Troper Tales are The Scrappy of the wiki.

Well, part of the reason Eddie won't let us have quote buttons is because we have numbered posts, so...

I actually don't see the problem with Troper Tales in and of itself, as far as the idea goes. I kinda like reading how people experience tropes in their lives. It's just certain tropes that we do NOT need to know about.

Agreed in general, but the problem with open discussion is you can't control what people write. Because of this risk, Troper Tales pages would have to be off the AdSense even if we don't cut them.

I'd advocate a "report this edit" or "report this page" link across the entire wiki. Ask The Tropers is a decent place to report general issues but there's no awareness of it in the way that a "report content" button would have. Note the success of the "report post" button on these fora.

So, thinking about this a little...

So could we make a "mature" namespace, that uses a different ad system, and a normal namespace, that uses google? As far as I understood google there, they don't worry if the site has mature content, as long as their adds aren't displayed along this.

It would probably be a significant amount of coding work, and I think it's questionable if the "mature" adds are sufficient to support their side, but I don't know how much traffic/cost those mature parts produce.

I'm down cool with most Troper Tales, but if I ever see a listing for Their First Time I'm going to punch myself in the face.

I like that idea. It would be a good way to keep from having to delete a bunch of stuff.

Also, for the people who complained about the idea of a "now leaving Tvtropes" page? It's one extra click. Not that big of a deal. I'd much rather put up with that than have a massive section of the site deleted.

I'm gong to blatantly violate godwin's law.

Google is pack of hypocritical censorship Nazis. I would seriously reconsider finding multiple other sources for advertisement rather being bullied by Google. I have a hard time swallowing the site is suddenly unacceptable.
