Welcome to HGS: Another Side Another Story. It is a roleplay spinoff for the Hunger Games Simulator forum game, akin to both the RP's in the Roleplaying section as well as the ITTs in Forum Games. It tells the story of the Hunger Games in the Arena of Panem, the nominators who sent the tributes, the tributes themselves both in and out of the Arena or even other people relevant to the Games. In addition, it also tells their stories beyond the Arena.
You can jump right in with any character, like your nominator self, your tributes, etc. The structure of this RP will be open-world. Don't worry about not being skilled/experienced enough or being new to RP'ing. Finally, ASAS accepts any skill level or RP style. Other than these, there are some important rules to note, which are:
- No godmodding will be allowed or tolerated here. The offending player will be given punishment depending on the severity.
- Please communicate anything important you plan on another player with the said player first. Don't just execute it without their consent.
- Don't be rude to other players, both out and in-universe. This extends to RP offenses like railroading, guilt-tripping, coercing, or other forms of forcing them.
- This RP is related to the Hunger Games Simulation:Beyond the Possibilities forum game. Thus it will have events based from that game, including the tributes. This means if you want to RP as tributes, please nominate them officially on the thread first, with misses not being counted. This has to be done after an incident with a player who hasn't joined the game itself yet.
- Since this RP is Loose Canon in relation to the main HGS thread, the host's interpretation of events isn't necessarily 100% canon. Every player has the right to deviate from what the host says and go with their own interpretations. If multiple players have their tributes involved in the same event(s), please communicate with each other so that you're on the same page regarding how you see them.
- This RP chronicles the lives of the nominators and their tributes behind the scenes. While dark plots are acceptable, the overall tone of the RP should be light-hearted and comedic. This RP is not a Cosmic Horror Story or action story about defeating evil. It is a Slice of Life comedy with some adventure to it, first and foremost. Our previous RP, Convergence, is not representative of the intended tone, and the grimdark tone of that RP is one of the main reasons it was retooled.
- Nominators and tributes alike can transform into Pokemon whenever they enter a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon World (but they can bypass this with certain items/methods or shapeshifting) or via other means outside it such as a season event, Transformation Trinkets, or shapeshifting. The players are free to choose the Pokéforms that best suit their characters and even give them color schemes outside the standard and Shiny colors, but there is a hard rule for this. If you want your character's Pokéform to be a Legendary, Mythical, or Ultra Beast, please ask the RP mods for approval. Outside the Arena, these Pokéforms are still OP, but we want to give leeway for tributes who theoretically can have them such as deities.

Detective Gamechanger's Base
A sharp-dressed man in a green suit and yellow tie is standing by the entrance of the base. He is of average height and has whitish skin, though still a bit darker. He is Billy, one of the nominators and the organizer of the party.
Indeed, after the nominators' returned and settled their problems, they decide to have fun with a party. Billy also sent invites for all the other nominators out there, as well as basically anyone else, including tributes, non associated parties, interested nominators who haven't participate yet, or even those who just wants to hang out.
The place itself in the base is refurbished for party purposes. Fancy chairs and tables are set everywhere for people to relax, as well as put food and other objects for the latter. There's also various collections showcased, including those belonging to the Detective, like his classic cars. Various themes to the base are set too, including detective noir as GC would have preferred.
Billy is now awaiting for other guests to arrive. He is also ready to give them a pleasant surprise during the party pertaining to his nation.

