Welcome to HGS: Another Side Another Story. It is a roleplay spinoff for the Hunger Games Simulator forum game, akin to both the RP's in the Roleplaying section as well as the ITTs in Forum Games. It tells the story of the Hunger Games in the Arena of Panem, the nominators who sent the tributes, the tributes themselves both in and out of the Arena or even other people relevant to the Games. In addition, it also tells their stories beyond the Arena.
You can jump right in with any character, like your nominator self, your tributes, etc. The structure of this RP will be open-world. Don't worry about not being skilled/experienced enough or being new to RP'ing. Finally, ASAS accepts any skill level or RP style. Other than these, there are some important rules to note, which are:
- No godmodding will be allowed or tolerated here. The offending player will be given punishment depending on the severity.
- Please communicate anything important you plan on another player with the said player first. Don't just execute it without their consent.
- Don't be rude to other players, both out and in-universe. This extends to RP offenses like railroading, guilt-tripping, coercing, or other forms of forcing them.
- This RP is related to the Hunger Games Simulation:Beyond the Possibilities forum game. Thus it will have events based from that game, including the tributes. This means if you want to RP as tributes, please nominate them officially on the thread first, with misses not being counted. This has to be done after an incident with a player who hasn't joined the game itself yet.
- Since this RP is Loose Canon in relation to the main HGS thread, the host's interpretation of events isn't necessarily 100% canon. Every player has the right to deviate from what the host says and go with their own interpretations. If multiple players have their tributes involved in the same event(s), please communicate with each other so that you're on the same page regarding how you see them.
- This RP chronicles the lives of the nominators and their tributes behind the scenes. While dark plots are acceptable, the overall tone of the RP should be light-hearted and comedic. This RP is not a Cosmic Horror Story or action story about defeating evil. It is a Slice of Life comedy with some adventure to it, first and foremost. Our previous RP, Convergence, is not representative of the intended tone, and the grimdark tone of that RP is one of the main reasons it was retooled.
- Nominators and tributes alike can transform into Pokemon whenever they enter a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon World (but they can bypass this with certain items/methods or shapeshifting) or via other means outside it such as a season event, Transformation Trinkets, or shapeshifting. The players are free to choose the Pokéforms that best suit their characters and even give them color schemes outside the standard and Shiny colors, but there is a hard rule for this. If you want your character's Pokéform to be a Legendary, Mythical, or Ultra Beast, please ask the RP mods for approval. Outside the Arena, these Pokéforms are still OP, but we want to give leeway for tributes who theoretically can have them such as deities.

Detective Gamechanger's Base
A sharp-dressed man in a green suit and yellow tie is standing by the entrance of the base. He is of average height and has whitish skin, though still a bit darker. He is Billy, one of the nominators and the organizer of the party.
Indeed, after the nominators' returned and settled their problems, they decide to have fun with a party. Billy also sent invites for all the other nominators out there, as well as basically anyone else, including tributes, non associated parties, interested nominators who haven't participate yet, or even those who just wants to hang out.
The place itself in the base is refurbished for party purposes. Fancy chairs and tables are set everywhere for people to relax, as well as put food and other objects for the latter. There's also various collections showcased, including those belonging to the Detective, like his classic cars. Various themes to the base are set too, including detective noir as GC would have preferred.
Billy is now awaiting for other guests to arrive. He is also ready to give them a pleasant surprise during the party pertaining to his nation.

