So.

While I am also excited for the possibility of Charles Xavier, via hearing Patrick Stewart's voice, lets not get too deep on this. Like, they had Evan Peters show up, seemingly as Quicksilver, but we all saw how that turned out. And while I don't think Marvel will swerve us THAT hard ever again, this could also be a Winter Soldier Scenario, when the thing we think is most important is actually covering the real Hydra has infiltrated shield twist.

Moreover, I think it's fair to say this isn't going to be The Fox-men timeline version of Xavier. Just one who's going to be reminiscent of that version.

Yeah, but either way, we're going to be seeing Patrick Stewart in this movie, and that itself will be awesome even if he's not Xavier (but I'll be optimistic and say he probably is).

Fair enough.

So...

Any bets on if they'll bring back the dude who played Black-Bolt in the Inhumans and use this movie as a chance to start fresh with them?

I know the comics have basically put them on ice, but they said that would last about five years, and I think we've hit that mark or are at least rather close.

I find it's best that unless a leak is explicitly vouched for by a source known to be reliable, it's best to dismiss it out of hand. While once in a long while one will turn out to be right, it's too easy to be convinced by a leak that includes what you want, or fear, to be true.

Yep. After the "Fake Pietro" / Ralph Bohner nonsense, people need to temper their expectations. For all we know, there's a lot of misdirection going on.

[up] I'm actually pretty confident that the person we see in the trailer is indeed Xavier. He might not be the precise variant we saw in any of the Foxverse movies, but he's still going to be Xavier by any reasonable definition.

Misdirection is absolutely a thing Marvel does. But they've never gone as far as to imply a well-known character is present in a movie in the marketing and then not had them appear in the actual movie. There's not really any benefit to that particular kind of misdirection and it's bound to generate a lot of backlash.

Usually trailer misdirection is done to obscure the continuity of the movie or hide a particular plot element they want to keep secret, not hype people up for something that isn't actually happening.

Regarding the Captain Marvel variant, her hair is shorter than Monica Rambeau’s typical look, to which I see people theorizing that’s not Monica, but her mother Maria…

I wanna ask, does anyone have any more variant theories of which variants might appear in the film?

With Doctor Strange and Wanda, I think we get their Zombie variants, which would be appropriate for a film directed by Sam Raimi. Strange also has Sinister Strange.

Wanda looks like she might have two other variants besides the original one and the Zombie one.

Hi, theorists: input appreciated on this query about an Edit War on Characters.Doctor Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness would be appreciated, specifically how much can be reasonably said to be 'confirmed'. I haven't even seen the trailer in full (just social media reactions), let alone analyses, so I can't really weigh in.

I just think adding detailed character pages to a movie that isn't out yet is completely unnecessary. At best, it's gonna lead to nothing but all spoilered entries, which are close to useless, and at worst it will lead to all spoilered entries that then need to be heavily edited.

I think there's this urge for some editors to be "first" in making changes, especially with MCU pages, but it rarely ends well.

I think only the confirmed characters should be on the list (Strange, Wanda, Wong, Chavez, Mordo, Christine, West for now).

Ya know this is a pretty powerful cast we got.

Strange and Wanda are both reality warping mages and America is a superheavy lightning bruiser who is pretty fucking strong.

Granted she'll most likely be weaker here in conjunction with her younger age but still she's pretty hardcore.

Yes, Wanda brainwashed an entire town...accidentally, in her grief over the death of her lover. While Doctor Strange intentionally brainwashed the entire world and nearly caused the multiverse to collapse just so a kid could get into his preferred college."

I'm gonna disagree with this. For one, Peters secret identity was negatively effectimg the life's of those around him.(MJ and Nate being implied to have been rejected of their because of their association with Peter). It's not like being Spiderman was information that the entire world needed to know and unlike the comics,Peter didn't agree to have his ID revealed himself.

Secondly, the verse breaking is more on Peter than Strange.First Peters insistence on making exceptions mid spell and Petters insistence that the Villains not be sent back until he could find a way to save them.

Not gonna lie.Her going 'Its not fair!' does annoy me since at just comes across as 'Forget all those people I traumatized,I'm the victim here!'

I just don't think it works as a comparison .Unless something happens in the movie

I know some are worried about Marvel subverting/tricking the audience with some things, but my best bet the 'trolling' in this instance won't be with Xavier but rather the rumoured recasting of Tom Cruise as Tony Stark

Note that the rumor is someone claiming to have gotten ahold of the actual end credits of the movie that coincidentally happens to be chock full of a fan-pics within hours of the trailer.

Like, it's supposed to be a cam shot of the film in an actual theatre.

Or in other words, white text on a black screen. Grain of salt.

Just occurred to me with how stacked the movie is with potential 'obligations' that it could easily turn out to be another Spider-Man 3 situation for Raimi.

-Has to be a follow-up to Doctor Strange

-Has to be a follow-up To Wandavision

-Has to be a follow-up to No Way Home

-Has to be a follow-up to X-Men

-Has to be a horror movie

-Has to be somewhat accessible to casual viewers all at the same time.

I do not envy this man.

At least a few of those I don't think are going to be really that problematic. The following up to Strange 1/Wanda Vision is easily enough done through some expedient dialogue/exposition - of people haven't seen those, it's not the "job" of this film to recap on them. This is an MCU product, people really ought to know by now a bit of cross-film/TV shenanigans is going to be going on.

Plus it does not really follow that this will have anything to do with Fo X-Men. Even if Stewart is back as Xavier that's not at all the same as him being the same Xavier from that series. Multiverse is right there in the title.

Raimi is also really good at getting a bit of Horror into a PG film, look at the "tentacle surgery" from SM 2 so again I'm fairly confident the guy's got this.

If Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is going to introduce the Multiverse, I would really look for in seeing the introduction of the MCU version of Squadron Supreme. It's a obscure comic, but it was one of the earliest deconstructions of superhero comics alongside Watchmen.

What really makes the leaks plausible to me is a lot of them seem to line up with what has been revealed in the trailer so far. Unless there's something else other than the reddit leaks I found.

I know there was a pretty well circulated "leak" that cast Wanda in an overtly antagonistic role, which was pretty clearly contradicted by the first teaser.

Yeah, while this trailer might've "confirmed" some leaks/rumors, You still should still take every with a grain of salt.