Team Fruit Salad's Pit
Though Melodii did alright, it wasn't enough for Letooce to gain another podium finisher or mass murderer. Letooce still had Compile Era Arle for the Death Battle at least, so she told Strawbrey to data clone her. After she did so, Team Fruit Salad continued working on the bot, almost finished with improving it.
Arena
Arle Nadja appeared in the Arena. No, not Arle Tempest. Not the current Arle either. This one was from before she met Ally, Ringo, or even Amitie (though she did end up seeing her in the arena the last season she was in), coming all the way back from the Compile Era.
"Seriously?! I'm back?!" Arle complained to herself. This was her second time competing, and she wasn't exactly happy about it. "Don't tell me this is karma for taking down 9 people last time."
Arle groaned. Puyo Battles didn't work here, she had to fight back. Unfortunately for her, It seemed like she did so one too many times the last season she competed in, and now she was a part of the Death Battle.
Now wasn't the time to mope around though. Arle quit her complaining and readied herself. Just because she didn't want to be here didn't mean that she was going to let her guard down. If that meant defeating more tributes who could possibly harm her, then so be it.
"Alright, here I go again!"

"Well, we'll make do with what we can get," Nine-Tailed Cat said. "If they can help, it's worth giving them a call."
Cassandra perked up. "So if your Stanford doesn't have much experience with magic, that means the evil one probably doesn't have experience with it!" she said. "This could be the edge we're looking for! We do have some wizard tributes, right, boss?"
Nine-Tailed Cat shook his head. "Not ones who'd be good in a fight," he said. "Alexander's spells are more for puzzle-solving than battle, Xan's enchantments are useless against mindless machines, and while the Saurian Augur has some combat capabilities, it's overshadowed by most other Wesnothian casters."
"And the Heroine-Bot was more a warrior than a sorceress, huh?" said Cassandra. "Well, in any case, we might have some useful magic now! I had a feeling picking this thing up would be useful!"
"Maybe once we've translated it and figured out what it does," said Nine-Tailed Cat. "A weapon you don't know how to use is your enemy's weapon, after all."
"Yep, but that just makes getting it figured out even more important!"
I like cute things. You gotta deal with it.

Pythor moved to where his group was awaiting, eager to take a break of his normal duties after his latest success and simultaneously let his project be finished while he rested. Once he'd located where Skales and the other Overlord were calling him from, he arrived at their place and greeted them with a fake sincere tone of friendship.

(Ball calls the control panel, and Nina answers.) Oh, hey, seal person, what’s up?
Oh hey, Nina. Where’s Kay? (Ball asks.)
She wanted to spend some time with Tay, so I’m manning the controls right now. (Nina says.) Not that I have anything to do right now since we don’t have anybody in this season. But what’s up?
We got any magic users or anybody who could read some kind of runes? I’m over at Cat’s place and his assistant Cassandra just came back with that kind of thing. (Ball says.)
Hmm… (Nina calls to Magnus and Conan.) Hey, any of you guys’ magic friends free right now?
Couldn’t tell ya. I figure they’re probably busy gearing up for a fight with Dark Stanford! If they aren’t guarding the lair right here, anyway. (Magnus can be heard responding.)
(Nina goes back to speaking with Ball.) Okay, so the Magic Crafters miiiiiight be a no-go to send you guys’ way right now. I’d call Wanda but I dunno if she’s really versed in that kinda stuff.
Yeah, and I’d kinda hate to interrupt her and Cleo’s visit to Sidon’s place. (Ball says.) Have we nominated many magic users lately?
Think the most recent magic user we’ve nominated was that Jimbo guy, and…uh…I dunno if he’d be willing to cooperate with us. (Nina says.) Can you guys give me a minute to go through the list of people we’ve nominated to find someone who’d be willing to help without turning you guys into mushrooms or something? And probably isn’t too busy like the dragons?

(Oscar looks over at Lucian. He does feel that they’ve been having a really great day.) I’ve been feeling better. How about you, Lucian?
(Henry finishes his tea.) Well, citizens, what shall we do next when we’re finished here?
I think we should find something else fun to do. (Tenn says.) You guys have any ideas?
Hmm…I am not sure. (Phoebe says as she looks between one of her potion bottles and her tea cup.)

