I am not seeing how the "in Real Life" part of the crowner is satisfied by Does This Remind You Of Anything Sandbox.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThere's this line?
- The comparison is to something in real life. If it is compared to something in other media and the resemblance is deliberate, that's Shout-Out or Expy.
After a few paragraphs and in one of these horrid "reader-facing instructions"? Nay, I don't think that works.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI tweaked it slightly, cutting the Captain Ersatz bit (which is just confusing, IMO) and adding the "deliberate" and "real life" bits to the top, as well as pushing the criteria list up higher. Is that any better?

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.More readable.
Questions:
- First paragraph states that only the audience is supposed to recognize the similarity, not the characters. Later on, there is a sentence mentioning what can happen if another character notices. Are these contradictory?
- Page lists G-Rated Sex as a subtrope, but that page has a (Bolded!) note that it is not DTRYOA. Which is correct?
- That second point is a character misunderstanding what's going on, not drawing a deliberate comparison, so it's not contradictory but could maybe be better explained.
- I....don't know about G-Rated Sex. The description suggests it's a fantasy equivalent of sex, so I guess it might not count because it is sex in a way, not just a situation representative of sex?
I do think, for example, this on G-Rated Sex would qualify as DTRYOA:
- Dinosaurs: Robbie reflexively does "the mating dance" in school, obviously a substitute for getting an erection. He later tries to learn more about sex by visiting a dance hall of ill repute. And Charlene gets self-conscious when her tail starts to grow.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. Is G-Rated Sex specifically about, well...actual sex, or do things like count?
I wouldn't say it's a Subtrope if not every example would fit, personally. More like a "compare to" trope.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIt seems to cover both examples that replace sex with a fantastic equivalent of reproduction (i.e. the page image) and examples where the characters' reproduction is only implied (i.e. Pokemon eggs).
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.So...hmm. Yeah, I'm not sure anymore if it's a subtrope or not.
