So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I'm getting more disappointed with how they redesigned Rinoa's face
◊. I mean she looks like a blast to play and her mechanics look fun and interesting. But VIII had really distinct character designs where all the characters had very unique facial structure, especially compared to Nomura's artwork now which has moved on to Only Six Faces territory.

She looks like Tifa cosplaying as Rinoa... At least the face and the hair redesign does.

I'm honestly not seeing much of a difference besides a longer nose, longer hair, and less pixel-y skin and eyes.
Her jaw/head seems more slender I guess, but I chalk that up to "this is what the original was striving for but was limited to PS 1-era graphics."

There's a lot of difference. For one, she looks less... asian? Asian-ish I guess would be the term. I blame that on the eyes. Her bangs are longer and more symmetrical and also hug her face more. Her hair is brown instead of black with brown streaks. Her face is wider, with larger eyes and less pronounced cheekbones.
The skin color difference is more due to the lighting.
It's close enough that one can tell its Rinoa, but re-designed enough to feel off.

The eyes are bigger and less "Asian", but that seems more, I don't know, more detailed? There's a white dot in her eyes that makes the image seem more expressive to me. In the PS 1 days they probably couldn't put that much detail or make the eyes as visible.
Her bangs are longer, granted.
It looks to me like her PS 1 face had brown tinges around her bangs - or maybe that's just the lighting - so in the Dissidia version the brown traces are just more noticable. Her hair looks black to me, although the whole "dark brown hair that sometimes looks black but isn't" thing always bugs me when I look at people.
Her face looks... "fuller" in the PS 1 version. The Dissidia one looks... "lesser?" I suppose she does look a bit "whiter" but, given the dress, the pose, the hair, and the smile I really wouldn't have noticed a difference otherwise.
I can't read human facial expressions and hair colors, sue me.

She literally looks like "generic anime girl #6" in the new design.
So apparentley Rinoa being added, sort of confirms a "leaked" list of the season pass DLC character will be for Dissidia NT. Also according to said list the remaining characters are (keep in mind to take this with the tiniest grain of salt):
- A male XI villain, probably Eald'narche
- Yuna (weather she's based on her X or X-2 moveset is unkown)
- Snow (Based on his Lightning Returns appearance)
Again, this could just be bullshit but it supposedly got the first three characters right so we'll see

Yeah since Lightning's story costume is from Lightning Returns, Snow will likely be the same. His original outfit will probably still be his default.
Probably classic Snow moves to instead of giving him the l'cie Bardiche or the Cie'th arm in Lightning Returns's bossfight.