Lucian looked over at Oscar too before leaning against him.
"Yeah, I... I feel better too. Thank you, guys. Really, I mean it." the Lycanroc muttered.
"We haven't visited the bakery yet, but I think we're full right now... That leaves the Dojo to try if you guys don't want to go back to the castle yet." Nick said to Henry and Tenn.
"Hm? Phoebe?" Arthur asked, noticing the Gorebyss looking at her tea cup and her potions.
Arena
Apparently this time, Morgan (and Scipion by extension) had nothing to nominate for the Death Battle. It didn't stop the arena from seemingly spawning a useless podium.
When the horn sounded, an ethereal shriek echoed from around the Cornucopia.
Brave Spear's ghost appeared behind Michael in an instant. Judging from his eyes alone, it seemed the ghost was back to being berserk. The phantom was quick to viciously tear Micheal apart with his claws before floating away.
Soon after, the Ghost bumped into Bale (or at least his clone if he wasn't in the arena) enjoying some shellfish. Sensing his selfishness, Brave Spear screeched and savagely attempted to kill him, though he escaped.
But perhaps why the phantom got hostile towards Bale was also that he seemed to have noticed his special link with his dark counterpart...

I couldn’t help puzzling over whether I could recreate a tea like this in some way myself. (Phoebe says.) I think I shall not, though, and keep this special tea unique to this place.
Ah, that makes sense. Besides, you have plenty of other potions you’ve created yourself! (Henry says, picking up one of Phoebe’s other potions.)
Be careful with that one, dear. (Phoebe says.) It will change your colors at random if it gets on you.
Ah yes… (Henry says, gingerly putting the potion back down.)

The Rescue Squad all nodded at Lucian and Oscar. Aaron especially seemed happy to help.
Lucian looked thankfully at his friends, touched. He sniffed, trying not to sob.
"Oh Lucian..." Aaron said, gently pulling his brother into a hug.
"Uh... I guess you can make potion-like teas if you got the time." Arthur said to Phoebe.
"In that case, we should ask the others about it." Nick said to Tenn.
"Oh dear..." James said, cringing at the idea to change colors.
Arena
Later this night, Brave Spear was found as an ice cream parlor, likely influenced by the arena. Dio appeared and tried to help, only for the ghost to go berserk and absorb every ice cream, permanently freezing the arena in the process (at least for the season). The next day, he mindlessly attacked Hazel with magnetic powers, but she used a wooden gun to somehow defeat him.
As he faded away, Brave Spear looked far away in the direction of Eye-Sicle's lair before disappearing, as if he felt Blood Moon's presence within, but it was too late, and he was gone in an instant...

The Museum/The Arena
While waiting for Haze to check if there's better food on the menu, 6k2 checks the Death Battle on her phone but shakes her fist at the Pig Farmer throwing the Cornucopia at Tina.
"Guess she couldn't cast the Shield Charm on time..."
The DM's clone sighs and focuses on Mr. Ping instead, for he was her tribute in Season 107. He scratches his head at the Helpers claiming that their respective uncles work at Nintendo, and then jumps backwards and yelps at a trash can popping out of Private Hudson's mouth. Later that night, Mr. Ping shivers when the Arena permanently freezes over thanks to Brave Spear absorbing too much ice cream. The goose gets blinded by the Jigglypuff's new colors thanks to its Bloodbath curse, so he throws it into the nearest trash can. The next day, Mr. Ping bakes 366 giant birthday rice cakes, one for each day of the year (including February 29) for all the Unused Reserves and tries wheeling them over by himself, but he slips on the ice and splatters the cakes on everyone.
"S-Sorry..." he squeaks.
New Home School, Principal's Office
"So Mom... how's your first day of teaching Kindergarten?" asks 6k1.
"Oh, it was wonderful, my child!" says Toriel. "Some of the little ones were quite a handful, but it was so much fun singing nursery rhymes with them and reading stories to them!"
"Awww! And what else did you teach them?"
"The alphabet and numbers, of course! And I also got taught them shapes!"
"Even the advanced ones?" asks 6k1, recalling that Kris's Toriel taught her pupils those in their school.
The "original" Toriel chuckles. "Yes, even the advanced ones! There's one pupil in my class who's really smart for their age, so they requested me to give them a bonus lesson on them!"
She shows her the flashcards she used for the little geometry lesson: besides the simple 2D and 3D shapes, there are also polygons and polyhedrons, all of them labeled with their complex names.
"Fascinating!" 6k1 nods. "I was just like them when I was their age!"
"You are a bright, young woman after all! And did your teachers accommodate you and your inquisitive mind?"
"Of course, they did! They even sent me to inter-school competitions!"
"And did you win any?"
"Yeah! I mostly placed 2nd or 3rd, but I did get the gold in a few!"
Toriel glances at the empty shelves and imagines them lined with trophies. Maybe someday... she thinks.
"Rarity, are you okay? We gotta get you and your friends outta here soon!"

