Ariados one is indeed real. Saw it in the game.

Marlon also nearly got a life threatening head injury by colliding with his Carracostas shell, but his goggles took the damage instead.

It's as ridiculous as it sounds.

After the recent Nintendo Direct, the direction this Anime took is starting to make sense.

Still, they should have had a main Galarian campaign for about 50 episodes (or, given the recent announcement, 30 EDIT: before embarking on this very loose path...

Are they still going with the Alternate Universe Ash of I choose you?

His clothes kinda looked like the ones he's wearing in the current series, so it's hard to tell.

By this point, it is necessary to create a different character page for AU Pokémon anime. Just, I don't think anyone knows what this new movie continuity is called.

Actually I'm surprised they aren't going to make a movie of Lillie and Gladion trying to find Mohn lol.

The Sun and Moon time passed. Add it to the "wasted opportunities" pile.

Yeah. While Sun and Moon had some interesting stuff, they clearly weren't interested in (or perhaps didn't have the time to) follow up on the stuff with Lillie's family. And it's the first series to not have any of it's characters appear in movies.

The anime is clearly done with trying to follow the games religiously and is doing its own thing now completely.

Has there been an anime season where they've closely followed the games, cuz every anime feels really different from their games in most capacities.

Which is interesting... because the games themselves are starting to trend Episodic.

Yesterday's Direct revealed that there's going to be upcoming DLC scenarios for SwSh in June. Apparently, each of the 2 scenarios has not just new dungeons and expanded dexes, but also new rivals.

Effectively, each of these scenarios amount to the game-equivalent of a Continuation Mini Series, making Galar a Hub area. I could see Ash and Go spend 4 episodes on each of these scenarios when they come out.

Of course, it would have required Ash to have spent at least 3 (more like 6) months for the Galar plot proper... or at the very least have the non-Gym plot be its own 4-episode series.

As for "The Search for Mohn" (*plays "Raiders' March"*) it could take a movie, but that would require a bit of a stretch. Then again, such a movie could take the extra time to Recap the events that the Aether family went through in the Anime, along with the clues to the search revealed therein, to get non-Anime viewers up to speed.

But then, that would mean that Ash would not be in the movie.note  We can't have that... can't we? But, to a certain sense, we don't, at least not the one that has 2 Challenge Cups and the Alolan Regional Title.

EDIT 2: As a side note to Rob's comment, I believe that the writers fully intended on following that up, but were told to give Ash a Win instead. They could still do a Special, though...

Seriously, for all of the talk about straying from the prior Strictly Formula, which it did, the "Sun & Moon" saga did hit upon most of the major Stations of the Canon: The individual trials, note  the Kahuna battles, the Motherbeast Scenario and Faba being The Starscream, note  catching the Ultra Beasts, and the battles against Dr. Kukui and Tapu Koko.

EDIT: For what it's worth, I'd say that the Kanto saga strayed more from its respective gen's Stations than the Alola saga did. Unova strayed even more, but that's the result of melding 2 game pairs into 1 without notice. And in Kalos... it's the games that dropped the ball and the Anime had to take lead.

Actually, I'd have to say that only Gens 3 & 4 were truely faithful in hitting the Stations, though not necessarily in how they hit the Stations... Or, at least as faithful as you could get without facing the Elite Four...

But this time... will Ash and Go be called upon to stop... whatever Chairman Rose did to put Galar in danger? (wild mass guessMaybe that's the upcoming movie...wild mass guess) And it makes sense for Ash and Go to spend short adventures in these newly revealed scenarios, but if they don't do the base scenario, even discounting the Gyms, then what's the point?

Or, to put it the Doylist way: What merchandise is Ash peddling? Because, thus far, it isn't the Gen 8 games. Though, until now, that was seen as a "good" thing. Now... now I'm wondering if we're going to have a sequel to Pokémon Generations dealing with the promised search for Mohn, the Kahunas & Captainsnote  vs Team Rainbow Rocket, and basically everything in Galar.

Pikachu's imitations of other Pokemon in Pikachu's Winter Vacation are adorable and really creepy at the same time.

So the new Pokemon short series, Twilight Wings aired its first episode on YouTube today. I watched it on my phone and it was pretty cute. The first episode centered on a sick boy and his friend trying to meet with Chairman Rose in the hospital they're in, with the blonde sick kid in particular wanting to give him a picture he drew of Leon and his Charizard. I don't know what the actual story is about, nor the boys' names, as I had it on silent. I don't know if the shorts are going to focus solely on the two kids or show off the gym leaders as well, but I like what I've seen so far. Also, Hop cameos at the end, playing cutely with his Wooloo. Awwwww.

The games have always been episodic. Despite there technically be a timeline (multiple ones due to all that stupid multiverse nonsense) extremely few plot points from one region are carried forward to the next. At most we get cameos and nods to other regions.

So I legit thought that that sick kid was going to drop dead a few times for some reason. Pokemon's dark sometimes, I wouldn't put it past it.

What's the general consensus on it, anyway?

To be fair, the CGI Pokemon actually look really cool. I kinda wish the Detective Pikachu movie went with those kinds of designs instead of the ugly ones they went with. The humans, on the other hand, are just...cringe.