Ooh, Spaghetti Code stuff looks really good…but I wanna try these teas first! Who’s gonna start us off? (August asks.)
(July looks down at her Tokage-flavored tea, still afraid it’ll just taste like a Grovyle. She holds her nose and takes a sip.)
(Much to her shock, it instead tastes like one of the finest teas she’s ever had. It sort of makes her feel like she can do anything without worrying about looking silly in front of everyone, much like what Tokage would tell her.) …Oh my gosh, this tastes great.
Really? (August drinks the Alex-flavored tea. She gets about the same reaction, thinking about all the fun she’s had over the past few weeks and happy she found a kindred spirit in Alex.) Hey, this just tastes like one of the best cups of tea I’ve ever had! How’s you guys’?
(Oscar drinks his Lucian-flavored Tea. He near about falls out of his chair from how good it tasted. It really makes him think about the strong bond the two of them have built ever since this started.) …This…is…amazing!! (He gasps. He looks at Lucian and just gives his friend a hug.)
Y’all are makin’ me look forward t’ tryin’ mine! (June says, immediately sipping the Aaron tea. She immediately gasps and starts making an enormous grin.) I LOVE IT! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!! (She squeals, hugging Aaron as well.) Aaron, it’s soooo good! It makes me feel just soooo glad we know each other!!
(Henry’s Butler Juice is red.) Erm…perhaps I shall let mine cool off a moment. (He says.)
(Shelley looks back and forth between the Tenn and Shelby teas she received.)
Which one are you gonna try first, Shel? (Tenn asks.)
(Shelley decides to try the Tenn Tea first. Drinking it gives her a very calming feeling that makes her think about and value her friendship with Tenn, despite everything.) Oh, Tenn, the You Tea is wonderful…
That’s great, Shel. What about Shelby’s? (Tenn asks.)
(Shelley takes a sip of the Shelby Tea…and immediately gulps it down despite the high temperature.) Refill, please!! (She says at a raised volume.)
Oh! I guess that means it was good! (Shelby says.)
Yes! I mean…yes…it…really made me think about how much I appreciate you… (Shelley says, a bit embarrassed over her strong reaction.)
Oh? That’s great! (Shelby says. She sips her Shelley Tea. A moment after she does so, she makes a brief of pure ecstasy before turning to Shelley.) …Gosh, this IS good! This is the best tea I’ve ever had…I should get some to go.
(Phoebe drinks her Lyric Tea. She makes a calm, serene expression.) Oh, lovely…Lyric, this tea really makes me think about how wonderful of a person you’ve shown yourself to be, despite your difficult life. Goodness, I was worried that I would have no reaction from this.
Well, thank you, Phoebe. Guess that means we’re at least pretty close. (Lyric says. He drinks his Phoebe Tea. The tea really makes him feel like everything is alright and safe.)
This tea, I really like it! Makes me feel glad you were able to help me escape Dark Stanford and become friends with you, Phoebe. (He declares.)
O-Oh! That’s…splendid! (Phoebe says, touched that she and Lyric have a meaningful relationship despite the short time they’ve known each other.)

"Heh. If you insist, we should try the tea first." Alex said to August.
Tokage drank his July-flavored tea around the same time as July to give her more confidence. Judging by his face alone, he seemed pleasantly surprised.
"Same thing. It's been a while since I've drunk something this good." the Grovyle said, smiling at July, thinking about the calm Zoroark keeping up with her siblings, much like he was keeping up with his teammates.
Alex was quick to gulp his tea down and he grinned at August.
"I perfer eating than drinking... But man is that tea good!" he laughed, thinking about all the fun he had with August.
Lucian sipped the Oscar tea and his eyes widened for a moment as he thought about the strong link the duo now shared. He even forgot about Dark Stanford and Raven Beak for a moment.
"Oh!! This is incredible!!" he gasped. He looked at Oscar and gave him a big smile before returning the hug.
Aaron looked at the duo, very happy for them. He then tasted the June tea and also gasped in shock at just how good it was. It reminded him of his first moments with June, when he was all bashful and everything.
"Whoah!!" was all the Lucario was able to say before June hugged him tight. He just laughed as he hugged her back.
"Same thing, June. Oh, this is amazing! Gosh, I'm so happy about all of this..." he said.
"Hey, Tok. Think we should tell them to taste each other's drinks? Like, I'm sure Lulu will love drinking June and Aaron's teas." Alex asked Tokage, pointing at Oscar and Lucian, and Aaron and June hugging each other.
"It's up to them if they still got the stomach for it. But I think they already know that they are very close to one another." Tokage said.
Though Arthur's Butler Juice was also red, the Decidueye had no problem drinking it.
"Heh. Nice drink. Still prefer beer." he said.
"It is certainly a cool drink... But it is quite enjoyable." James said, his Butler Juice being blue, sipping it very slowly.
"Well lucky me. I got a normal one!" Nick giggled before drinking his green tea.
"Hmm. You're right, it tastes good!" the Cinderace said. He also cheered when Shelley wanted to refill her Shelby Tea.

Meanwhile, Henry's Butler Juice turns orange as it begins to cool.