(Amy is hit with coconuts by Gordon and loses her memory, but Gordon feels regretful and restores it)

The Arena
That night, Mr. Ping sets up his camp, which closely resembles his noodle shop back home, and he sits near the oven to warm himself up. He then bundles up and goes out to look for noodle ingredients, then stumbles upon a computer. He curiously taps on the keyboard and goes online, and finds a chatroom congratulating each other for their toxic traits. He looks at its member list, where Amy's username and avatar are included, but he feels uneasy about the group chat.
W-What's going on here? - noodlegoose, he types before logging off.
The next day, Mr. Ping crafts himself a "darnit doll" and watches a kung-fu tournament with it, but he repeatedly shouts "darnit!" and whacks the doll against the table when his team loses.

Pink?! (Henry exclaims.) ...Well, perhaps, but I believe my point still stands.
(Tenn chuckles before getting up and going over to the other table.)
Hey, guys, we were thinking of heading over to the dojo after this. What do you guys think? (She asks them.)

"Don't worry. You can sit back and watch if you want to. I think we first have to see what we can do in that Dojo." he said.

The Pokémons then entered the Dojo.
"Hey... Almost looks like a party's going on here." Alex remarked, looking at the big disco ball at the center.

I have a whole bunch of snacks in the fridge, and maybe I can boil up some hot dogs, too! I'm not the best chef around, but I can make do… hopefully, at least! Haze said, grabbing a packet of hot dogs out of the fridge Sorry you don't want the chili… and you're lucky Hell's Chef is napping on the couch right now, as he doesn't like people turning his meals down. He chuckled nervously Changing the subject a little, how's the Death Battle doing? I haven't checked up on it, but I hope you find it amusing!

"That was a pretty quick one..." says 6k2 once the season ends. "I was worried that Mr. Ping might enter a Hall of Fame loop if he became a Podium Finisher, but at least it was nice of him to paint the Arena rainbow for Pride Month."
She then gets the text from her robot assistant that Haru and Erika have been data cloned for next season.
"That being said, Ally nominated my tributes for me to continue the celebration. And in case you missed it last S269..." she raises her hands in front of Haze to show her black and white rings, "I came out as a-spec yesterday. Long story. But anyway, let's see what you have in your fridge!"
Castle Town
"Thank you for your patronage," says Swatch as his guests leave, "may you enjoy the rest of the day."
The Swatchling also nods goodbye to them and pockets the tips.
Jigsaw Joe, Clover, a Werewerewire, and a Bloxer are busting a move in the Party Dojo when the Pokémon enter it.
"Welcome to the Party Dojo!" says Joe. "Here, you can train with me in various challenges! If you have any questions, feel free to ask Battle's Master at the counter!"

(Nina fills Jake in on what's going on at Cat's.)
Uh, yo, Gramps might be better at trying to translate that stuff than I am. (Jake says.) You wanna pull him in? It's been quiet enough around our place.
You got it! (Nina says.)
(Nina brings in Jake's grandfather...whose wise-looking appearance is heavily contrasted by the disco music he is listening to on a music player. Once he realizes what's going on, he turns the music off and whirls around.)
Wha-...oh, Jake! There you are. You didn't say that you would be leaving again. (He says.)
I told Fu Dog to tell you, yo. (Jake says.)
(Gramps notices Magnus and Conan.) So you must be some of the other dragons my grandson has talked so much about. (He says.)
That we are! (Conan says.) Pleasure to make your acquaintance, sir!
Yeah! So...can you become a dragon like your grandkid, little guy? (Magnus asks.)
(A mischievous glint appears in the old man's eye.) Little, am I? (Gramps immediately changes into his blue, serpentine dragon form.)
(Magnus bursts out laughing.) Heh heh, I stand corrected!

