This is a thread for checking up on pages for works that have not been released yet, to make sure that they are not straying into rampant speculation or posting crazy behind the scenes spoilers. You can bring both individual examples or entire pages to attention here.
In extreme cases, any page can be locked, but hopefully that won't be necessary.
(As these pages often are hit with zero-context examples and shoehorning as well, all four - speculation, spoilers, ZCEs, and shoehorning may get addressed simultaneously.)
The policy governing this effort is Creating A Work Page For An Unreleased Work. Cleanup is being tracked using the Unreleased Works sandbox.
All pages for unreleased works should include a %% comment at the top of the page, confirming the policy and linking to this thread and the Administrivia page. It doesn't have to be exactly the same as the example provided here, but this provides a template to work with.
%% Speculative troping is not allowed on TV Tropes.
%%
%% We trope what DOES happen in works, not what MIGHT happen or is LIKELY to happen.
%%
%% For unreleased works where all we have to go on is advertising and other supplemental materials, we have some detailed guidelines, which can be found at Administrivia/CreatingAWorkPageForAnUnreleasedWork.
%%
%% NOTE - these rules also mean that unreleased works should only have one page image, and that image should NOT be changed again until the work is released.
%%
%% If you have questions, please consult the Unreleased Work Speculation Cleanup thread at https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15514631230A64268600
%%
%% Thank you.

Good news about Coyote Vs. ACME: Warner Bros. reversed their decision of cancelling the film despite already being completed and would be shopping it to a different studio. We don't know for sure about the new studio, but its safe to say the film is no longer at The Shelf of Movie Languishment!
"The name's Uzume Tennouboshi! Yeah, it's pretty badass, I know." - Uzume, Megadimension Neptunia VIII am aware. My soul has already healed somewhat and I made a draft page.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Updated the pinned post to repeat the %% comment template for unreleased works, which was previously only accessible when editing the sandbox. Making it more visible seems like a good idea.
Long term, we should probably try to add it to the Administrivia page so it's part of the core policy - but that might take a while to agree.
I think it started here, then other events derailed it a bit.
My personal preference (mod hat off) would be to brainstorm it a bit here, come up with an approach that seems workable (possibly with a sandbox draft), and then take that to the Administrivia thread as a proposal.
Folk on this thread are more likely to have views on the detail, but I think the Administrivia thread is the right place to finalise it.
Double post as, apparently, there's a content leak for the third and final Doctor Who special this year.
Something to keep an eye on.
Accidental releases would also make a good exception to the releases.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupAccidental releases, if acknowledged as such, can't be troped because of our leak policy.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. And I'm bringing it up because I don't see that on Creating a Work Page for an Upcoming Work and a few posts above we've talked that it could use a paragraph about what doesn't count as a release.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupWhat is the policy for Foregone Conclusion entires on upcoming prequels like Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga?

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. The page should include at least an extra warning that it's a prequel if it's something sensitive.
Also that's not a very good example. Is Furiosa's fate ever ambiguous in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga? And recapping the other movie is unnecessary for it. Otherwise it would apply to every prequel.

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI added a warning at the top of the page. Should I cut the trope outright or just blank it out?
Also, looks like someone jumped the gun and did a Fallout (2024) page before the show came out. But the trailer is about to come out so we can make adjustments.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. There's a new show called Sasha and Milo that will be premiering on April Fools' Day 2024. However, according to IMDb, the show was (apparently) already released on October 2023 in South Korea, but every other source links to the former date, so is it a case of Short Run in Peru or IMDb being unreliable again?
"The name's Uzume Tennouboshi! Yeah, it's pretty badass, I know." - Uzume, Megadimension Neptunia VIIIMDB is unreliable?

Art Museum Curator and frequent helper of the Web Original deprecation projectI don't see any mention of October there. It's official site says it was scheduled for November, so I'm not sure what's the deal here. They also have a youtube channel but I don't speak Korean.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupApril 1st, 2024 is the scheduled release date for when it premieres in the US, actually.
To answer your question, yes. Unlike Wikipedia, IMDb verifies what can and cannot be submitted. The problem is that it tends to consider any source as a legitimate submission, even the ones that came from rumors and speculation. They'll even submit sources that don't even exist at all. Then again, IMDb did start off as an independent company before being acquired by Amazon, but it makes it all the more embarrassing when you have stuff like these on a site owned by a billion dollar conglomerate.

"The name's Uzume Tennouboshi! Yeah, it's pretty badass, I know." - Uzume, Megadimension Neptunia VIII'd really like to get the standard Unreleased Works comment (as seen in the pinned post) approved and added to the Administrivia page before the end of the year.
This will probably need a Crowner to formalise it.
But, before we get to that point: are people happy with the current text? Do we want to amend it at all? Can it be more concise?
On a vaguely related note:
- The Administrivia page is "Upcoming" works
- The sandbox is "Future" works
- This thread is "Unreleased" works
Given that site search could be better, do we want to standardise all three on one word?
(Again, this may need a Crowner)
Over to you...
Let's wait for the Recap crowner to finish first, so we don't have two crowners going on about upcoming/future/unreleased works simultaneously.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.As were only two weeks away from 2024 I think we should update some of the works listed on the "Works that have significant publicly-released material but no announced release date" and "Works that may or may not have a release date, but lack any trope-worthy produced material whatsoever" folders on Future Works that were already released note , underwent a Release Date Change note or were (presumably) delayed from their scheduled release date note .
"The name's Uzume Tennouboshi! Yeah, it's pretty badass, I know." - Uzume, Megadimension Neptunia VIIAs the recap Crowner's now been called, I've created a new one for the terminology question.
Current options are as per the previous post, but we can add new suggestions in.

For what it's worth, as cancelled works that are never released still have to follow these rules, but are no longer 'future' or 'upcoming', I favour 'Unreleased'.
The word doesn't actually work that way. "Unreleased" purely means "not released".
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Okay, someone made a page for Literature. The Book Of Bill. Is that allowed? Is the pre-release stuff we have so far valid material for tropes?
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.
Okay, there is now a trailer for a movie coming out next year, but no release date. Just a general window of 2024. The rules say I need a season or month to make a page, yes?
The movie is Ultraman Rising, BTW.
Would a Sandbox page be acceptable?