Oh, no, everything's fine, I've just found myself at Nine-Tailed Cat's lab. (Ball replies.) Want me to put you on speaker?
Sure. (Stanford says.)

Greetings, Nine-Tailed Cat. I am Stanford Stokes. (Stanford says.) Erm...I will go ahead and tell you that I normally do not sound like this. Circumstances have forced Eye-Sicle and I to disguise ourselves.

I think we already know that June and Aaron's teas will taste great, but...maybe it wouldn't hurt to try anyway.' (Oscar says.)
Well then, knock yourselves out! (June says, sliding her tea cup over to Oscar and Lucian.)
(Henry notices his Butler Juice changing color.) Ah, it really DOES change color! (Henry says.)
That's pretty neat. (Tenn says as she sips her Cheri tea.)
(Henry sips it. It is still quite hot, but Henry manages to power through it.) Goodness it was...still quite hot! But quite good...
Was wondering if you shoulda let it sit a minute longer, you hopeless idiot. (Tenn laughs.) You okay?
Ah, of course I am, Tenn! I am just...quite warmed up now. (Henry laughs.)
(Shelley attempts to control herself better as she sips her new cup of Shelby-flavored tea, with Shelby looking on at Shelley in mild concern.)
(Luckily, Shelley holds herself together better, despite the tea still making her feel like she could just shoot up into the sky like a firework.) Oh, this is simply glorious...
Indeed! Who knew such an odd concept for a tea would work so well? (Phoebe agrees. She's still happy her cup of tea has indicated that she has a meaningful relationship with at least one of the people at the tables here.)

"Y-Yeah... We could try if you want to." Lucian shyly said. Aaron smiled at the duo and gave them his teacup without hesitation. Smiling back, Lucian gave his cup to him and June.
The Lycanroc sipped June and Aaron's teas, and from the look on his face alone, it was clear that he greatly enjoyed them. He was reminded of the many years he spent with Aaron, his big brother, as well as the time he spent around June and her cheerful personality too.
Aaron sipped Lucian's tea as well and let out a sigh as he leaned back against his seat, also reminded of his time with the Lycanroc. If Oscar allowed him to taste his tea as well, Aaron also got reminded of how much he trusted the Thievul.
"They're wonderful too... Gosh, I'm so thankful you are with us." Lucian said.
"Oh, any time, Lucian. I told you, we're family at this point." Aaron chuckled. Lucian smiled and hugged June and Aaron with a dog whimper-like noise.
"And here they go again." Alex giggled. Tokage simply smiled at the four canine Pokémons.
"Guess those teas are good enough that you're willing to drink them no matter if they're cold or hot." Nick chuckled at Henry and Shelley.
"That is indeed quite fascinating. Hopefully, we will be able to import those to our own worlds." James agreed with Phoebe.

The Fourth-Placers' Revenge
The Arena, Season 281
On the third night, the cat rookie found out that all the foxes in the world had died. She dropped to her knees, letting out a constant stream of quick, high-pitched sobs which Gabriel mistook for laughter. Meanwhile, her wolf counterpart went to a coffee shop and ordered a glass of milk, being unable to handle the bitterness of actual coffee. Julie d'Aubigny saw this and called him a "momma's boy", to his embarrassment.
The fourth day was the cat rookie's last, as she was captured by Vivian along with Yamazaki and Melodii. To show she meant business, she cut the poor pink cat's throat. The wolf rookie, on the other hand, had a pleasant time introducing Todd to Sonic Forces, which proved more of a hit than would be expected.
On the fourth night, the wolf rookie was forced to cross a frozen-over lake. Though the ice was thin, he was able to reinforce it with his ice blade to support his weight. Unfortunately, come the morning, Amanda Murphy decided that he had failed her for the last time. The red wolf soon turned blue as Amanda Force-choked the life out of him.

Nine-Tailed Cat waited as Miss Ball called up Stanford, then spoke up.
"Greetings, Stanford," he said. "It's a pleasure to meet you, even under these less-than-ideal circumstances." He stroked his beard thoughtfully. "It sounds like the situation's escalating quickly. I'm reconsidering my choice not to get involved - if there's anything I can do to tip the balance, I should, and I do have some options at my disposal."
I like cute things. You gotta deal with it.

