Old Complete Monster cleanup thread
Welcome to the new Complete Monster (CM) cleanup thread! This thread is where we clean up or cut already-existing entries.
If you're looking to add new entries, please see the approval thread.
IMPORTANT: Before you begin any discussions on this thread, please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List. Here, you'll find explanations of the criteria for the trope as well as our rules/procedures for approving and cutting candidates.
What goes through this thread?
- Cut requests. If you believe a CM has been approved and they do not count, this thread is where you propose their removal. To know how to go about this, please see the FAQ folder on the Administrivia page, where the process is explained in detail.
- If we ever need to consider cutting multiple examples without individually reviewing them (e.g. if we discover widespread plagiarism with a particular troper's CMs), the initial discussion will be on this thread and we'll then escalate to the mod team (as described here) to get a formal consensus if we decide to recommend a mass cut.
- If an entry was put on the wrong subpage/YMMV page, you may propose where they should be moved to.
- Full rewrites of existing entries, including expansions, trims, and ground-up rewrites. If your rewrite is approved by the thread, feel free to add it to the drafts page so that other users can check grammar and the like before it is included with the rest of the weekly swaps.
- If an entry on a work's YMMV page doesn't match the entry on the media subpage, you can bring it here to discuss which entry works better.
What does not go through this thread?
- New candidate proposals - as stated before, those are done on this thread.
- Unapproved wicks - if a Troper encounters either of these kinds of wicks, they can be cut with no approval.
- Any CM link on a non-YMMV page - as a YMMV trope, it should not be linked on those pages regardless of any cleanup effort. The only exception is if the wick is being used within the definition of another trope.
- If an CM link on a YMMV page refers to an unapproved character. If it refers to an approved character on any such page, the wick can stay. On the other hand, if the unapproved character being linked to sounds like they might have promise (and you don't feel like checking it out for yourself), feel free to mention it on the approval thread - someone may already know why they don't count, or it could invite a brand new discussion!
- Proposals for images, quotes, and videos of already-approved CMs - quotes and images are proposed on the approval thread, while videos can be uploaded normally as they are screened for approval by the moderation.
- Crosswicking examples to YMMV pages - if an example has already been approved and added to the main page, you do not require any special permission to add the example to a work's YMMV page (assuming the work has a page already). If a YMMV page doesn't exist yet, then you can make it yourself, but either way, feel free to just add the example without asking.
- Small changes to existing entries - these can simply be done on a Troper's own prerogative with no approval.
- Spelling and grammar fixes.
- Pothole changes.
- Minor rewordings.
- Spoiler tags.
While these changes do not require any kind of approval, it is requested that should you make any of these changes, you do one of the following:
- Make the same changes on the relevant Sandbox page, then add the Sandbox to the list at the bottom of the drafts page. This will add the Sandbox to the weekly swaps and ensure that the edits end up on the relevant locked page. If the Sandbox is already listed, then once you make the edits, your job is already done!
- If you don't know how the Sandboxes work or simply don't have the time to find it, then you can simply post on the thread about the changes you made. Someone else can then make the edit on the relevant Sandbox and add it to the weekly swaps.
- Alternatively, you can simply request that the change be made directly to the locked page on the Locked Pages thread. Members of this thread keep track of that one, so we will ensure that the changes are made in the Sandbox so that it doesn't get deleted during the next swap.
Again, these changes don't require any approval, but we prefer to keep the entries on the YMMV pages and the locked pages the same in order to avoid any miscommunication or errors between entries, so if you do make the change, we would greatly appreciate it if you could ensure the change is made on the locked page as well.
As a final note, we do not care what other sites have to say regarding whether or not a character counts. We have our own criteria and they have theirs for their CM equivalents; while they are similar, they are not exactly the same and should not be treated as such. Another site removing a character from their equivalent should not be a reason why a cut is proposed here, and if this is the case, it will likely lead to mod intervention.

Would anyone mind if I add these lines to these entries?
- Lightspeed Rescue: Queen Bansheera is the queen of the demons and by far the worst of their ilk. Bansheera desires to rule the world and recreate her castle and has no care for any of her minions, being one of the worst bosses in the entire franchise. To return to power she callously absorbs her loyal minion Vypra for failing her. Bansheera later attempts to stop the Lightspeed Rescue Rangers from preventing an asteroid from hitting the earth, endangering the entire planet. She later forces her general Diabolico to open fire on his enemies without caring that her most loyal minion Loki, whose only desire has ever been to serve her, is caught in the blast and dies. When he goes against her, Diabolico has his mind forcibly erased to serve as her unwilling pawn. She also shows little regard for her own son Olympius and ordered him abandoned to his fate while laughing. She later has him forced to fight alongside a brainwashed Diabolico, and his death provokes no feeling in her whatsoever. In the finale, Bansheera attempts to open a gateway to the demon realm allowing all demon-kind to pour out and overwhelm humanity, even attempting to drag Carter Grayson down to the demon realm with her after she fails. Bansheera is one of the franchise's cruelest villains and does her evil for her own selfish ambitions.
- Wild Force: Dr. Viktor Adler was once a kind ecologist. After his crush married his colleague, he became jealous and paranoid. Eating the remains of Master Org, he used his new powers to murder the couple and attempted to murder their baby son. Hating nature because it reminded him of their "betrayal", he revived Master Org's plot to destroy all non-Org life. Reacting to defeats badly, it was common to see him destroying Org statues in fits of rage, murdering dormant Orgs in temper tantrums. When Retinax didn't recognize him, Adler killed him, and when Toxica and Jindrax discover his secret he brainwashes them. Teaming up with the Mut Orgs, Adler attempts to have them destroy a nuclear power station in a plot to irridiate the earth and reduce it to a lifeless, polluted hellscape. His worst act is slowly killing Cole's friends while fighting Cole just because he was the son of the couple he was jealous of, claiming he'd enjoy their suffering "even more than [his] parents!" Reviving the three General Orgs as slaves bound to his will, he ate the Org Heart to make himself invincible, seeking to cover the world in black clouds that spawn mooks to destroy humanity. A petty, jealous and cruel man who has long stripped himself of any good, Adler is one of the franchise's most evil humans, and one of its darkest characters.
What do you guys think? Worth adding.

