This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I have been suspended indefinitely on August 2022. Because I accidentally made a ZCE on the YMMV page of Catwoman: Hunted sometime after my third suspension was lifted. And it was the same one I made before, which I forgot that I did.
I understand the rules already. I like to request that my suspension be lifted and be allowed to edit again, please?
I would also appreciated it if you send me messages to fix any future ZCEs I might make. So that I would know immediately to fix them. Just because I've accidentally made ZCE before, it doesn't mean I don't respect the rules. I just didn't know how serious they were, but now I do.

Synchronicity, I actually meant that I'll take a break from the projects to reconsider what's wrong, and when I think that through, I come back.
But anyways I'll be less blaise/defensive when I do come back to those projects.

As I understand it:
1) You cannot post a work-in-progress page. They should go to the sandbox page for drafts, which I didn't do.
2) Tropes must be followed by contexts and descriptions. If there are no contexts and descriptions, then it is not valid. A page must have a minimum of three tropes.
3) Use the correct namespace for the page.
4) The page must have descriptions and they must adhere to the good things to follow (name of the creator's work, overview of the plot, etc.) and not the things that shouldn't be included (personal opinions on the author or works, recommendations, personal praising or plot spoilers).
Alright, so I was suspended over two problematic edits I made. One of which I understand and will take note not to make again. The other I do not understand. All I did was change two gender-specific words on a “This Is Something He’s Got To Do Himself” entry in a character page. Apparently that’s misleading. Could somebody please explain to me how?

I was suspended from the Launch Pad for rogue launching. I didn't know that rogue launching was a thing, and assumed that anyone could launch a trope that was ready to launch. I promise that I won't do it again, so could I please be unsuspended?

I said I have no intention of taking unilateral action to delete an entry. I said what I wrote was posted in anger and was unproductive and unnecessary. I'm sorry I posted that.
I'm not trying to be obstinate here, but I seriously don't know what else you expect of me.
I have contributed to this site for 14 years. I've created three new tropes pages which have thrived. I've started several works pages. Does one angry post in a forum make all of that meaningless?

Hello so it’s been forever since I’ve gone on here, but I want to start editing again so I’ll keep it brief.
Back when I was less experienced with the wiki, my editing privileges were suspended because I had launched a trope that I did not suggest (when it was not up for grabs). Having read the rules more thoroughly, I now understand what my mistake was and will ensure TVT staff that it will not happen again.

~omnimon11 Actually, the problem is that you kept readding spoiler tags above the example line in Characters.Gushing Over Magical Girls. Not only are spoiler tags above the example line explicitly forbidden, when someone reverts your edit you don't just ram it back in.

~IMD Combee That's good, but there are two more problems with your edits:
- Word Cruft. Things like "Also..." and "Speaking of..." typically can be removed without harming an entry.
- Sometimes you are adding subbullets to existing entries, like here. Please read Example Indentation in Trope Lists and explain how you ought to write that example.
~Kingslayer38 It seems like you still need to improve a bit. I'd recommend that you keep posting in the grammar help thread and once you have a run of posts that didn't need corrections, you can come here.

Confused about a random suspension since I have not done anything to warrant a suspension, I am barely active and I did not get a message or notification.
General rule of thumb is that people deserve being notified of something this serious. It does not matter if people answer P Ms or not, its an admins duty to notify. It is common decency to warn people first (so that they know if their edits are bad or not and thus can correct themselves) and to message them if they have been suspended too. While I do like to edit again, this situation has shown a gross negligence on part of the admins and my trust in them is damaged. Anyone working on sites with rules, sysops etc are supposed to give out warnings and notifications. Communication is how you improve things.