Thank you for offering your help. (Stanford says.) This is a strenuous situation, so we can use all the help we can get.
Yeah! (Ball says.) By the way, Stan, Cat here uses a lot of clones of his tributes that he said he could use to help. We were thinking we could do the same thing for some of ours?
That isn’t a bad idea, but the clones created through my cloning remote are still fairly fragile. (Stanford says.) I might need to make adjustments to it so the clones it creates don’t simply explode into confetti upon being injured as they would in the Arena…though on the other hand, June’s clones no longer seem like they would do so if they were attacked, which is curious to me, but I would rather not use them and just leave them to their funhouse.
My stupid clone didn’t either when Scipion and I paid him a visit! (Eye-Sicle says, walking over.)
…Sir, when did you do that? (Stanford asks.)
…Few days ago. (Eye-Sicle snorts.) Who the blazes are you talking to about clones, anyway?
I am talking to Miss Ball and the nominator named Nine-Tailed Cat. (Stanford explains.)
Yeah? Well, hey there, Cat. Pleasure to meet ya. (Eye-Sicle says.)

(Oscar tries both the June and Aaron Teas as well, and has essentially the same reaction to them as Lucian. He sighs and smiles.)
Mmm, we sure are! (June says after sampling the Oscar and Lucian Teas and appreciating the friendship all four of them share. She hugs Oscar and Lucian tight as they come over to her and Aaron.) Oh, I love you guys so muuuuch! (She says, her voice going higher in pitch with each word.)
Uh huh, they’re just like peas in a pod, aren’t they? (August chuckles.)
Yeah…I’m glad June has found such good friends. (July says.)
Uh huh! Glad we did, too, huh, Alex? (August says, playfully nudging the Charmeleon.)
Heh heh, indeed! It was quite hot, but still wonderful. (Henry nods.)

Oh, yes, indeed! Things like this would help tremendously in our world, I feel. (Phoebe says, drinking the last of her Lyric Tea.)

"I dunno. Not a big fan of using drinks to discover people's relationships." Arthur said with a shrug.
"Heh, as long as it's just for funsies." Nick giggled.

Eh, I saw it more as a way to remind you of how close you already are to your friends. (Lyric says. He looks over at the other table where June and the others are. He smiles.) I’m sure most of us in here right now don’t need a magic cup of tea to tell us that. I figured it was just all in good fun myself.

"Why, thanks. I'm happy I can help you out." the Grovyle said.
"Sounds like we're really friends at this point. You guys think we're gonna end up like them?" Alex asked, ponting at Aaron and June. Tokage blushed a bit at the suggestion.
"Well I know Aaron and the others would certainly be delighted... But July's just a friend for now." the Grovyle said.
"Same thing with Auggy for me. But who knows?" Alex teased.
"Oh you are absolutely right." James said to Lyric.
"You must be happy seeing your daughters finding new friends... And even a boyfriend for one of them." Nick added.
"All the more reason to help them against Dark Stan and Raven Beak." Arthur said.

(August laughs again, though unlike at Porky’s a while back, she does sound like she’s less in disbelief at the idea.) Aw, Alex, you’re such a sweet guy, but I’m fine just being your friend right now, too. Buuuuuut, hey, maybe one day if things work out, huh?
(August looks at the SpaghettiCode and licks her chops.) Now, hey, we haven’t even tried this Spaghetti Code stuff yet. Let’s eat!
Hear hear. (Lyric nods. Seeing his three daughters so happy makes him all the more determined to stop Dark Stanford and Raven Beak.) Seeing how well the three of them turned out despite me not being there makes me happier than you could imagine.

"You're damn right! Let's eat!" the Charmeleon exclaimed, grabbing the food and starting to eat it. Tokage simply shrugged at July, a bit amused, before trying to taste a small pice of it.
"Oh yes. I suppose there is no greater joy as a father to see your children turning out well." James said to Lyric.

Aaron and Lucian also looked over to the others.
"That's quite big... You guys think you'll be able to finish it?" he asked.
"Aaron, you know I'm not eating half of that. Alex and August will likely take care of that better than me." Tokage said.
"You're welcome to taste it if you want to!" Alex said to Aaron and co.

