Mat's first new Projector of 2021, about the 2020 film Skylin3s:
I’ve watched him for over 12 years. It’s amazing how far he’s gone now.
It helps that he changed his style after channel awesome. He commented lately in an interview that for his old views he exaggerated his own personality for his videos.
Optimism is a duty.I think making Projector was overall a really good move for Mathew. It allowed him to branch away from the typical Caustic Critic style of reviews popular at the time, and gave the chance to cover films that otherwise may not have gotten that wide of coverage. I think his work is very underrated nowadays, which is a bit of a shame. I think some people just never bothered to give him a look past his earlier Bad Movie Beatdown reviews.
And I still like some of his BMB stuff.
Nah, fuck BMB. It was far too much like Nostalgia Critic and Projector had always been better. It’s a shame people still harass him over not doing any episodes.
Overall, he’s the second best critic that site ever had, first being Lindsay Ellis, of course.

BMB was the NC formula distilled to its purest form in a way. No skits, just witty criticism with some background research. I suppose the closest thing to BMB nowadays would be Cinematic Excrement (with less exaggeration). Among the channels I follow anyway.
I do agree that Projector reviews allow him to be much more constructive though. You can tell he enjoys it a lot more too.
