Hooked!
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIdeally the new description would be an amalgamation of both...
Pretty much everything in Anything Can Be Music is covered by Everything Is an Instrument, but the latter's description needs some trimming of the 3rd paragraph:
- Often a part of folk music. There is a whole weird and wonderful world of folk musicians who play some very odd items: the saw, for example. Take a violin bow that you don't like much, bend your saw, and stroke the sharp edge with the bow. It eats the horsehair like nothing else, but you can roughly reproduce the sound of a wolf howling. Actually, you will occasionally hear the musical saw in bluegrass albums: or else an electric guitar doing an imitation of this instrument. Other notable odd instruments include the glass armonica: which is based upon the common practice of stroking glass rims with a wet finger. This instrument gives you a large selection of glasses suspended over a bin of water, allowing you to play it similarly to an organ. Unlike most improvised instruments, this one was actually taken somewhat seriously by Classical musicians. Unfortunately though, the glass armonica is unreliable even on a good day. Most pieces written with it in mind are more frequently played on handbells. Some musicians do still play the glasses though, and occasionally this technique will show up in jazz or experimental music. Some of these instruments have even gone mainstream: the steel drum, for example. Basically, if it makes a sound then there's a good chance someone at least tried to make it into an instrument.
I think we can safely put that on the Analysis/ page.
Votes bump.
Moderator note: When handling the video examples, note that one of the videos on Anything Can Be Music is missing a source. It is Family Guy, though I'd like to know which episode.
I'm back!Wait, I never agreed to a merge.
Pretty much everyone on the previous page did, though.
Your proposed distinction was immediately shot down, with thread consensus supporting a merge. However, if none of the crowner options can gain consensus, we won't be able to merge.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportBump. The leading option to keep Everything Is an Instrument as a title was blanked for some reason; I restored it.
It was part of a string of blank edits from an anonymous user, so I think it's safe to assume that it was either vandalism or a bot.
I forgot that logging in was optional for editing crowners (but I do recall a bunch of spam crowners created by anonymous bots), since anonymous wiki editing was removed years ago. Has anyone submitted a wishlist request regarding this?

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass....That might explain this.
Anyway, can we call it?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessConsensus is to merge Anything Can Be Music into Everything Is an Instrument, with the latter keeping its description. Make it so!

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDewicking Anything Can Be Music is done. I noted the merge on Everything Is an Instrument's discussion page.
Now we need to move examples from the former to the latter. Video examples included.

The unsourced video is from Family Guy, but which episode?
I'm back!It probably doesn't matter; let's just do the move and if we figure out the episode that can be worried about later.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOkay, I think I got most of the valid examples. Most were already on Everything Is an Instrument. I left notes on the ones I did not move.
Bump. This is done except for the video examples.
Crown Description:
Consensus agreed to merge Anything Can Be Music with Everything Is An Instrument. Which title do we keep, and which description do we keep?
Bump. Consensus for the merge direction?
