing Beauty Dissonance.

@Heart mint At first glance they do but I did a long exxplnation here in how type B is diferent from make over tropes

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CanonicalListOfSubtleTropeDistinctions

@Deboss I actualy didnt defined beauty The only think I did was explaining the benefits of beauty and the reasons people want beauty

You are trying to lump in far too many thing unrelated to the trope and the core trope itself suffers for it. Long essays like that just obscure the trope. They bury what we're actually trying to see. Trying to force other tropes into one when they don't quite fit is the same thing. I think Vanity could be a trope. I don't think it's this trope. It might be the reason for this trope, but it's not this trope.

^I diasgree I think the concept is very clear. at much I guess some stuff can be removed like the hottips but otherwise I dont see why the introductions is wrong given that this is a meta trope.

The essay explains the reasonns of the motivation of beauty in a fictional settings.I think tropers are smart enough to get It.It doesnt realy define beauty the essay even admits beauty is undefiable.

For that reason we have a laconical description. anyways.

I admit the despcrition can be a bit more laconic tough.

The only distinction I'm seeing there is that for it to belong on I Just Want to Be Beautiful, there has to be some kind of authorial intent for the character to be a wish fulfillment character. This doesn't work because you can't prove creator intent one way or another sans Word of God. For that matter, it's still entirely redundant because it's pretty clear that makeover sequences were written to be wish fulfillment.

I mean, seriously. Give me an example of a makeover/beautiful wish fulfillment character that doesn't belong in either Beautiful All Along (or Suetiful All Along, as it were) or The Beautiful People.

"My trope"? It's not your trope. It ceased to be your trope the moment you posted something in YKTTW. If you insist on being possessive, you may end up taking a vacation.

Cut the "lick Eddie's boots" and "trying to get me banned" crap. That's an official warning, by the way. In any case, right now we're discussing how to fix a particular trope that a few people think is broken.

Don't cutlist it, as it will not be cut. It's a valid trope, just needs a bit more polish, that is all.

A. Martyr act now? Seriously, dude, you just need a break to give you a chance to calm down. Go do something else for an hour or two. Relax a bit.

B. We do seem to think that there is a legitimate trope here—some things just need to be fixed is all. So, no, the cut list is not the place for this, at least not unless we decide to give up.

I don't think the trope needs to be cut. The description needs some liberal pruning, but there's a trope in there somewhere. We're all pretty sure of that. We just need to get rid of the excess.

No Dude, Your formatting is just terrible.

Stop waxing so philosophical, unless it's useful, and only then, keep it to a sentence. You have too many similar things, and type B just seems absolutely extraneous. It's a good, solid trope, your description is simply awful.

Edit: Also, Hottips are a no no in most instances.
