Noir doesn't really work for superman. It's supposed to be a lighter work.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I do know that. I'm just guessing that some people wanted something that looked more serious.
Honestly, based on the promo art, it kind of gives a Lighter and Softer version of the Harley Quinn show vibe, which I'm fine with. I'm also realizing this is legit the first Superman Cartoon since STAS from the 90s. That's crazy.
As an aside, there's so much bad faith criticism around She-Ra it's hard to really engage with. This show seemingly sharing an art design does not phase me.

Also you never know . Art-Style Dissonance and Cerberus Syndrome are a thing. It might become darker later.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Are we forgetting Legion of Super-Heroes already?
That had to count for something, right?
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Looks fun. Granted another instance of them racelifting a ginger into only a black man, but it looks interesting.
Hopefully the animation is good and it sticks to HBO Mac and not CN.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Think Jimmy has just become the guy they can Race Lift without issue nowadays.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Not even the first time this has happened to Jimmy, either. At least he's not uncharacteristically swole and handsome here, that was just weird seeing a guy like that being called Jimmy Olsen.
Actually, some day, I'd love to see a full-on Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen cartoon. Just go total Silver Age, it'd be so fun to watch.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks Marathonx4: I was thinking about including Legion, but that was also a team show that just happened to have Superman as the newcomers' eyes in the world of the Legion. It felt like considering the Justice League cartoons as "Superman-focused Cartoons".
x2: Nor the second, factoring in Superman: American Alien. Interestingly, that book featured an Asian-American Lois Lane too, in light of Alice Lee of playing this Lois. Though I can't say for if it's a case of Ink-Suit Actor until more info comes out.

Well, it did focus on Supes (or Superboy in this case) a lot and he was the main character. That said, the quirky teammates mostly stole the show.
It was also a criminally underrated cartoon. If the idea here is "Superman, but Lighter and Softer" they could do well to take some cues from it. I don't usually enjoy superhero shows, but Legion (the first season, at least) was supremely fun.
"I like girls, but now, it's about justice."Huh wow being racelifted into Asian is surprising. Being turned black is kind of the go to with racelifting, so seeing a character turned into instead Asian is interestingly enough far rarer.
Man Legion was a good cartoon. Shame it never got a 3rd season.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."...For a second, I thought you were talking about Legion, which is a lot more serious.
It's been 3000 years…I'm actually really excited for this show! Even more than Bruce Timm working on Batman again.
Maybe it's because I come from a background of watching Lois & Clark and the early seasons of Smallville, but I've been craving a slice of life story on Clark and Lois.
I'm surprised Lois doesn't get race-lifted more often, as she has no defining physical traits for people to complain about.
There's a reason why its only done with supporting characters like Jimmy.
Characters like Lois are too major so they feel more uncomfortable changing more relatively minor characters like Jimmy.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."People keep saying the Superman films, for instance, have gotten too grim. Not surprising they went for a lighter tone for the cartoon.
I think both sound cool.
We have an interview with our newest animated televised Superman: Jack Quiad.
Speaking of grim and gritty, you may also recognize him as main character Hughie Campbell from The Boys, who'll play alongside Jensen Ackles in its upcoming season.
So, who else do you want to see appear at some point?
Wake me up at your own risk.Lex Luther played by Giancarlo esposito. He is the perfect actor to play him.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Oh absolutely, I would love that.
If this series continues the trend of Perry White being black, then I'd love for Keith David to voice him.

Mxyzptlk is perfect for a more light-hearted Superman show.
It's been 3000 years…Lobo is always a hoot.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
I'm guessing given how the art style for Batman: Caped Crusader looked very film noir like (given the public's perception of Batman), I'm guessing people wanted something that looked like it fit their perception of Superman (like in Superman: The Animated Series).
