This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

~Sean Murray I : So what exactly were you doing on Added Alliterative Appeal then?
"Yup. That tasted purple."I've been keeping tabs on that page for the last couple years (since 2013, at least) to make sure that the pages catalogued on the index are all thoroughly and appropriately alliterative. I had noticed several non-alliterative page titles being indexed there (Ceiling Cling, Take That!, Glowing Gem, for instance), and after I had cleaned it up, I've been checking the page on my watchlist ever since.
If all this has something to do with my most recent edit on the page, I apologize if my edit note was seen as aggressive or confrontational, but I assure that was not my intention. I just wanted to try to provide an explanation for a previous editor as efficiently as I thought possible (using ALLCAPS for emphasis because I didn't think bold or italics markup worked in that line, like they do in the page's description).
If I should explain my position any further, I deem "Take That!" Tit-for-Tat to fail to meet the page's requirements for consistent, flowing alliteration because the "That" is not merely a minor pronoun which can be overlooked but part of our compounded phrase Take That!, which means those syllables are more stressed. Nevertheless, I'd welcome any wider discussion in the troping community, if we'd would like to loosen some of the parameters for pages that can be indexed on Added Alliterative Appeal for titles like this one.

Is my suspension confirmed permanent? How am I even supposed to contribute to this discussion? Was I the only one who got suspended for the Edit War, or did the other person get a suspension, too? Apparently, I'm getting the hint that they avoided the suspension, and violated the rules of handling an Edit War.
BANNED FOR warning the mods that the adblock nagging for paid subscription may ignite a Flame War INCIVILITY~Sean Murray I: The main issue is that the page's history shows that this example has been added, removed, added, and removed again over a relatively short timespan, which technically counts as an Edit War. It should've been hashed out on the discussion page when it showed back up.
Before the other day, the last time that item was added/deleted to the index was April 30th, which I would have no recollection of if I hadn't just checked the page history.
It's certainly not my place to edit war, and I have made use of discussion pages in other situations in the past when editing has been much more frequent, but it didn't occur to me this would be seen as an edit war after nearly eight weeks had past between separate instances, after I would have already moved on from and forgotten about the first. On both occasions, though, I've aimed to be fully transparent and provide an explanation for my action in the edit notes, which I had thought would have been sufficient.

~Fungus3: Sorry, that was inadvertent. The other troper correctly asked about the situation on Ask The Tropers and received permission to remove the rule-violating entry.
Since you know the rules now, I'll release your suspension. Please work with other tropers to arrive at the proper writeup for the example, if it actually applies.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Etherjammer: Your suspension is released.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hello. Before I was suspended, the last edit to any page I remember making was adding a few tropes to the My Little Pony: The Movie YMMV page, one of which, The Scrappy, was deleted by someone else afterwards. I'll admit, I did jump the gun on that one, since I just added it after seeing a few comments on Derpibooru, and the given reason for the deletion was that the opinion needed to be widespread.
Was that the reason I was suspended? If so, any other reason for my suspension?
This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute.~Chris: Yes, that's one part of it. The bigger picture is that we do not trope speculation. Articles for upcoming works should only contain tropes about factual information that is known to be present in those works. Adding pre-emptive audience reaction tropes is right out. As nobody has watched the movie in question yet (aside from any leaks), it is impossible to know that a particular character will be considered The Scrappy or anything else.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but fansites like Derpibooru should not be used as benchmarks for troping content on our wiki. We have different standards.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Alright, I got it. I'll hold off on adding The Scrappy until the movie's released and audience reactions are definite. Are there any other similar tropes that I should hold off on adding as well?

This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute.Hey, I just posted a reply in ATT and went to edit it... and it wouldn't let me. Concerned something wrong. (Edit to add: And just found out can't edit pages, either.)

OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!Hi. I got a suspension. I'm not sure what I did and apologies if I broke a rule. Can someone explain to me what I did and how I can post again? Thanks.
It's been a couple days, and nobody's responded to my previous message yet. Is this still under review, or have you guys just been really busy lately? Just checking.
Inane motivational quote goes hereYears ago, you had launched a poorly formatted draft from what was formerly YKTTW (it's been renamed recently). Issues included no formatting, poor grammar, and launched with no hats (which is now impossible).
You were involved in an edit war on Added Alliterative Appeal.
Indeed, the edits made there went overboard. When it comes to making articles self-demonstrate, if there's a Self-Demonstrating/ subpage, it's best to leave the main page alone. When a page becomes an unreadable mess, that's when you definitely know you've gone too far.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportReasonable. I apologize for that, and I'll keep that in mind for the future. This site is awesome, and I will make myself a great Troper even if it kills me.

Inane motivational quote goes hereOh man, yeh. I totally was, but I guess I didn't think of it like that at the time. I took it to ATT but I also went straight ahead editing. I'll slow it down, sorry guys.
OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!I had forgotten that. My apologies I hadn't realised it had actually launched. I won't do that again.
Also, why can't I access discussion subpages? The editing suspension I understand, but I never post on the forums or discussions, so I don't know why it keeps directing me to my suspension.
Inane motivational quote goes here~lakingsif and KingBowser9001, your suspensions are released.
Hello again. My edit ban remains in effect, and I would like to know what I can do to earn back my editing privileges. (I would've posted this much earlier, but I was off the grid until recently. Here is my initial post, in case anyone needs a refresher.)
If it means anything, the other Troper did contact me about the situation via PM. They apologized for not alerting me of my wrongdoing, but I told them it was nothing they needed to feel sorry for since a) the blunder was still on my watch (and I wasn't even aware of it because I usually don't check the discussion pages), b) it would've very much looked like vandalism from their end, and c) the mods were just doing their jobs in response to the incident.
I also received a PM yesterday from dragonfire5000 about re-adding a "Rescued from the Scrappy Heap" entry to the same page the aformentioned offense happened on. I haven't checked the page's edit history, but I believe the edit in question is related to all of this (as the edit would've had to be in place before the ban was enacted).
"Oh no, Sanji's Chronic Simprosis!" - Kou The MadI've been suspended for a couple days. I'll do my best not to make the same mistake twice, so would it be okay for me to ask if I can have my suspension lifted?
This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute.~Sean Murray I: The issue for us is that you've been a bit overzealous in protecting Added Alliterative Appeal. Try discussing disagreements more. I'll release your suspension.
~Chris: To answer your question, you should "hold off on" any tropes that are based on audience reactions to unreleased content. That seems to be the major issue here. I'll release your suspension.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Er1nsg1rl: As it's an old issue, we won't hold you up over it. I'll release your suspension, but please take greater care for any future tropes you propose.
~X2X: It is possible that your edit overwrote another user's changes to the same page if you were working on the article offline and let the lock timer expire. This is one main reason why we discourage offline editing, especially for popular articles. I'll release your suspension.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Sorry, I realized my editing privelages have been suspended. I totally respect that, I probably did something to deserve it. That said, I would really love to know what mistake did I do.