My God, What Have I Done? I ended up spamming in Coyote vs. ACME, according to ~GastonRabbit! I bumped way too much! I'm so sorry! 
I bumped so much that my message became considered as spam by ~GastonRabbit. I was covering the WBD's earning call, fiscal Q4 2023. I did that on Coyote vs. ACME thread, covering the currently-shelved movie by Warner Bros. I directed to a livestream of the earning call, and I bumped a lot. Granted, the posts were different, but the thing is bumping so much, so frequently is considered spamming, which explains the holler. I'm so sorry for everything. I've tried my hardest, but I have slipped up without even knowing. I really wanted to contribute on TV Tropes, so recently I helped with picking images and content policy, as well as some Project: Long-term/Perpetual ones. I tried my best, and ever since I got back on forums, I never tried to break any rules or policies at all. I really tried my best. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything.
With this sudden and accidentally inflicted suspension, I doubt I'll be allowed again... Yes, you heard that right: I must have blew up my last chance by accident. I never wanted this to happen...

Considering that this is your second time being suspended for edit warring, it also comes across as hypocritical. As a matter of fact, you said the same thing the last time.
So, are we going to address your behavior, or shall we write you off as incorrigible and check the 'bounce' flag? It's entirely in your control.

And making threats is not good either so try being civil. I'm too old for this. I'm an admin myself on multiple sites, have been for decades now and one thing we do is give warnings and notifications, this is pretty much universal, be it wikis or social network. You give warnings, it is common decency and proper form, Whether or not a person sees it is irrelevent, by giving notification, you are giving people a chance to see what they may have done and how to correct it, if they then miss or ignore it then it is on them. There is a reason why this section is seemingly clogged up with appeals, because of your ban first and communicate later.
Now to the issue. I am not sure what edit warring you are talking about, the only thing that comes to mind that was even close to that was when I was trying to keep false information out of a page. I think this is the starfield ymmv where a user was attempting to add information based on an edited video, I repeatedly told them why the edit was not suitable. At anytime they could have rephrased it to be accurate because a part of it was true, just not in how it happened in the video.
Now unless it is ok to add information based on videos that have edited things to make something look like something it isn't, then said information should be removed or am I wrong here and that it is ok to add that? Anyway, like I said, my trust in you lot is now irreversibly damaged. So I don't think it matters now. I am considering not coming back, pity because I did put some time on to this site.

- We don't know or care you who are outside of TV Tropes. This is our site, with our rules. We expect all users to learn and abide by them.
- You were suspended for edit warring once before, so you have no excuse not to know our rules.
- Our Edit War policy makes no exception for "but I am right". The reason it exists is to prevent wiki articles from being used to carry out arguments, which is exactly what you were doing.
- We are not here to judge the truth or falsehood of your edits. We are here to enforce civility. There is a correct way to handle editing conflicts and you chose not to follow it.
How you run your own sites is your business. If you want to hang out with us, you agree to do things our way. If you do not wish to abide by our rules, the door is over there. You can take this as a "threat" if you want; I'm simply stating facts.

@Septimus Heap To answer your question, if I were to be unsuspended, I would refrain from launching any trope on the Trope Launch Pad that either doesn’t have enough votes or I didn’t get permission from the original suggester to launch. I would also try to clean up my act and contribute positively to pages in need of more information.

Wait three days. The draft must also have at least five more hats than bombs, must have at least twelve wicks, must not have major changes within 24 hours of launch, and discussion of the draft must be complete. 5. Indicate intent to launch 24 hours in advance. 6. Press the Launch button, confirm the title, and press the Launch button again.

Right, but back then I didn't know I was supposed to personally fix them myself. I thought someone else was gonna fix them. But I do understand that I have to watch my edits. And I would appreciate it if I get messages telling me if my edit is a ZCE, so I would know right away to fix them and not ignore them. Please?

hello, this is Heathen 1738, requesting my suspension be lifted. I have read all the pervious grievance's made about my editing posts in the past and have solved all the problems since my last response was given over one month ago, especially my main problem with my grammar and respectfully ask for permission to edit tv tropes again as this website has proven insightful to me for various interests in my favorite shows and movies. I want to be part of the process again and hope you can give me the chance I crave. if you need me to pass some kind of test to prove I'll do it, but please keep in mind I have had more than a month to reflect of my shortcomings and ask for the benefit of doubt, please respond soon and have a nice day.
