This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

~Rippingtons60, in that you wrote them as an example, yes, but you didn't actually wick any of the tropes like Troll or Beware the Nice Ones.
Your examples need to stand on their own. If I read any of those, without being familiar with the work, I would have no idea how they exemplify that trope. What does the character do that makes them a Jerkass? If someone is a case of Beware the Nice Ones, it should be clear in the example itself how they are shown to be a nice person, and how they can become scary when crossed too many times. I shouldn't have to click to another page to figure that out.
Please read Zero-Context Example. You could really benefit from it.

I would like to be unsuspended. I was suspended over an incredibly mild bit of snark in a forum comment — someone who didn't appreciate my criticism of Black Panther's setting suggested that I had watched a different movie than them, and I responded by saying that I'd had just thought about it more than them, and had a wider knowledge base to draw on, essentially suggesting that I was smarter/better educated than them — and caught a suspension for it.
I feel like this was hypersensitivity on the part of the moderator (Fighteer), and a permanent suspension was way out of line for how mild the comment actually was. My editing priveleges have been suspended, I can't even read my P Ms (so I'm not even sure what the ban was for, to be honest I'm guessing based on the mods comments in the thread).
The thing that really upsets me is I donated $500 to the kickstarter a few years back, and have still never collected my prize, and now this account is essentially useless. All because I dared to suggest I might be smarter than someone who was talking down to me. It just seems incredibly unfair and ridiculous.
I'd also mention this was my first offense and I was given no warnings. I would be happy to never use the forums again, though I was participating in the constructive criticism thread in the Writer's Block forum, and would like to keep doing that. I'm quite happy to never post in the Live Action Film forum again.
Sure seems like you're talking down to everyone else.

Fine, it was a rude comment. I apologize. It still seems excessive and extreme to lock me out of editing and posting forever. It is, afterall, a very mild bit of snark. It's not like I cussed someone out.
I spent $500 to get an ad free account. I would never have done that if I had known that one mildly rude retort would get me locked out forever.

It's not one rude retort. It's coming into a topic where people have been discussing a work of fiction that they enjoy and immediately assuming an attitude of smug intellectual superiority. I don't know what circles you hang out in elsewhere on the Internet, but imagine storming into a club of, say, rock collectors, slamming a geology book on the table, and informing them in no uncertain terms that everything they're doing and everything they know is wrong because you say so. And that they are racist.
You'd get kicked out faster than you could say "igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary".
I should note that, while we're pleased that you donated to the Kickstarter, that gives you no claim on us other than the perks you received. Your account will still enjoy ad-free browsing on the site. Your editing and posting privileges have nothing to do with that.
The only way you'll get those privileges back is if you can figure out how to ditch this attitude. It doesn't look promising.
Edited to add: Our last resort if you can't figure out how to be civil is a complete block of your account. Just throwing that out there.

Like I said, if your problem is just with my attitude, then I will happily never post in those forums again. I will keep my opinions to myself. But I'd also point out that nowhere in the rules does it say that you will be banned for being pretentious, and your comment makes it sound like I didn't get banned for violating the rules, but because you don't like me. Which is not very fair to me.
I don't know what I can possibly do other than apologize and promise to never do it again. Do you want me to grovel? Beg? Is it just my humiliation you're after?

No, I'd like people in our media forums to be able to have discussions without obnoxious know-it-alls barging in out of nowhere and throwing around accusations that they are all idiots.
This is covered under the part of our rules that says, "Don't be a dick."
If you'd like to make this into some kind of grudge that I, personally, hold against you, I can't stop you. We've suspended and/or banned plenty of people and you're just another in the list. The only matter to be resolved is whether you will figure out how to accept that people are allowed to disagree with you.
In our private moderator chat, we're all munching popcorn, FYI.
Edited to add: Sorry, I forgot procedural stuff. As of now, you are banned from all site activities but may continue to read it. That's how things will remain unless you convince us otherwise.

I don't really see why you need to insult me. I did not call anyone an idiot. At most, I suggested I'm more widely read than one user, which doesn't even imply that user is an idiot, let alone that everyone is an idiot.
This is really starting to feel abusive.
And how am I supposed to do that, exactly? You seem to have already made up your mind about me, and the fact that you're very clearly trying to bait me into a fight with you doesn't leave me with the feeling that you will ever give me a fair shake.
You have all the power here. It feels to me like you just want to see me grovel before you, and that hurts my feelings. I feel small and powerless. Is that what you want? Because if that's what you want, you've won. You've made it clear that I am powerless and entirely at your mercy.

~UltramanMattia, you were asked to use the Get Help with English thread when we last responded to you in December. To reiterate, you need to improve your grammar, and that thread would be very helpful for resolving your most problematic grammar issues.
As for your issues with Zero Context Examples, you need to demonstrate you understand what sufficient context means. Here are some of the examples you added to VideoGame.Nox:
- Affectionate Parody: Of the Ultima series and Summon Everyman Hero stories in general.
- Big Bad: Hecubah.
- Evil Redhead: Hecubah
None of these are written to clarify how they exemplify the trope they are supposedly an example of.
~RichDotcom, you also need grammatical improvement. Your edit on YMMV.Yu Gi Oh VRAINS, for example, has borderline run-on sentences, doesn't wick properly, misplaced commas, and bad capitalization.
- Hype Backlash: When a duel between Revolver an Soulburner was first announced, many fans were really hyped due to how interesting a duel between the two would be and would possibly give an Ignis Duelist an actual proper loss. In episode 84 however, The "duel" between them amounts to nothing more than Soulburner angsting and Revolver pretty much throws the duel as an apology and the duel ends with no outcome. This result disappointed many due to this.
The Get Help with English thread, as stated above, is there for assisting in these matters. You were sent some notifiers on your grammar issues, but if you will not seek improvement on your own, we will make it so that is your only option.

Beware the Nice Ones: She's one of the sweetest characters in the show but don't push her too far. Best example is when Roger pulled off her hat to show all the party-goers her bad haircut and laughs at her. You'd think with Connie's personality she'd cry and run out but instead she just takes her hat back after she gives Roger a ''hard'' punch in the gut.
Jerkass: Miss Gultch want to have Toto killed simply because he gets into her garden and chases her cat and recently bit her leg. Bare in mind, for the latter we have only her word to go on, it could very well have been a different dog who bit her. Miss Gultch could have just wanted to take her anger out on Toto as and used the bite as an excuse to get rid of him.
Also what was still wrong with the Troll example?
I removed the contractions so as to make it seem more constructive.

~AnthonyA, the removal of contractions is weird and uncalled for. Contractions are perfectly acceptable and help keep the more casual tone that we like in our wiki. Removing them, frankly, often makes the language seem stilted and unnatural.
Also, I told you you would have to prove you were capable of obeying rules for example indentation and sufficient context. Rewrite this example from Norbit to correct the context and indentation.
- The Dragon: The Latimore Brothers to Rasputia.
- However, the Latimore Brothers do have their own Dragon: Deion Hughes.
As you keep requesting to be removed without acknowledging that this is a barrier to entry, if you again only ask to have your ban removed without trying to correct the above, I will make it permanent.
