I don't know how much it veers into spoiler territory considering that it's almost a well-known part of the game for those in the know.

Shinji's death is a bit of a spoiler but I wouldn't call him an "advertised" character. A new player wouldn't meet him until a 3rd of the way into the game, he joins just before the halfway mark, and dies before the last third.

Regarding the spoiler concern...I don't know this game at all, but if the identity of the person in the photograph is a spoiler, I'll add my 2c that I can't make out a face in the uncropped version, but it's somewhat clearer in 5.3. I will agree that even uncropped it looks like a funeral/memorial type of event.

The current caption is very clunky and overexplainy IMO, especially with the labelnote. I'll just consider this a 'no consensus' case and close.

The scene from the current is definitely sad, but Akihiko's reaction borders on Narm to me, and the caption does most of the heavy lifting.
Considering the presentation of this game, finding a good Tear Jerker image is probably gonna be hard, but my suggestion for the time being is Yukari's breakdown during The Answer.