6k2 spends the rest of the morning watching the last season with Haze. Unlike CAC, she just crosses her arms at the usual appearance of MGTs, and as weird as it is for her to admit it, she's glad that the Earth Prime foxes were data cloned, otherwise their mass extinction would've caused an ecological disaster. On the other hand, her wish for the Gem fusions doesn't come true, but at least she still has one Mass Murderer for this season's Death Battle.
After getting the call from Ally that Tina has been data cloned, 6k2 asks Haze, "So what's for lunch? I packed my own, but what can your new kitchen staff cook up?"
The Underground
After spending the morning exploring New Home, 6k1's phone alarm goes off.
"Alright, time to meet with Mom!"
She returns to the school and reminds the guard of her visit, and they let her inside the building. She follows the signs to faculty room and passes by the cafeteria on the way, and she peeks into it and waves to Frisk and Asriel at their table. Asriel smiles and waves back at her while Frisk just nods and continues eating.
6k1 then makes her way to the faculty room and knocks on the door. The secretary gets it and lets her in.
"Good noon, visitor. How may we assist you?"
"I'm TRP-6001, Database Manager and Head Librarian of the Database Library. Is Ms. Toriel available right now?"
"Yes, she is having her lunch in the Principal's Office over there."
The secretary points 6k1 to a closed room at the corner nearest the two of them, which has golden walls and a royal purple door with the Delta Rune at its front. Below it is a golden plaque with Toriel's name on it.
"You are her daughter, is that right?"
"Yes, I'm just here to visit her since I wasn't able to attend the grand opening yesterday."
"Alright, I suppose I will allow that for now." The secretary checks the wall clock. "She has to go back to work in an hour, so try to make your visit as productive as possible."
6k1 nods. "Thank you very much."
The DM then knocks on the office door, and a familiar voice from inside tells her to come in.
"Rarity, are you okay? We gotta get you and your friends outta here soon!"

"That makes sense," said Nine-Tailed Cat. "There's always a trade-off between speed, quality, and cost - if you want something done quickly, it'll be expensive, shoddy, or both. Well, your clones could still make good distractions at the least."
He smiled at hearing Eye-Sicle's voice. "Pleasure to meet you too," he said. "Hopefully we can get this current crisis resolved soon and focus more on nominating."
At this point, Cassandra Beech came back pushing a cart laden with crates. "Hi, boss! Hi, Miss Ball!"
"Ah, good, my assistant's back," he said. He turned to the fennec. "What have you found, Cassandra?"
"Lots of things, boss!" Cassandra said, wagging her tail. "I got parts for Majel's new battle chassis, plus some interesting extrusive rock specimens you might want a look at!"
She opened up one of the crates to reveal a set of basalt tablets carved with strange glyphs that glowed with an ominous red light.
"Fascinating," said Nine-Tailed Cat. "That's not a language I recognise, and that phosphorescence doesn't look natural either. Perhaps one of our tributes would know more." He then turned his attention back to the call. "We may have had a breakthrough here, but I'll need some time to figure out what exactly it is. Until then, I hope you're staying safe."

(Dinah leaves the VR chamber still cautiously feeling herself over to make sure she isn't going to fall in half.) Please send me back home. (She asks Nina. The experience really put a bit of a damper on her curiosity about other universes.)
No prob! I'll send the dinos back, too. (Nina says. She does so.)
...Welp, nothing for the Death Battle. Guess I'll just chill for a while. (Nina says, resting against the control panel.)

"This?" said Cassandra, indicating the slab. "Not sure! I mean, it's basalt - the most common volcanic rock in the world, produced by rapid cooling of magnesium- and iron-rich lava on the surface - but the carvings are a few million years too new to be in my usual jurisdiction! But I have some guesses!"
She held up one of the tablets for a better look, showing what looked like geometrical diagrams among the symbols.
"See this?" she said. "This looks like some kind of instructions! Could be a blueprint for a weapon, an advanced mathematical proof, or the recipe for the most delicious cookies ever! Who knows?"
Nine-Tailed Cat rolled his eyes. "You don't read much fantasy, do you, Cassandra," he said. "I mean, tablets carved with indecipherable glowing runes? Obviously it's some form of arcane ritual. Get a Saurian Augur clone ready; he should know this sort of thing better."
"You got it, boss!" Cassandra saluted and went to prepare the cloning chambers.
While she was busy, Nine-Tailed Cat turned back to Miss Ball. "Do you have any experience with magical matters?" he asked. "It's not my usual area of expertise, but if you can help, or know someone who could, that would be much appreciated."

