Not going to post spoilers and such but...i kinda felt a bit upset watching it because >.>...it just doesn't feel right watching it. It feels like one of the late cash in films where they made it, worked out how much it cost half way through then bottled it. :( Makes me sad.
No matter how fast the tech evolves, how wonderful the graphics change. Sometimes its the IDEA that makes the game better, not money.Saw it. It was cool. But I was dissapointed how the title character didn't get many lines.

THIS. So much.
And it goes double for video games.
Yeah, I definitely enjoyed the film for what it was. The games and the club scene were easily the two best, but the whole thing definitely had the spirit of the original. Oh, and IMAX 3D = AWESOME.
Rawr!Saw Legacy today. I wasn't planning to, but it was my brother's birthday and he's a big fan of the original.
I was surprised how much I liked it. I was expecting pure eye candy and got a fairly engaging story; not to mention the 3D was seamless(So seamless that I had to take off my glasses a few times to make sure it was doing something).
My only complaints lie with the ending and the characterization. Too many sequel hooks with the former, and not quite enough of the latter. *
Disappointed that Tron and Flynn died. Hopefully Sam can bring 'em back. Tron might still be alive, Flynn will probably be trickier.
I've got two guns pointed west and a broken compass.I saw this today (I havn't seen the original Tron yet) and was blown freaking away by it. Great action Popcorn munching flick with spectacular effects (Really the best use of 3D since How To Train Your Dragon) and great fight scenes. Also Jeff Bridges is awesome as Obi-Wan Lebowski Kevin Flynn.
My only gripe is that Michael Sheen's character is killed too soon after he was introduced. Seriously, whatever he was doing, it was awesome.

I'm having to learn to pay the priceIf this forum supported gif avatars, I'd have mine changed to him playing his cane like a guitar in less than a heartbeat.
Against all tyrants.I don't think most of the "dead" characters could be said to be permanently dead. They're just programs, after all, and could be re-writen.
As for Flynn, Sam has his data disc and the magic laser; it's not out of the scope of this fantasy series for him to be able to bring Obi-Wan Lebowski back.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxAt least it isn't an "lol tv tropes sucks/will ruin your life" thing.
Honestly, gotta go with the critics here. Don't get me wrong - the SFX is amazing - but it's... emotionally awkward and cold. Yes, shame on me for expecting better.
Half-Life: Dual Nature, a crossover story of reasonably sized proportions.I saw it, and well, its good, not great. The visuals are nice, the story works for what it is. I love all the throw backs and references to the first one. I am about to commit a terrible act here, but the movie could have done without "The Games". I would have done away with the lightcycle part and added a "Sam in Jail" part were we learn that there is a resistance and that Clu is up to something big. They bust Sam out and we get a lightcycle chase that is pretty similar to the game version, Clu chases them himself etc. It can even end the same way. As it is "the resistance" comes out of nowhere and "The Games" while nostalgic and iconic really kill the pacing and eat up a good chunk of the movie.
Also Michael Sheen is the best part of this movie. After leaving the theater I could not help acting like him. Also since we never see a body I like to believe he lived.

You will never love a women as much as George Lucas hates his fans.definitely agreed about Michael Sheen
Humour, where would we be without it? In Germany, probablyActually this broke my suspension of disbelief a bit (just a little, not that much). I mean a club owner has a gun and the best weapons that CLU's can get army has is swords?
Still haven't seen the film (damn my World Of Warcraft addiction!) but this Penny Arcade comic is just too priceless not to drop into the conversation.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I've always been a big fan of the original Tron. While Tron: Legacy wasn't what I expected, it was just as thought provoking as its predecessor. I'm still thinking about the movie a few days after having seen it.
Wait so the movie is called Tron. But the plot could have still worked without him, he gets 5 minutes of screen time and 8 syllables of dialogue?
Help?.. please...It's also called Legacy, which refers to the lasting impact his actions had.
Also, Tron wasn't really the main character in the original either. Both movies have been about the Flynns.
Against all tyrants. This made me think a moment, but what if a Program heard that? It really goes to show just how godlike Users are that we can just copy and delete these beings like it was nothing. Oh crap, the Fridge Horror is starting to set in now.
To me it seems like half the people who saw the movie had either not seen the first Tron, were not paying attention, or simply aren't "getting" it, and they use the lack of details as a way of saying it's a bad movie. I loved the first and this one because these little things made me want to come up with my own answers and it sparked my imagination as a kid, but now this is being used against the movie by critics who just don't get that this is a whole different universe/plane of existence with it's own rules. Programs aren't robots, they are living beings and we Users are their gods. I don't understand why some people can't wrap their heads around that.
I think one of the problems is that Tron, while sci-fi, isn't in a very familiar genre, like a space operas or a superhero movie. Even though the first came out almost thirty years ago, the whole concept of being sucked into cycberspace really hasn't been used much since then, at least not seriously or even too well for that matter until Legacy, save for Reboot. The series needs to establish some more rules about cyberspace and fill in the details of how things work. The Tron world is the way it is because someone, Flynn the Grid's case, made it that way. Within the Grid, a User like Sam or Flynn is kind of like a magic user from a Marvel or DC comic; they can alter the reality of the world to a certain degree, depending on their skill. If they had taken the time to explain everything it would have ruined the pace of the movie. Sorry for the rant, but it bugs me that some people won't suspend their disbelief or just use their imaginations.
From now on, if someone nit picks at the details needlessly, I'm just telling them "Jeff Bridges is God, that's why."
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...That is true. I guess it's not entirely different, just unfamiliar and very open to interpretation, which is what the series is attempting to do, in a very stylistic way. I wonder, if D Js are MP 3 players, are there theaters in the city that play avi files?
I've thought a little more about Sam, and I think that maybe his character needs to be reexamined. I originally thought he was pretty bland and boring and that Hedlund was a bad actor, but think about it a moment; he's pretty much the only normal character for much of the movie. Most of the other characters are weird, hammy, or flamboyant, and I think that Sam is just overshadowed. He's not a bad character, he's just different from everyone else and I think he was meant to simply be more subtle in characterization. He seemed pretty cool in the "real" world when he was pulling his prank, because in there he's not acting normal. On the Grid, he just doesn't stand out as much, because he sort of fits into it. He did have some cool and funny moments when he was adjusting to the games, but after that I think Kevin sort of took over.
Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...Did anyone here think the original Tron was stupid? I never got that feeling when watching the movie, but I could be wrong...
Not that great effects by today's standards? Sure.
Stupid? Not really no.
Alright, because everywhere I go people say this, some say it when talking about Legacy.
Along the lines of "Yeah Tron Legacy was stupid, the original was stupid."
The wierd thing is some people use that to defend Tron Legacy...
Do they by some slim chance define what makes the movies "stupid?"
Movies are much more enjoyable when you stop giving a shit about what critics have to say about it. I still tend to overanalyse movies, but I'd rather see one for myself then listen to some 60-year old windbag prattle on about how the flashing lights made his eyes hurt.
Against all tyrants.
