Works for me. I'll start it when I get back to my desktop. In the meantime, should we start up an alternate names crowner for Schoolgirl Lesbians?
My troper wallGone ahead and whipped up an alternative names crowner here. Currently blank, but feel free to whip up some names.
Edit: also started up the TLP here

My troper wallThere were a few suggestions upthread, so I added them.
Just remembered this is a new trope, isn't it? Is rename + redefine a thing handled by TRS or can it go through TLP?

yea- it wasn't my intention to start an entirely new trope I was just trying to come up with a clear definition for Schoolgirl Lesbians. But if we're changing both the title and the description that's just basically making two new tropes
So, make those two in TLP and make this one a disambiguation? Or redirect Schoolgirl Lesbians to the new title?

If we decide to TLP the second definition as well, someone else will have to run it through. I'd rather only be in charge of only one draft at a time tops in TLP.
My troper wallThe names crowner is hooked.
Added "Cute Gay School Romance" as I think it makes more grammatical sense than "Cute School Gay Romance"
I went through the examples while looking for usable ones for my TLP draft, and saw a lot of uses that are covered by other tropes. Tomorrow, I'll go ahead and start the process of moving them to their proper tropes, whether that be Yuri Genre, Queer Romance, Coming-Out Story, If It's You, It's Okay, etc. Don't expect it done all at once as there are a lot.
My troper wallThe current most popular option is Coming Of Age Queer Romance. Would that trope just be Coming of Age Story plus Queer Romance?
Well, I mean, it is both of those things, yes, but it's a specific set of tropes combining those things. I haven't seen glee, but from what I understand it has gay romance and also is a bit of a coming of age story, but doesn't really fall into the description I just gave
Then my concern is that people will read the title literally and misuse it. Also, upon rereading the list of features, I'm not sure they describe an actual genre or a single trope. It seems more like a list of related tropes, as opposed to one distinct thing.

No, they aren't just collections of tropes. I could list works that all happen to have the same four or five specific tropes and that wouldn't constitute a genre. Genres have to be recognized in culture, I have to be able to say it‘a name or it's components and have someone be able to recognize it.
I think we should take this trope to TLP and sort this out there, because what we really need right now are some actual examples, both to judge if it's Too Rare to Trope and to see if any patterns emerge in them.
Also (this could help us figure out a name) Tremmor 19, when you created the definition, we’re the works you had in mind primarily/exclusively manga?

If no one else wants to make the proposed tlp draft, I can when I wake up on the 12th. I'll be launching the trope Gay Romantic Phase, which is a split from this one, around midnight that day as it's ready to go (and I'm an extreme night owl, so expect me to wake around 5 pacific). Once we figure out what's going on with THAT trope (the one that hasn't had its draft worked up), though, prepare to clean up a mess. Schoolgirl Lesbians has over 1300 wicks to go through, and I'm sure some of them fit with other tropes.
My troper wallmostly manga, yea, although I was also thinking of a couple of Webcomics (such as Kat and Paz from gunnerkrigg court)
At any rate I'm not strongly attached to this as a definition- I was mostly just trying to define the trope more clearly
I'm perfectly happy with running it through TLP. I mostly want to save the (good) examples as I do think there a specific concept in "schoolgirl lesbians" that isn't covered by just "schoolgirls" or "lesbians" combined

Alright Gay Romantic Phase has been launched, indexed, and largely crosswicked. I'm getting a bit mentally tired after that, so I'll rest up a bit before crosswicking the see also tropes. (It's been a long time since I've launched a trope, so I'm not used to having to do all this crosswicking one works I'm not familiar with)
My troper wall~tremmor19, if you're still up for running the second TLP draft, I'm happy to help out however I can.
Also, once the trope is split, there's still the question of what to do with the current page. I see three options, from most likely to least likely to be implemented:
- Disambiguation page: standard fate defunct trope pages like Bi The Way. The problem is they still tend to draw links to them, which could make cleaning it and keeping it clean annoying.
- Redirect to the second new TLP (not to Gay Romantic Phase, as the concept is too narrow and different from what the name implies). I do like this option, but it does rely on the second idea being tropable, plus keeping misuse down might be a bit of a pain.
- Index: I like this option, but I admit that there will be a lot of crossover with the current Queer Astropes index and I'm not sure it's a distinct enough idea in general for an index, plus people still linking to it as a trope.
- Delete: My personal preference, since it prevents the linking problem outright, but, with over 36,000 inbounds, it's about as likely to happen as cutting Bi The Way entirely (read: snowball's chance in hell).
Also, due to this article being split, the page pic was taken from it and given to Yuri Genre to replace the image from a non-P5 compliant work.
My troper wallI am pretty busy IRL at the moment- if someone puts it on TLP I'll help out, if not I'll get around to putting it there eventually, but probably not until at least december.
And Split/Disambiguate is fine with me
Alright, before I go to bed, I just want to say I have a few ideas for examples and the beginnings of a description (I'm thinking something on the lines of a character reaching puberty and discovering their sexuality, and that it's not (completely) heterosexual via discovering their romantic feelings for someone of the same gender). It needs probably a week to stew in my head, and I'm pursuing one of the ideas I have for an example (The manga for Adachi And Shimamura, since I'm only familiar with the anime), to help me write a solid example along with wanting to read it anyway.
If I'm on the wrong track with the trope description, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll post again when I have a solid description in mind.
My troper wallThat brief description sounds like its just Coming-Out Story.
I was thinking more LGBT Awakening, but yeah, I'm starting to become less convinced there's a second distinct drops here myself.
On the other hand, I do have a good idea for a description now and it'll be interesting f to see what TLP makes of it. If it's decided that its not tropeable, well, that just moves things forwards and means we can be rid of a badly named trope while getting one good trope out of it (Gay Romantic Phase).
My troper wallAlright, TLP is up (here), so feel free to help out. Name is the current crowner leader, and can be changed if deemed necessary.
Also, if we can just ignore that I accidentally put the draft up three times due to site lag, that would be great... (I discarded the two extras, at least)
My troper wallLate to the conversation, but that's normal for me. So, to see if I understand this correctly, examples for characters like Yukino Kikukawa from My-HiME would go under Token Yuri Girls as a secondary character with a clear attraction to her best friend. Is that a correct reading of the proposed action?
I guess? Token Yuri Girls should probably get its own TRS thread, because "lesbian supporting character" isn't much of a trope.
Crown Description:
"Cute School Gay Romance" as suggested by Tremmor? The title and more can be further worked out in TLP.
