The rational part of me says it's really the only way they're going to do it, given how many legendary Pokémon there are now...

...but I have to say, I've been disappointed with this trend of putting large numbers of legendaries in cookie-cutter areas like Ultra Space or floating rings around Hoenn.

Remember HGSS, where every previous-generation legendary had its own spot? That was neat. Wish they would do that again.

The problem is there's so many damn legendaries now to have them all have their own spots would be a nightmare.

But on the other hand, if they made the birds, beasts, AND lake trio all roaming then it'd be a nightmare beyond imagining.

Yeah, I'm not particularly fond of it but there isn't really a better solution. It's generic way of obtaining many, some being really awkward to obtain, or way more dev work.

Just throw them on random spots in the overworld. Groudon, Cobalion, and Tapu Lele just chilling in Veilstone for no particular reason.

Just hand out a shitload of tickets and put everything on those islands like Cresselia, maybe a few more weird teleportation places like the Shaymin thingy(That can be escaped without fly, for the love of god please.)

I'd prefer rather than linking it to a minigame like Ultra Space or Soaring, to have hidden caves around the region that only appear when conditions are met and then vanish after catching the Pokemon. Like in Emerald.

Ideally it be like HGSS, but I don't know if they want to spend that much dev time on something pretty minor.

[up]That would be a neat idea. Just as long as it's not a repeat of the Regi trio. The locations should be fairly intuitive and the requirements noticeably but not glaringly hinted at.

And they need to release the Azure Flute this time. The RETIRE Glitch is great and all, but it'd be so epic to actually see the Hall of Origin, especially with updated graphics.

And, while I know this would never happen, a mention of, say, a weak point in the fabric of space-time somewhere in Jubilife would be neat.

Actually, just make the Azure flute a reward for collecting every other legendary in the game.

People keep saying Kalos would of been better if Z had come out, but wouldn't the ideal situation be a pair of games that are as good as they possibly could be from the outset?

The fact that GF's other Franchises don't sell a bunch kind of takes the teeth out of this question. Do you want to put out a stellar product? Sure! But you also have to put food on the table and all that.

GF seems to be trying to trade glory for passion, which is good, but does come at a cost. It may well behove them to cut down on production cycles. Because, again, what is Nintendo's next step?

While Sinnoh is an fitting place to have a Super Team of Legendaries, I'm more concerned with how TPC is going to get 8 regions worth of regular Pokemonnote  into 4 game packs.

Easy way to do Alolan Forms is just to make it so that holding the Strange Souveneir makes the baby hatch as an Alolan form if applicable (while also doubling as an Everstone, so you don't have to choose between IV's, Nature, and Form).

I meant Ultra Megalopolis, sorry. Ultra Space is fine, if a tad gimmicky. Comapred to how ORAS handled extra legendaries.

Oh yeah, Ultra Megalopolis felt like a huge slap in the face. When it was announced as a "new area", I was at least expecting an explorable world like the Distortion World and not a glorified staircase.

I knew ultra megatropolis was going to be small though. Still it was way too awesome looking to be regulated to a small path and a spiral staircase lol. Expected but disappointing. At least the music was killer.

I ended up fooling around in ultra space for like an hour straight last night. The gatcha aspect of it makes it more engaging than spontaneous condition caves like in ORAS. Like it's pretty hype seeing that white flash and a powerful presence message than something awesome like a box legend shows up. Not quite so awesome when you get no message and a swellow instead lol.

I do wish TPC would stop revealing everything before the game hits though.

Unpopular opinion: I don't think every legendary/every Pokemon should be obtainable in one set of games. A full generation, remakes included, yes but not a single pair. Being able to get everything in the sixth generation if you have XY and ORAS? Makes sense. Trying to make it so you can get 8 generations worth of Pokemon in SWSH alone or Sinnoh remakes alone? That's way too cluttered and makes zero sense. Even moreso if you can get everything in just one game without trading.

Is it possible plans for Gen 7 changed at some point after S&M released?

I wonder if they might have put more Legends in S&M had they known US/UM would be the only other main series games.

[up][up] If you remember correctly, ORAS and USUM were like that.

XY only had the Kalos trio, the legendary birds and Mewtwo. Everyone else were either Hoenn natives or acquired through Hoopa portals.

Same thing with USUM, the only legendaries catchable in SM were Alolan newbies and Zygarde, everyone else was captured through Ultra Space in USUM.

Hopefully they change that and add a few more from other regions in Sw Sh.

