Unclear Description: Next Gen Fic

That would make it a rename rather than a merge.

I think a trope about fanfics focusing on OC children of canon characters seems tropeworthy.

I meant we merge Next Gen Fic into Spin-Offspring, then make a different trope to describe the kind of Original Characters found in the former.

Yeah, the problem is the "fanfic" part is likely redundant with Spin-Offspring. It's the "OC children of canon characters" part that I think we can salvage into a trope.

Is disambiguating Next Gen Fic between Spin-Offspring and the TLP (and maybe the offspring of canon characters trope) an option? It seems to indicate both.

I'd be up for disambiguating.

Another good thing about this subtrope is many people make fanchildren without necessarily making narratives for them, as is the case with any Original Character. So this covers more ground than just fanfics starring these characters.

Yes, this is what I meant as well. A fic about Albus Potter should be a Spin-Offspring work, while if William Gaunt (Albus's friend and the bastard son of Tom Riddle) is in the work, William is an Original Character and the work is still a Spin-Offspring. There would also be the potential of a work still being about the protagonists, like if Morgan Stark found out she had a half-sibling while working with Sam Wilson and Shuri. It isn't a Spin-Offspring story, but it does have an OC that is a child of the protagonists.

Bump. There's four in the green but the one definitive thing now is that people like the idea of an Original Character subtrope, so that draft can be made anytime.

Weird that the point dependent on merging is getting more consensus than the merge itself.

I considered making the draft but I have too much on my plate (such as a ton of semi-abandoned drafts of my own), so feel free.

Does this also mean Flash-Forward Fic is still on the table, since it's listed in the disambiguate option, or is that in itself redundant with something like Distant Sequel?

I posted on the draft that it seems a viable subtrope.

I took some examples from the Next Gen Fic page that fit Flash Forward Fic and added them to the draft. The rest of the page probably belongs to Fan-Created Offspring. Luckily there's not too many on-page examples and there's only 84 wicks now.

I might set a launch date for FFF soon so we can replace the wicks sooner.
