Not Thriving: Small Start Big Finish

As with other unthriving tropes, another suggestion would be to send this to the Trope Launch Pad.

That's basically the "yard" suggestion; we don't send things to TLP unless they have a willing sponsor, because TRS things tend to suffer in TLP.

Even with a sponsor... TLP is a different culture/group than TRS.

So yeah. Sending it to the Yard is just sending it to TLP, but with the caveat that we need a willing, active sponsor to pick up the idea from the list and flesh it out.

...Crowner time?

Do these make sense as options? I got a little confused when going through the discussion.

• Split Small Start, Big Finish into "Gaining Confidence" Song and another trope about songs that "start small and end big" in terms of instrumentation.
• Keep Small Start, Big Finish, expand examples.
• Cut the trope, add type labels to Salvage Yard.

For the splitting option I'm down to sponsor the second type.

For the "Keep" option, mention that the GCS draft would become a subtrope and examples might have to be moved over when SSBF is expanded.

Otherwise, looks fine to me.

Do we call or do we wait a day? I made the crowner on the 17th but it was hooked on the 18th. Still, consensus seems somewhat clear.

If we aren't ready to call, consider this a vote bump.

Because mods have ruled crowners invalid before, I start the clock when it gets attached.

I started on Sandbox.Small Start Big Finish, then; all help is appreciated. I'll try to expand examples over the weekend. Thinking of taking this to TLP to see if anyone has more examples, too.

Yeah, do that. I'll probably launch GCS soon now that this has been decided.

What do we do with the current wicks in the meantime?

I looked through them already and incorporated them into the draft. Only Peter Pan (1954) doesn't appear to fit.

Would it be acceptable to start adding non-theatrical examples now?

I mean, yeah. This has never been a purely theatrical trope. Check out the TLP draft for it.

I'm inclined to say wait, just to be on the safe side.

Also, when I was looking for the relevant links to add Ravel's "Bolero" to the TLP, I noticed there is a trope Boléro Effect and I was wondering how many of those samples are a steady crescendo, and how many are more SSBF, and whether those two tropes are different enough from each other.

Boléro Effect sounds like a subtrope, though me not understanding musical terms very well means it's hard for me to explain what the difference is.
