Roleplay Namespace Cleanup and Maintenance

~HimetheSpuddy2: Is Super Cynaiya RPG a let's play that anyone can watch, or was it exclusively hosted on a private Discord server? If it isn't available to the general public, it can't have a page on the main wiki.

Hi there. Super Cynaiya RPG currently has a supercut in the works so anyone can watch. Please don't ask me anymore questions about this.

Based on that response, it seems Super Cynaiya RPG is troping a private/unverifiable which makes it something we wouldn't have a works page for. It may have an associated future release, but at this time, the public also cannot trope that. The page content can be placed in a sandbox or personal storage for safekeeping.

They consider us politely informing them as yelling?

Super Cynaiya RPG should definitely be cut.

I'm going to ask this again. Is there anything that can be done about pages like Roleplay.Fading Masquerade that technically aren't stubs that can be immediately cut, but are obviously abandoned and were brought up here with no resolution? Nobody is going to go back and fix all the zero-context examples on Roleplay.The Hetalia RP, for example, since the two people who made the page both abandoned this site in 2012, and the link on the page gives a 404 error, so most likely, it's dead and gone and nobody cares about it anymore.

A new addition: Roleplay.Sengoku Horizon is a stub without a single trope; its character sheet is the same.

I detest those pages. My vote is to cut them because they are incomplete and technically their creators broke our ZCE rule. I know many pages break them as well, but with actually published/released works, there is a chance someone will fix them or at least comment them out.

Fanfics (pages that are created by their authors) and roleplays are usually have zero chance that someone will fix them.

So I vote we cut abandoned pages with issues. The wiki won't lose much. I believe we may even gain something: It can be the precedent for removing pages of poor quality.

I mean, as long as the pages are genuinely stubs then I'm happy to cut them regardless of what sort of work they're for.

I wasn't talking about pages that are actual stubs. I'm talking about unverifiable works. The two pages I linked above are, respectively, a tabletop campaign unknown to anyone aside from its participants and that presumably wasn't recorded and a DeviantArt RP that doesn't exist anymore. The former was even brought up here, and the person who made the page responded to our ping, but they never said if the RP is verifiable or not.

Basically, I want to know if we can do anything about pages that are for almost certainly unverifiable works, but we will never truly know for sure if they're unverifiable, as the only people who know left the site many years ago. There's also the issue of fixing the pages: can the problems with these pages be fixed when nobody here participated in the roleplays in question and the people who did aren't around anymore?

Those we can just kick to Darth. There's not any real reason to cut them because, of course, we can't know if they're verifiable or not. So we just shove them in the corner and forget about them. It helps that the pages are very rarely crosswicked, so usually it's just as easy as copy, pasting, and cutting.

Reposting from ATT: Not only is TabletopGame.Legends Of Lorn in the wrong namespace (Published TTRPG campaigns don't get the tabletop namespace) I'm not sure it's published. it has a Darthwiki page, and the main work page has no link to where it can be read if it's published for public consumption. What should we do?

I have a question for this thread. Once someone posts about an unverifiable roleplay page and pings the editors of said page, what would be a reasonable timeframe to wait before moving the page to Unpublished Works? A week? Two weeks? We want to give people the chance to prove that these pages don't belong there, but we also don't want the thread to stall out waiting for responses.

There's actually a long list of pages on the sandbox waiting the word of creators who never came back. We probably shouldn't keep them on hold that long but back when this project was active, we were going through so many works so quickly that letting individual ones linger wasn't the end of the world.

Yeah, that's the problem here. I suspect that most people don't really care about this project anymore. I'm willing to unpublish pages and continue the project by myself, but I'm only one person, and I don't want to bring up 10 pages at a time, both because I don't have the time for that and because I don't want the pages to be lost in the shuffle or buried in a Wall of Text post. (And also, isn't there a limit to the number of people you can ping at once?)

So, you're saying that if I want to unpublish roleplay pages, I should go through the sandbox before I bring up new pages here? Because I also have a list of roleplay pages that need action taken on my personal sandbox that I uncovered when I was dewicking Bi The Way.

I'm more than happy to get back into this project. I'm not sure if the others still have motivation, but Whizzerd helps out when I need to ping them over so at least there's that

Okay, let's go through the list of seemingly unavailable roleplays. First off, it looks like Roleplay.Abnormal Apartments was cut for being abandoned and having a dead link, so it should be moved to the cut pages folder.

Next, we have Roleplay.Active Duty, which "was the official roleplay for the (SCP Foundation)". No idea why SCP Foundation isn't linked there, or why it's in parentheses. The page's editors include ~Dexanote, ~YoungCrow, ~flamedarkfire, ~DrErdrich, ~EchoFourDelta, ~CondorTalon, ~Tox, ~Firebeard, ~rangerofpso, ~MisterFlames, and ~SophosBlitz. Are any of you able to provide a link to the RP, or should this be moved to Unpublished Works for being unverifiable?

(Of all of those people, I'm only expecting responses from CondorTalon, flamedarkfire, and Tox, as they're the only three who have edited pages this year; everyone else either left the site in 2012 or doesn't have any edits at all on their history page.)

Additionally, in 2014, ~Rogay updated the description because it "has been defunct for quite some time now". Do you know that because you were a participant in the RP, or were you guessing that from how the page had been abandoned for 3 years by that point? If you were a participant, then your input on the matter would also be appreciated.

I made the grievous error of getting into Final Fantasy XIV and, as a result, approximately all of my responsibilities have fallen to the wayside. I do still have interest in this project, and I'm always around to help with a search if need be, just don't have the wherewithal right now to be scrubbing through pages.

Anyway, I've previously offered my own opinions on the Unavailable folder. That was a while back but I think my opinions are generally the same now.

This doesn't need to be a project as big and as rushed as it was before; we can each do what we can in our own time.

Ok, I've moved, cutlisted, and mostly dewicked it. The entry on Play-by-Post Games confirmed that it was mostly done via IRC, another one of those impossible-to-archive formats, so even if anyone responds to my above post, I doubt they'll have an archive link.

What should I do with the link on After Action? It says it's a spin-off of Active Duty.

Hmmm...good question.

Just change it to Active Duty, no wick, is what I'd do.
