Needs Help: Useful Notes.A Side Note About Branching

I'm marking this page for potential removal for the following reasons:

• The article is a little too niche. Branching in computer software isn't something you really hear about in day-to-day conversations even in tech circles.
• Some of the content is covered in Central Processing Unit, particularly about out-of-order execution and hardware bugs. Should the content of A Side Note About Branching be preserved anyway, it's probably a better fit in Central Processing Unit
• The article also feels too much like a guide or similar. Like a "this is how you should think about things" sort of article. I mean, it's a good topic, but something that's better suited in an actual programmer's guide than TV Tropes.

Honestly, just rename it to "UsefulNotes.Branching". The article itself can stay. Would that work?

(Just for context, the page's only wick is in UsefulNotes.How Video Game Specs Work, in the "Hardware" section, as a sub-point of UsefulNotes.Central Processing Unit).

Incredibly niche and a stub to boot. +1 to delete.

I don't really get the point of this. How is a page about a specific programming technique supposed to help people understand how reality is portrayed in fiction better?

The problem is that the page was created for one specific instance (see above), and I'm not sure how important it is to that one instance.

It might be worth pointing out that Main.My SQL (a page about the database software used by TV Tropes) was cut recently, since this thread is also computer-related.

I say rename.

I'll take that as "we need a crowner." So I made one here. It's single proposition for cutting or not, if that's okay.

Should probably have made a Page Action crowner because we've had other votes for things like "rename", but we'll see where this goes IG.

I was thinking that deciding if we should keep the page, and deciding what to do with the page if we kept it, were two different questions that could be asked separately.

Bumping the thread, rehollering to hook the crowner.

Moving it to Useful Notes was also suggested, with that not being mutually exclusive with renaming (the suggestion was to move it to UsefulNotes.Branching).

I'm with Gaston on this. We should have a crowner with more options.

There's also this Page Action crowner, which I created today but didn't bring up because I didn't notice the old one. Feel free to add more options.