Also there's this Power Rangers writeup:
- Octomus The Master is a demonic entity intent on destroying everything good. Prior to the start of the series, Octomus brainwashed Leanbow into becoming his loyal servant Koragg. Once he emerges, Octomus possesses a follower who had turned good and was trying to prevent his rebirth and mutates his body into his own twisted image; he then possesses Leanbow and Udonna's son Bowen—aka Nick Russell—directly, transforming him into a much more sadistic and vicious version of Koragg who laid waste to parts of the forest and Rootcore before he was saved. After being exorcised from Nick, Octomus attacks and destroys the Mystic Mother's palace in a matter of minutes and kills both Leanbow and Daggeron when they investigate the destruction before dropping their corpses down before the Rangers; finally, he obliterates time itself, transporting the Rangers to the future he plans to create where he's reduced the Earth to a barren, lifeless husk for no apparent reason other than because he can.
There's some minor factual changes that needs to be done, he doesn't mutate his follower's body...he straight up bursts out of it and that's when he officially "emerges". And he later commands his remaining followers to "lay waste to the surface world" which they do while he attacks the palace.
Oh Idk how we deal with plagiarism for writeups but:
is more or less copied from Octomus' wiki page.

I like the rewrites. Actually while we're at it, this line always read kind of awkwardly to me (specifically the use of the word mook instead of Org)

Really dig the updated entries, Scraggle, 43 and mir, great work to you all!
Saying Keep to Sabertooth and Apoc, when there's a character as massive as them, they're gonna have some lone writers wanting to "humanize" them, but in the overall standing of their existence they're utter monsters.
Got a cut to process myself, btw:
- The Strange Thing About the Johnsons: Isaiah is the abusive son of Sidney and Joan Johnson who develops an unhealthy obsession towards the former. Beginning with assaulting his father at a prom, Isaiah subjects his father to 14 years of sexual abuse, threatening bodily harm on him if he contemplated exposing it to the public. Even marriage fails to deter Isaiah, as he expresses little interest in his wife, and he deliberately breaks a glass under the guise of helping to clean up, solely to be alone with his father. After viciously raping Sidney out of anger at him locking the bathroom door, Isaiah tries to guilt trip him into staying in the relationship while additionally blaming him for the abuse. When Joan inquires him about this, Isaiah tries to push his mother into the fireplace.
Isaiah's a really nasty and, uh, uniquely fucked up character who's an abusive monster to his dad, but...when his dad tries to flee from Isaiah with his exposing memoirs in hand detailing the abuse? Isaiah gives chase at first, but then notices his father is running right into the path of an oncoming truck. Isaiah proceeds to scream with genuine horror "Daddy!" to try to warn his father from getting killed, and when his dad is indeed hit by the car and dies, Isaiah cradles his body while openly weeping and crying.
Isaiah's relationship with his dad is a...really gross and abusive one, to say the least, but his reaction to his father being in danger and then killed is one I don't think can be written off as, say, "he's upset that he lost his sex slave." His father was finally fleeing him with the exposing memoirs, yet Isaiah tries to scream a warning for the oncoming truck, and then breaks down and sobs over his father's dead body. It's a level of sorrowful emotion that I can't really attribute to a "complete" monster, even if—again—Isaiah is a horrific bastard.
Gonna have to say cut here, methinks.

Mick Taylor I am not sure if he has enough cut votes since there was a lot of people abstaining. I might switch to it myself since this whole situation seems sketchy and it would be better if someone could read the book to find out if this is disqualifying or not.
CM Sandboxes, MB Sandboxes
Formatting thing I'm finding a little awkward. For stuff like Harry Potter, Legend of the Galactic Heroes and A Song of Ice and Fire I don't really like the "Two types of mediums", "Counts in medium A" and "Counts in medium B" sections. Are we okay to simply do a section for people who count in the original medium noted as such (Literature) and then one for people who count—or count differently—in the adaptation like we do on most pages?