(Everyone takes in the Dojo.)
...This is a Dojo? (July asks, having expected something more akin to the dojos they have in her own universe.)
Heh heh, I can get behind this. (Lyric chuckles, almost feeling like dancing again.)
Yeah, this dojo's neat! (June chirps.)
(Oscar spots a place for he and Lucian to sit and leads Lucian that direction.)
Challenges, you say? (Henry asks.)

Bale's group confronted Rouki's own group in an all-out battle. Each group of members took on a separate one as Rouki's fighters came in, while Bucrates attempted to get his student away. Villamax and Noir were taking on the Gems with all their might.
Villamax: We should not fight like this. We have common enemies to thwart.
Amethyst: Well our friend wants her own friend back, so how about we settle down and solve that issue by undoing whatever happened to him.
Bucrates: Not a chance, you won't understand the importance of Rouki in stopping Dark Bale.
Bale: Spare me the spiel, you aren't trustworthy at all!
Just then Rouki broke free and tackled Bale before trying to impale him again, this time Bale just transformed into Darrgon quickly and let the sword fail to harm his stronger body before kicking him away.
Darrgon: Tryin that again.
Bucrates: Fascinating, transforming in an instant, that's an efficient way to use that power.
Soon enough an angered Rouki went straight for Lucina, this time aiming to truly take her down.
Rouki: This will end it here.
With a kick he knocked her into the ground but she got up and though tried to fight effectively couldn't bring herself to truly do it, leading to Rouki continuing to relentlessly attacked, forcing her on the defensive to avoid being cut down.
Lucina: Stop, Meta, don't make me hurt you.
Regretfully she took action as she stopped being defensive and harmed him by slashing at his chest with her sword, making him back a bit before looking at the injury in fury; with nothing but rage at being harmed coursing through his mind he intensified his assault, hitting with much more strength than before and almost roaring in anger at his opponent, overwhelming Lucina and disarming her.
Rouki: No one harms me like that and gets away with it!
He then took his chance as she was vulnerable, however he stopped before he delivered the finishing blow, clenched his sword with subdued fury and feeling he was forced to do this against his will, decided to pull off a swift retreat, before his headaches came back.
Rouki: Perhaps not... Let's leave this place, everyone.
With him gone, the rest also retreated warping back to base. Frustrated at their escape, Bale opted to just return to base for everyone to recover as the fight had taken a lot of energy out of everyone.

Pythor saluted his allies back and began his preparations.
Pythor: So what are we gonna do here, friends?

"It's certainly strange... I didn't expect a dancefloor to serve as a dojo." Tokage said to July.
"Will you guys be alright?" Lucian asked.
"Don't worry. Go rest with Oscar. Feel free to join us if you think you can take one of those challenges." Aaron kindly said. Lucian nodded before following Oscar to a quieter spot. He sat down and leaned against his friend, watching the others.
"Challenges? Interesting..." James pondered. Arthur simply rolled his eyes at the Inteleon and Henry, having expected their reactions.
"Sounds fun. Are you girls in?" Nick asked Tenn and the Shels.
"Well I ain't against some challenges. Especially if I got to be with Auggy here." Alex said, bumping his fists together.
"I can stay with you if you want to participate." Tokage said to July with a reassuring nod.
"I think I'm game too. June?" Aaron asked, holding his girlfriend's hand as everyone went over to the counter where Battle's Master was.
"Greetings, good sir! I and my companions are willing to try some of your challenges. What are you suggesting?" James asked.
