I found Mirror Mask to be highly visually imaginative. If you want to see loads of visual imagination, you can't go wrong with anything by Terry Gilliam. Time Bandits and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus have Elseworlds of a sort, and if you want symbolic imagery you can't go wrong with Brazil or The Fisher King. Though most of those are more adventure films or dramas than action films.

Journalism is just a gun. It's only got one bullet in it, but if you aim right, that's all you need.Seconding the Terry Gilliam recommendation. His films are always very imaginative.
If I were to write some of the strange things that come under my eyes they would not be believed. ~Cora M. Strayer~I was going to give Imaginarium a pass, but i think i'll reconsider now. I already saw Time Bandits, it was good.

Pages Needing ImagesYou actually thought that movie was good?? I thought it was on par with one of the worst I've ever seen, especially the ending.
Anyway, this isn't about movie bashing.
I would strongly suggest to anyone to watch the movie ink.
I'm looking for Western films similar in theme to the video game Red Dead Redemption.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."You've watched the Dollars trilogy, I presume? That and other Eastwood stuff are pretty good. And the classic Wayne films like True Grit sometimes fit.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Something clever and interesting, not a drama, and new enough that I won't quirk my head a the camera work.
Mura: -flips the bird to veterinary science with one hand and Euclidean geometry with the other-Should I bother watching John Carter?
Anyone have any less well known, good film noir recommendations?
Imagine Rakan applying Calling Your Attacks to doing paperwork.~Anarchy Rakan for the hell of it COMMISSION THIS BRIDGE!~EHKWell, the classics are certainly less heard of today, liked D.O.A., Gun Crazy, The Big Sleep, The Set Up, The Big Heat, Night And The City...

Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!I've seen all of those, except Gun Crazy, so I'll check that out.
Imagine Rakan applying Calling Your Attacks to doing paperwork.~Anarchy Rakan for the hell of it COMMISSION THIS BRIDGE!~EHKI'm looking for some high action and fun cult classics that my friends and I can watch. We currently have seen the Evil Dead trilogy, the Mad Max trilogy, Battle Royale, and the Running Man.
Try The Fifth Element.

Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.Good sci-fi/fantasy entry-level stuff for someone who's seen like 10 movies in his entire life and has no clue what he's getting into.
I'd like some good French movies to watch with my friends this evening. Films we have already watched: District13, Un Prophete, Delicatessen...
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. The Young Girls Of Rochefort is good, less-serious fare.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!I'm looking for recent action movies with old-school fight scenes (wide-angle rather than close-up shots and completely still cameras whenever hand-to-hand combat breaks out). I just want to know that someone who's still alive knows how to handle a camera properly during a fight scene.
To clarify, I'm looking for the exact opposite of the camera work in Taken, The Bourne Trilogy and Batman Begins... couldn't tell what was going on in any of those.
Jesus saves. Gretzky steals, he scores!Sure, animated films count as long as their action sequences aren't fucked up. I loved Kung Fu Panda, so something like that would definitely hit the spot.
Jesus saves. Gretzky steals, he scores!I didn't see Kung Fu Panda, but Tintin has a swordfight between duelling shipping cranes and a single-take five-minute chase scene. I don't remember having any trouble following the action... And Spielberg is the last person I'd expect to jump on a modern cinematography fad anyway.

The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeablesingle-take five-minute chase scene
By the way, this chase scene involves land, water, and air and is one shot.
V Woops, must not have processed that.

Pages Needing ImagesThat's what I meant by 'single-take'... :P
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI really like art films: Parajanov, Fellini, Woody Allen, Tarkovsky, Wes Anderson. Any recommendations for anything even slightly similar in style?
I'm wondering if there's stuff similar to Tron Legacy in the other world/effects and visuals heavy/imaginative action ways.
