OK, here's where this thread is standing, with the unlocking:
Given the widespread backlash and complaining about certain aspects of the work (i.e. Dexit), we wanted to communicate very clearly what we are not willing to put up with: prolonged, circular complaining (or wonking).
Of course, with a controversial subject that has a large impact on the gameplay, Dexit is in one of those areas where there it may be on-topic to discuss it, but the nature of that discussion can wildly vary. As has been said elsewhere, we ix-nayed discussion of Dexit entirely because it never seemed to happen without devolving into that kind of complaining.
However, we're willing to unlock the thread after this 3-day cooldown period because the Pokemon General thread has been stable enough. And -
Can I discuss Dexit?
Yes. But if there is prolonged wonking on it, the thread just becomes an echo chamber of complaints and we do not like that. No one likes that. The same rules as ever apply. Be a constructive, healthy space. Have conversations about what you like, and what you don't like, but the thread should not get locked into a series of bitter complaints.
If you have questions or concerns about mod implementation or action, we have a thread for that here.
Alright? Thank you all for waiting this out. I hope we're all good now.

When I first watched the Zarude trailer, I was watching the video with the sound off because I didn't want to wake up anyone else in the house and I was feeling too lazy to plug in my earphones. So when I first saw Zarude, I kept imagining it making the same sounds as a Rajang.
I spent a couple of hours trying to catch a shiny G-Max Charizard last night.
Didn't catch one in the end, but it's very nice that so many people in the community are using their time to host dens for everyone.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobSo, anyone want to make a group for a Mewtwo raid? We'll need stuff like Dusk Wings Necrozma, a Grimmsnarl who can put up a Light Screen via Prankster, and a Marshadow to take away Mewtwo's constant stat buffs.
I guess since Zarude's role in the movie is a hot topic.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru! The thing is if movie's canon from the legendary is the same as on the games,or He is just shoehorned for promotional purposes.
Just sad me like the Lucario movie : We just created all that backstory for the movie that will be never touched ever on the games.
Same for a lot of other examples like Diancie.

...
It is a movie with characters, not lore about a species.
Yeah, the anime and games are 2 separate things. Whatever happens in the anime, never count it happening in the games.
Goddammit, Schezo...And the opposite is in effect too: whatever happens in the games, sometimes it will happen in the anime such as battling Gym Leaders, but other than that nothing is guaranteed. We never see Ash have to contend with pushing boulders around with any of his Pokemon using Strength, for example.

As I saw in a reddit post about it, Zarude is weak to Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, Fighting, Fairy, and ×4 Bug.
It better hope it leans to being a Glass Cannon or Lightning Bruiser, because the odds are stacked against it on the defensive side

Silence is golden, noise is platinum. Keelah se'laiI assume legend raids will be more common in the DLC, so I'm not gonna sweat over beating Mewtwo yet. Guess I'll actually have to work with people in order to do them though.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.Right now, it takes a very specific team to get through it. Closest I got was a team of Dusk Wing Necrozma, Grimmsnarl, Marshadow, and Clefable. Necrozma focused on dealing raw damage, Grimmsnarl put up Light Screen, Marshadow used its punches to steal Mewtwo's stat buffs away, and Clefable used Life Dew to keep the team from dying. Even then, there was always the matter of Mewtwo wailing on Marshadow, and people freezing up.
I hope future legendary bosses aren't so damn limiting on strategies that can work. Or at least maybe not have so many extra moves in one turn.

Its funny because this is the opposite complaint people have been having about raids; they were too easy and all could be beute forces post endgame. Now that they have bite back, everyone has to scramble to strategize.
I will say this though: the hardest part so far has been not knowing which build your fighting against begore the raid starts. Physical Mewtwo can run Brick Break, so it may not be worth keeping light clay screens, but it works wonders on the other 2. On the other hand, 2 variants don't have the barriers up at the start, allowing for a 1st turn taunt or twave, but the calm mind variant does, which would block those attacks as long as its up. I think the atruggle and suffering is fine, but a way to figure out what you are diving into would be nice.
I'd sooner go with too easy and just farm for rewards than face something that's often unbeatable.
Sounds a lot like the whole Necrozma fight in the Ultra games - the rest of the game is really, really easy and doesn't ease you into any sort of challenge well, so when one finally gets thrown at you you're unprepared for it, especially in something as chaotic and RNG heavy as these raid battles.
Just caught a shiny Gothitelle in a Max Raid. Good thing I did the research before I left that thing alone as I do with all other raids. Probably gonna keep it as trade goods or something.
The Necrozma anology is pretty accurate, with one big difference; this is optional rather than mandatory. That being said, I'd like to consider this a prelude to the Crowned Tundra DLC, which has been advertised as a way to get legends through more max raids. Pokemon like Kyogre, Kyurem, and the Tapus all seem like they will get a similar treatment.
At least with stuff like Ghetsis, you could restart as many times as you'd like, any time, and you could grind for levels. Here, you need three other people to bring the right kinds of Pokemon, and you just need to be lucky with Mewtwo not striking at the worst possible targets.
Oh gosh, I hope they don't make the legendaries in the DLC quite this hard. I'm all for a decent challenge, but they should at least make it feasible to solo them.
Or, again, at least make it so that you aren't locked into a specific set of legendary or otherwise overpowered Pokemon just to whittle it down to half-health.
I too am hoping only Mewtwo will be this tough, what with its whole "created to be the most powerful Pokemon" sctick, and that the other legendaries will be more manageable.
Mewtwo feels even crueler than Shin Megami Tensei bosses.
Okay, so... It's really late here, but I've done some tests with a couple of partners and we came up with a general strategy that has consistently worked for all Mewtwo variants (Calm Mind, Nasty Plot and Bulk Up).
We've been using:
- A support Clefable with Follow Me/Light Screen/Reflect/Life Dew, using Wiki Berry OR a Prankster Grimmsnarl with Thunder Wave/Light Screen/Reflect/Taunt
- A Wide Guard support (in our case, Lunala) with Leftovers
- Marshadow for Spectral Thief to steal Mewtwo's boosts
- An offensive tank responsible for the damage along with Marshadow (in our case, Dawn Wings Necrozma with Assault Vest, but could be Lunala as well)
General plan is setting up screens according to what Mewtwo brings up (a physical or a special set), then Follow Me, along with Wide Guard to deflect spread attacks (e.g.: Blizzard, Earthquake) and protect the tank and especially Marshadow so they can freely attack. Marshadow steals boosts so Mewtwo doesn't get too strong. If running Grimm, a Thunder Wave or Taunt before shields are up are great too. I can work on exact spreads later if you want.
Edit: Oh, and don't forget your Max Potions and Full Restores. Conserving HP is actually important for this battle. And yes, it still takes a lot of coordination to work out. Not easy to achieve with randos.

... And that's called jazz!I can imagine certain legends won't be this bad if they were to do events like this ever again. Some legends aren't that great in the grand scheme of things.
God help us if we get, like, Dynamax Kyogre fights, tho.
Goddammit, Schezo...Quagsire hype in that case.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.Remember that these Mewtwos are level 100, while other raids cap at level 60-70.
Catchable legends will likely be lower leveled.
Probably they live in secluded areas and their violence makes them pretty much inaccessible. But still, they don't seem to have anything special about them that non-Mythicals would lack. But let's see if the movie can address that.
