I posted a theoretical Farfetch'd evo back in the general topic. I'll re-post it here.
EDIT: Found it.
- Name: Absur'd
- Type: Fighting/Flying
- Species: Freak Out pokemon.
- Evolves from: Farfetch'd via level up while knowing Leaf Blade.
- Abilities:
- Freak Out: Attack raised by 2 stages when Confused. (Does not stack with Swagger)
- Blademaster: Increases power of cutting moves (Cut, Night Slash, Leaf Blade etc.) by 10%
- Appearance: A calm looking duck with white and navy blue feathers that give the impression of traditional samurai garb. Tucked under it's wing is a stick that looks like a wooden katana. It's animation has its eyes bug out and flailing its wings like a mad
manduck. - Pokedex Entries:
- 1) Absur'd tries to keep a calm and dignified persona up at all times. In reality, it is very paranoid and will go into panic attacks at the slightest provocation.
- 2) Absur'd carry around branches from a rare tree that grow on a single island. The wood from the trees is as strong and flexible as steel. From time to time Absur'd fly to the island to replace damaged branches.
- Base Stats: 80/110/65/65/65/105
- Level Up moves
- - Poison Jab
- - Leaf Blade
- - Peck
- - Leer
- - Sand-Attack
- - Fury Cutter
- 7 Fury Attack
- 9 Knock-Off
- 13 Aerial Ace
- 19 Slash
- 21 Air Cutter
- 23 Swagger
- 25 Swords Dance

- 48 Baton Pass
- 50 False Swipe
- 53 Psycho Cut

- 62 Sky Attack
- Egg Moves:

Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!Personally, I'm hoping it's just a spinoff; it's way too early for a new gen, and it's still on the same system!
And come to think of it, no one ever said you needed a new generation to introduce new pokemon, right? Meh, you're kinda right. But my first point still stands.
But I still have a few ideas for new pokemon; if you want to know what they are, let me know.

Don't think there's any real need for a new type. The ones introduced in G2 were mostly for balance. At this point adding a new one would be difficult. Also; dark is called evil in Japan, so there's no good reason to think there'd be a light type *, particularly with psychic taking the stop you'd expect light to.
Assuming the reinvention bit isn't hyperbole, my main guesses at what would get changed are are how moves and the party is handled. The current move system is generally a pain, and one-on-one fights are boring.
@BER- You need a new generation to introduce new pokemon. If they're not already in the game code, there's no way to transfer them in.

So you're saying that a 5th gen is not needed?
That's comminting finacial Sucide there, it's like say Mario should of stopped after World or Zelda after Link's Awakening.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceWhat they could do is make the battle system a little less static. A Final Fantasy-esque "Active Time Battle" system could work, though it would make the game unacceptably fast-paced for some people. Action Commands for some moves would be interesting, if a bit gimmicky.
Beyond that, where can the series go? More types would throw off the balance of the game. Battles would get extremely tedious if expanded beyond 3 by 3. We've already had ~10 legendaries in this generation, one of which is God. Game Freak is going to run out of ideas for moves/Pokemon eventually...

YKTTW Salvage ListActually, it's about the right time for a new generation...
- 1996
- 1999
- 2002
- 2006
If they made battle 3v3 and balanced for it I think it'd go a long way towards making things less tedious.
I speculate that fans will work themselves crazy speculating and inevitably get mad when their hypothetical pokemon don't show up. Of course they will still buy the games and go into gen wars. There will be a boom in fanart for a while, with people alternately praising or bashing the new designs.
Hope you don't mind me adding that to the crowner.
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages? What crowner are you talking about?
ATB-system doesn't necessarily make the game a whole lot more fast-paced... You can simply stop time once a Pokemon is ready in order to let the trainer issue a command. The problem would be balancing it, and changing the way the moves work... Fast Pokemon are already at a huge advantage, it would be an utter catastrophe if they could even attack more often per "turn" than the slower ones.

Actually, as much as the metagame revolves around speed, it doesn't seem to be the most important stat for a Pokémon to have. Hop on Smogon's OU page and check out the median stats.
- HP: 76
- Attack: 95
- Defense: 88
- Sp. Attack: 95
- Sp. Defense: 95
- Speed: 85
(amusingly, Kingdra's perilously close to being the median in every stat, with its 75/95/95/95/85 spread)
That aside, you're right to worry about ATB overpowering speed or at least making it too central to the metagame. That mightn't be a bad thing, of course, but we should consider whether that's the game we want. Maybe the future of competitive Pokémon is biting your nails hoping that Scarfed Gengar doesn't move three times before you can go twice.

It Just Bugs MeThere is nothing wrong, dated or stale about the formula now. Mario is still the same jump on enimes & collect powerups he was 20 years ago.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceAm I the only one hoping this means you can join Team Whatever?
^ I'd like to say yes, but no.
It won't. Pokemon doesn't teach kids how to be delinquents and/or gang members.
INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.Yeah. It teaches them to be good, law-abiding citizens; they know better than to join criminal organizations, because those are always trying to release some ancient power that will destroy the world.
I have a message from another time...You could say that Mew is The Mario.
Though with stats balanced at 100 each, that's more of a Lightning Bruiser.
I have a message from another time...And Arceus has 120 in all stats... Would that make him The Super Mario?

Arceus is a Game-Breaker. Wasn't he removed from Ubers?
You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person.Let's ask our old pal Smogon!
After the pre-battle tintinnabulation is completed, please stare in pure, unadulterated horror and ominous presentiment at what is unequivocally the best and most versatile Pokémon in the game. Dare not incur Arceus' divine wrath, or else the consequences shall be severe and merciless, and life shall become an evanescent wisp.
Counters
As versatile as Arceus is, every individual set is entirely counterable.
Well then!
Re: Speed-based Metagame but speed stat not being that important, isn't that largely because priority moves are so much in vogue lately?

I would actually love to play a Failure Is the Only Option Team Rocket Pokemon game, especially if you play as the Team Rocket, Jesse, James, and Meowth, with Butch and Cassidy in the rival spot.

Sorry, had to.