"To be fair, you returned to nominating sometime towards the end of the qualifying period for the Death Battle," says 6k2, "but some nominators do get HOFers in their first few seasons since returning, kinda like 'beginner's luck'!"
She then pauses for a moment to recap last season in her mind, and she just remembered that Julie ended up killing Lt. Surge after Topaz's death.
Not sure what Topaz would think of this..., 6k2 thinks, but at least she and the Rubies are alright after their VR sessions...
"But anyway," she tells Haze, "the soup seems alright, but... do you have anything else on the menu?"
She recalls that the chili soup is made from the freshly killed corpse of Cyrax (or technically, the original one and not its data clone), and it just reminds her of why cannibalism is banned in the Troper Games.
New Home School, Principal's Office
6k1 smiles as she enters Toriel's office. Besides filing cabinets on one side, the walls, which are also golden inside, are adorned with diplomas and certificates Toriel got while she was taking up Education in college. Another side is lined with two empty shelves, which will be filled with trophies once the school sends its best students to competitions, both local and Multiversal. In front of 6k1 is her mother, who's sitting at her desk on a thronelike swivel chair and eating a slice of pie. Folders full of lesson plans are on one side of the table, while her computer is on the other side and turned on.
Toriel beams at 6k1 and adjusts her reading glasses as the latter approaches her desk.
"Greetings, my child! What brings you here today? Is there anything important you need to tell me?"
"I just wanted to visit you today to make up for missing the grand opening yesterday!"
"Is that so?" Toriel puts aside her pie. "Then be my guest! I have just finished printing out these lesson plans for the whole semester, so I think I can spare some time to bond with you today!"
"Rarity, are you okay? We gotta get you and your friends outta here soon!"

"You're right. It's weird but good." Aaron said to Oscar before turning to Lucian.
"Yeah... It's fine." the Lycanroc agreed.

That night, the Giant Ruby somehow gets her face erased by the Nerd Emoji, so they doodle her face back on with a marker. Luckily, they didn't rub too hard on Eyeball's gemstone, otherwise, that side of the fusion would've gone berserk from its cracks. Meanwhile, the Topaz Fusion closes her eyes as she plays a sad song for V2 on the world's smallest violin.
The next day, the Ruby Fusion and Mysterio find a giant jam jar and jump into it, but it suddenly closes and traps them inside.
"AHHHHHH! HELP SOMEBODY GET US OUTTA HERE!!!" screams the Giant Ruby as she pounds against the jar's walls with her fists, but she forgets that she doesn't need to breathe, and clutches her neck tight.
POOF!
All the five Ruby gemstones fall into the jam and are unable to reform into the Ruby Squad, even if they're taken out of the jar.
Meanwhile, Topaz finds a laptop, touches its screen, and nods to conclude that it's not hot, and then confronts Julie for torturing Lt. Surge. Even if Topaz only met him in the Bloodbath, she considers him as her friend since he's tough like her. However, Topaz thinks that he deserves the torture because she believes that he can take the hit, and she gives Julie a thumbs-up for it, to Surge's frustration.
The next day, Topaz suddenly gets sucked into a black hole along with Rottytops and Bowie by the pixellated Chloe. The fusion tries running away from it, but as she gets stretched like spaghetti, Chloe summons clones/AU versions of herself to blast Topaz right in her ear gemstones.
Color Café
"We appreciate the compliments," says Swatch. "The Prince helped improve our recipes when our Queen made him her butler for a day."
"Thank you for your orders," says the Swatchling, "now please allow us to escort you to your tables."
They give Swatch the guests' orders and leads them to their seats, and they push the tables near each other. Later on, the server gives them their meals. As they pour the Butler Juice in fancy glasses, they warn the guests that the warm-colored drinks are spicy hot, the cool-colored drinks are ice cold, but the green drinks are at the perfect temperature. They then place the SpaghettiCode at the center of the tables, which is made of maracons and ribbons, and also pour the Berry Tea and the Own-Flavored Tea.
"Bon appétit." The Swatchling nods to the guests.
