Unreleased Work Page Cleanup (Speculation, Spoilers, ZCE etc.)

Yeah, as I understand it, a heavy negative backlash that resulted in the creators taking concrete action to address it is the reaction being measured here, not whether they necessarily succeeded at it or not, though the nature of it is that it usually gets some degree of approval.

Ah, here is the old TRS on expanding the trope. There we evaluated that the revamped form of AST (the old and overly strict definition stipulated that an AST was when a popular status quo in a Long Runner was suddenly changed for the worse, leading to backlash that resets it back to the old version, which is too rare to trope by itself) that we are now supposed to operate under is about negative feedback to a work resulting in a change to the product or its continuation. Whether the change succeeds at fixing things or not is secondary and thus the latter game doesn't need to already be out for it to count, especially because the negative reaction that forms the basis of AST would have dated back to the previous entry.

Which is why the "AST is informally a post-release only trope" has been causing problems on multiple YMMV pages.

Thinking about it more, I think my actual concern is how do we know the saving throw works as advertised? Like, say, audiences complain about the lack of Character Customization, trailers seem to have customizable protagonists, but then they remove the mechanic before release or it was a Trailers Always Lie situation? That's an extreme but illustrative example.

I am not really a fan of removing restrictions just so people can immediately hype/complain on YMMV. We want less of that, not more.

At the least, I think prerelease examples can probably be brought up if they're coming from professional critics who received the finished product early as opposed to going off of extrapolation.

So Film.Black Panther Wakanda Forever could use a quick once over. Lot of speculative language and what not.

A page for the upcoming film Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning was created on July 30.

And whilst the film has a reveal trailer (linked to on the page) and the first 6 minutes have been released, and the work has a YMMV page with examples, the main work page has no examples on it.

I did send the person that made the page a stub warning message 6 days ago, but they haven't responded.

Does this look worth keeping on Trivia.In The Heights after the cancellation of Batgirl?

• Star-Making Role: Despite it's less than stellar box office, the positive reviews and particular acclaim for her performance have Leslie Grace a major profile boost and helped land her the title role in the Batgirl film in the DC Extended Universe shortly afterwards.

The cancellation of Batgirl negates the claim the example is trying to make.

"Implied to be" looks a lot like speculation to me.

There is gameplay footage on the teaser, and videos posted on the official site.

Unless I am missing what qualifies as "footage" (video, screenshots?).

Dating Sim needs to be cited, Slippy-Slidey Ice World reads like "it's snowing here" than "generic snowy level".

Improved both cases.

The lack of release date (we'll take seasons too eg. Summer 2023) is the main argument against the page at the moment. The Sandbox/ can stay but it can't be promoted to Video Game/ until then.

This part is a little bit unclear, the Administrivia page says:

• Video games (whether released on a console or online service) must either have pre-release material and release scheduling or gameplay footage.

We do have gameplay footage and pre-release material. The way I understand the above sentence (in boolean logic):

(pre-release material (TRUE) AND release date (FALSE))(FALSE) OR gameplay footage (TRUE) = true.

If this is not the case then the above sentence should be amended.

Sonic Frontiers needs a lot of scrubbing of uncited tropes. We may also need to be sending notifiers.

So some people are using the synopsis for Series.Wednesday as a source of tropes. It’s been happening and it continues to happen.

I’ve also seen this on VideoGame.New Tales From The Borderlands but I’ve been able to clean that up.

Also, the page for WesternAnimation.Transformers Earthspark could use a looking at.

I made a page for Film.The Invitation 2022, which "comes out tomorrow" but because Thursday previews I can drive down to my local cinema and watch it now. I trailer-talked the page anyway.

If you haven't yet seen it that's the right thing to do. That way you're not adding examples claiming to be about the work itself.

Okay so someone went on VideoGame.Lies Of P and talked about how it “appears” to be a spiritual successor to Bloodborne. I can take that off, right?

Just found there's a page for the now cancelled Batgirl movie (Script.Batgirl), despite the fact that aside from behind the scenes photos we don't have any promotional material for the film, and the film's script has never been leaked - despite the fact that the page is in the script namespace.

So I changed an entry in Film.Winnie The Pooh Blood And Honey because I thought it was unconfirmed. The guy who made the entry changed it back because it was confirmed by the director in an interview. That still doesn’t count right?
