If Music Tropes contains other IUEO tropes, then I'm fine with it staying. Otherwise, it might be best to remove it.

So: Comedy Tropes, Annoyance Tropes, Music Tropes (commonly but not always music), Repeat Index Index. Any others?

I think there may have been a misunderstanding; I didn't say Ear Worm should be on Music Tropes, I said it should be removed. It's a trope that's about music, but not one that's specifically associated with works in the medium of music.

I think we should bring back the RL examples, but don't use the old version. Make a fresh new list.

How come?

The trope is not NRLEP, so here's something to consider:

If we do decide on bringing in RL examples, they must have some sort of notable impact. If it's just some artist's song getting stuck in some average person's head, it's not worth noting.

If we bring them all back, you get why we had to move the trope out of YMMV in the first place. The ZCE entries will resurface.

In addition to the third paragraph of this post, as I said on Ask The Tropers recently, it's significantly easier to provide context for in-universe examples, because it's a matter of saying a character got a song stuck in their head.

On Most Annoying Sound, in its description of what qualifies for that trope, one of the options is:

• Ear Worm — The sound is stuck in your head, and now even turning volume off doesn't help.

This seems more like player perception than an In-Universe example.

Yeah. Plus Most Annoying Sound is YMMV and Ear Worm is not. It'll attract wicks to Ear Worm.

I could've sworn there was a page between Joji and Star Trek that was In-Universe use of Ear Worm, but now it's gone. If I'm correct and someone else is down here removing wicks, do look out for in-universe examples and ignore them.

That was from October 2018, before this thread started. It was split from a slashed-together trope duo.

I know. Hence the grin. I'd rather delete all tropes in the slash but one. Saves trouble and repetition.

Ear Worm isn't a YMMV trope, so cut that? Or are we actually letting some uses of it in YMMV stay for some reason?

Yeah, I didn't have the most comprehensive edit reason, but part of rapidly doing Wick Namespace Migration is leaning on the browser's auto-fill feature to fill it out for me.
