Despite my country being tolerant to the LGBT people, my country still has a long way to go for the full acceptance of them. There's a law proposed for the anti-discrimination of LGBT, but the problem is it's, at least for me, only specified for them, and might conflict with the other preexisting laws for the protection of women and children and for the indigenous peoples.

Some lawmakers have proposed a general anti-discrimination law that includes race, religion, gender, and sexuality.

Luckily, we Americans have taken action towards inclusion and anti-discrimination, though our government's been slow to act. That's one good feature of American democracy.

What country do you live in?

Well, the slow-acting government is certainly not a good feature. Not to mention our current president has been taking steps to reverse a lot of these actions

I know this is like, bad form, probably, but topic is back to ocs again.

All five posts up there seem to specifically be about ocs in fanfiction, but that's not the only context original characters exist in. A lot of people work on their own completely original works independent of any fandom, populated entirely by original characters, and those can be pretty cool. I mean, like anything it's hit or miss, but, yeah.

Moreover, even in fanfiction it isn't all bad. Sure, when ocs try to interact with canon characters it can definitely feel awkward and forced, and like a thinly-veiled self-insert fantasy. But, if the world allows it, it's also entirely possible to create a story using entirely original characters. Sure, the audience for that is certainly a little more niche, but it can be a good way to create thrilling stories in your favorite universe, without the need for it to feel wrong or out of place by muddying it up with the blending of canon and original content. Of course, the issue of thinly-veiled self-insert fantasies can also be prevalent here, but I think it can make for an interesting read if done right.

And lastly, a lot of fandoms have the making of ocs as a pivotal part of the community, and I think that's pretty neat. It's just another way to engage with the fandom, and it can be really fun. I'm sure you wouldn't think of Troper 9001 having fun with her ponysona as being particularly cringey (unless you would i guess idk your life). She's just having fun with it and not really doing anything particularly egregious or annoying.

Plus if it weren't for ocs we wouldn't have this masterpiece.◊ Even the bad ones can be good.

If we're being technical, every character ever is somebody's OC, so, yeah.

The KH original cast is fucking expertly crafted though, you take that back.

...so, would characters you made for RPs also fit the OC umbrella? Because if they don't, I'll need to come up with a new acronym for that section on my page...

Oh well, I don't care for Dark Souls. Everyone rails on how hard and excrutiating it is but people overhyped the shit out of it and I find it overrated. One of the biggest cases of Hype Aversion in my life, which is also reserved for The Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 recently.

It has good but I just don't care. I doubt it's anywhere near as people say, and guess what? I can watch thousands upon thousands of DS videos so I can come in anticipating it all. But I won't.
