I think he is talking about Uzui (the sound pillar) though any further discussion about kny should probably go to it's thread
Cowboys vs SamuraiAh. Thanks
I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boys@ Mami Yeah, I think a good chunk of the fandom would agree with you on Aoba Johsai being the best Miyagi team. I’m one of the few weirdoes who only liked Oikawa. Honestly I liked Date Tech and Johzenji better than Seijou.
If the deal goes through, it would effectively split anime distribution in the US into two major factions, Sony (which owns FU Nimation) and its allies, vs. Netflix and its allies.

It’s kind of funny
Consider why Crunchyroll was a thing in the first place
Its like poetry
So my immediate thoughts about that is wondering what's going to be the Monkey's Paw here? I ask that because the Japanese Production Committee side has displayed a history of "over-correcting" in response to their potential bidding pool shrinking.
- They've formed their own divisive licensing and distribution companies like Aniplex of America and Ponycan USA to more directly control the pricing of home video and streaming.
- They tried to create their own alternative streaming service in the form of Daisuki.
- When Netflix and Amazon (through Anime Strike) drove up the bidding prices they naturally happily went along with it.
All of this to say as convenient as it would be to get majority of the anime in a single platform, I'm fully expecting some sort of response.
That and poor Sentai Filmworks. They were already struggling to get any seasonal anime as is. Unless they get bought out by another company I imagine they are going to have to undergo a full restructuring.
Huh, I totally didn’t think about how Sentai has to handle this
Sounds dicey
: Huh, so Crunchyroll started off showing fansubbed East Asian shows and it was all rather dodgy? But then 2009 had them going legit?
And Sony owns Funimation as it is.
. . .
Nope, my brain hurts. I'll let someone else explain what this means.
All that means to me is that Sony is gonna have a large majority of the anime industry covered.

Spelunking through a Halo Ring is something else...Harmony Gold holds on to the license out of spite, not profit. They've apparently turned down numerous attempts to buy said license and everyone remembers their Anime Expo panel last year which was just them sticking their tongues out as they trolled the audience. "Lawsuit went against us? Fine, we'll spend the money out of pocket and re-acquire the licenses to keep Macross out of the US!"
Edited by Beatman1 on Oct 30th 2020 at 4:41:23 AM
...I was joking.
Damn it, why can't Harmony Gold just go out of business? Like, what needs to happen to make them go away?
It’s easy to dunk on Crunchyroll when they started it as ripping off other people’s subbing
Guess Sony gets the last laugh after all
Speaking of getting the last laugh and the notion of irony it tends to bring up:
Last night, I remembered Birdy the Mighty: Decode was a thing and how Funimation's license for that specific anime expired back in 2016 when Aniplex of Japan was netting most if not all of the anime it ever produced. (Probably to re-release them in the future with hefty price tags via Aniplex of America, but I digress.)
And as it turns out, effective 2020, Aniplex (as a joint venture with Sony Pictures Television) owns 95% of Funimation itself.
Of course, I don't expect this to mean that all of Funi's Aniplex dubs can/will magically be re-licensed back to Funi, but it just feels like an "irony of ironies" phenomenon in the anime industry.
Incidentally, it turns out the original Birdy the Mighty manga turns 35 this year, the OVA turns 25 next year, and the Decode anime turned 12 this year. Then again, the franchise is awfully overlooked, so we'd be blockheads for expecting some kind of milestone celebration like Blu-rays releases or what have you...
Read the available chapters of Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective and now I'm super into it, wtf
I guess I really was hankering for a disaster detective after the hole that Balance Unlimited left me with.
Whoa. Studio Khara's planning to release the Gunbuster OVA in theaters on November 27th?!
Translation:
November 27th (Friday) Tokyo TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro Osaka TOHO Cinemas Umeda Nagoya Midland Square Cinema Fukuoka T-Joy Hakata Sapporo Sapporo Cinema Frontier
Hmmm. I wonder how'd this happen? Probably a side effect of Gainax being deader than dead for all intents and purposes?
Seriously?
Bad timing but I would love to see it
Not a bad idea, the six OVA put together are about as long as a film.
Right. After years of being a GaoGaiGar fan, I'm thinking of dipping my toes into another Brave Series show: The Brave Fighterof Legend Da Garn.
I'd write about this on the actual Brave Series thread (which we do have) but the search function is ass lately (I type in a specific thing, and get literally everything but that thing, where as I used to get that topic right on the first page if I was specific enough) so I'm mentioning it here. If anyone knows where the Brave Series Thread is, feel free to put in a link here.
One Strip! One Strip!Just from Iron Saga (mecha mobage)
I realize there’s so much old school mecha shows
Recent collab was Zeormyer and that’s honestly obscure
I decided to show ERASED to my mom, she's really enjoying it and my father (who has a stigma towards cartoons) decided to join in.
The knife changing its position from the back to the stomach still bothers me. Digibro's videos on A1 Pictures being the "McDonald's of anime" still lingers in my mind. I'm enjoying myself but I feel like I should be analyzing it more so I hate it.
I wonder what the Netflix series is like though I don't feel like experiencing the same story twice in a row (nod unintended).

6 episodes into Da-Garn.
All eight braves are assembled, and asshole in a cape is all like fine, I'll do it myself now.
I do like the variety of vehicles. That's always a plus of the brave series it seems.
Tomorrow, I'll watch more of Ash Ketchum saving the day.
One Strip! One Strip!Ignore Digibro.
She's never really been that great, and I'd recommend to stop taking reviews as the gospel and draw your own conclusions on stuff. Its a healthier mindset. And her "Mcdonalds of anime" schpeal has been debunked by countless animators in the industry as well.
Watch SymphogearWatched episodes 7, 8 and 9 now.
Sky Saber has appeared: lets see him use a BFS. He's aptly named for it.
Sky Saber: SABER...BOOMERANG!
-_-
Oh, and Land Bison is here as well. At least he's sticking to his theme. Got horns and everything. Uses his drill. He's honest about who and what he is. I like that.
....why do you have a boomerang if you have Saber in your name?
One Strip! One Strip!
Even though I finished the entire series I somehow have zero idea what you're referring to
I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boys