[up] It's likely they knew about the Switch and the need to move to HD around the time they started on SM (remember the Switch was first announced about a month before SM's launch and based on nVidia's PR immediately afterwards, they had been working on building it since 2014, which is when ORAS launched).

If there were any change in plans, it was likely due to lack of time for development, rather than poor planning.

I'd say, stuff like having an ice area with some dead ends that don't really feel like much the first time you go through, but once some sidequests are taken, Articuno, Suicune and Kyurem would appear in different subareas.

That'd require creating a new map, rather than adapting real places, for the greatest effect.

Just gonna but in and say that outside of Tembo, their non-Pokemon games have been great. Can't really vouch for Giga Wrecker since I haven't played that. My favorite is the addictive Pocket Card Jockey.

Beat rainbow rocket.

  • Archie was tough and kyogre was quite a theeat with ice beam, it was down to the last mon and goodra delivered the final blow
  • Maxie was easy, once again goodra delivered the last hit but I only lost 1 or 2 mons.
  • Lysandre was tough and beat me first attempt as I forgot he had megagyrados, who swept the team. 2nd attempt I was able to get kommo-o to set up D Ds which allowed him to outspeed and KO megayrados as well as take out most of his team. Xerneas was a pain since moonblast OHKO everything but thankfully he used geomancy allowing reshiram to KO him.
  • Cyrus was easy.
  • Ghestis was a bit tricky since cofagrigus would burn everything and his AI was smart enough to switch out...twice even. Turtonator was able to set up a shell smash though and OHKO bouffalant with a Z-move. Zekrom did some damage but 10%zygrade and kommo-o were able to finish him.
  • Giovanni actually gave me trouble this time, surprisingly enough. I lost twice against him even. First time was going smooth as kommo-o was able to set up 3 D Ds and took out dugtrio and nidoking with little effort, but rhyperior actually survived a sky uppercut and swept the team pretty much. By the time he was KO'd I had like only 1 mon left. 2nd attempt I made sure to use a z-move on rhyperior to ensure the KO but Megamewtwo X just hit too hard and was K Oing everyone in 1 or 2 hits. 3rd attempt I switched out turtonator for salamence(who I had boxed this entire time since it was level 70 already and would've made things too easy) and lead with kommo-o to set up again, except sky uppercut against dugtrio missed and it died before it could do any damage. I had salamence set up D Ds instead while dugtrio kept trying to sucker punch it and at +5 it pretty much steamrolled gio. Fun fact, if you send a flying type or anything with levitate against dugtrio and it's out of sucker punches gio will switch out to another pokemon, even mewtwo who you can KO before it goes mega, which is what happened this time. Salamence is a monster, and this isn't even his mega.

I just wish salamence's wings didn't look so crappy. It's the worst part of his design. Actually looking at more images of it, it seems the games actually make them look worse due to how they're animated and shaded. I know he's a partial devilman homage but it looks lame.

Hmm that might be where I stop with this playthrough, though it was pretty fun. I kind of feel like playong through with another type, though I'm not sure which. I want to do ice since that's the only other type lacking a native specialist(since sina is technically from Kalos) and there's like 5 different lines you can get on melemele(admittedly only 3 are available early on though).

I wonder if there's Gen 1 concept art of Red's mother somewhere. I've noticed that Pokémon Zensho and another manga use the exact same "short and curly haired" design for her. They either copied one another or referenced some piece of official art.

On a similar developmental note. I've read a theory that Erika was originally intended to be a Cute Ghost Girl. In concept art, her kimono was done in a manner used for burials. They probably changed her character but didn't want to edit her sprite, so they explained it as her being a Sleepyhead as a quirk. The theory makes sense, at least from my POV, but there's not much proof as of now. Not much is known about the development of human characters.

So a while ago, i discovered an old Gameboy SP and a leaf green cartridge, and in an attempt to evolve Haunter, i met someone with a pirated fire red cartridge and another Gameboy SP, i'm attempting to trade, but i'm concerned if there are any ill effects, like bad eggs, though from my understanding, Bad eggs only spawn IF you steal from trainers or that mon is obviously hacked. My plan to avoid any ill effects, is to give an everstone to Haunter, then make sure it evolves in my game after trading whatever the other player gives back to me. Anyone know more about these sort of things? I have heard it is possible to trade with pirated copies as the basic programming is the same, but i don't plan on keeping anything from a pirated cartridge.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.
