I'm thinking outliving all his friends (especially Fluttershy) will have something to do with his current behavior.
Well to be fair Discord was never stated to be immortal, he has lived for pretty long but that could just mean that he has a pretty long live span not that he's immortal.
That cover makes it look as if he and Sunny were going to fight but as we all know covers always lie.
Sure, I'll incorporate that into my belief system.
Plus it's a "retail incentive" cover, meaning it may have nothing whatsoever to do with the actual story.
Though as long as we're speculating, there is one other possibility: Discord originally was immortal, but switched that off after Fluttershy died so that he could follow her to wherever she may go.
Suicide sounds way too dark for a my little pony character
Maybe the removal of magic in Equestria affected him, to the point where he actually began to physically age.
He looks very Jim Henson in a way I can't quite put my finger on, and wouldn't look totally out of place in something like The Dark Crystal or Labyrinth.

Well, in most works forgoing immortality is not treated as equivalent to conventional suicide. Though given the strict Never Say "Die" policy in effect for the My Little Pony franchise, it's still highly unlikely that they'd go there (though not entirely inconceivable, what with Sunny's father).

Yeah but that was off-screen and only implied, they still really circle around the subject of death, which makes them look like pansies in my opinion considering that even sesame street had the balls of confronting death head-on.
Tell Your Tale - Alicorn Issues
So Sunny is like a (sort of) Henshin Hero.
Scar himself looks like foreign, weak, and with very female moves.Second comic's out. It was a lot to talk about and big reveals about the backstory. Some questions:
- Discord had a separate character folder added to the G5 character page for their G5 exclusive tropes. Do we want their G5 portrayal separate from their FIM pages.
- We seem to be referring to the Shadowy Alicorn as a unicorn back in the FIM era. How do we know that? It possible they were already an alicorn but hiding it (Discord just said they were a pony), their unicorn supremacy beliefs just being lies for their plan. I'd say it would make more sense they were/became an alicorn before the restrictions on magic.
- In light of what's revealed, it worth reconsidering the wait on adding Fanon Discontinuity? We previously agreed to wait until Season 1's end to see if it addressed the issues, but the comic did some very big addressing which is seems likely to be show canon as the Shadowy Alicorn's appearance means there's higher levels of coordination between them.

People are already annoyed at how Discord explains that the magic was taken away and how Equestria fell apart. A huge portion of the series finale was getting the tribes to work together again and be stronger than before, and then, in the Mane Six's lifetime, they all start to hate each other again. Happy Ending Override doesn't even begin to cover the amount of chain-yanking the comics use.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.I get they wanted to set up the ultimate failure later on but making it so that not even a decade after peace is achieve everything goes to shit feels really chain-yanking and makes the Mane Six's efforts damn near pointless and there's the little cliffhanger of the G4 comics with the Three Stooges getting freed up which could mean the heroes accomplished nothing in the long run besides banishing the Wendigoes.
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."Things were actually shown to have settled down after Twilight created the crystals. Whatever happened to seperate the ponies so completely came later.
assuming the three stooges are who I think they are, at least we prolly won't have to suffer any more "Does Cozy Glow really have to spend eternity as a not quite lifeless statue in hell" discourse
but yeah this feels like a massive rug pull besides

Might be continuity error unless I'm misremembering but the comic implies that a century or two passed between Fi M and G5. But wasn't G4 referred to as ancient Equestria, meaning at least a millennium before A New Generation? A hundred to two hundred years isn't exactly ancient.
I still say we should wait until Season 1 is done. Like I said before, nothing has really happened and there's a chance that the series might override what the comic established.
As for G5 Discord, I don't see why not considering Sombra also has two separate folders.
Scar himself looks like foreign, weak, and with very female moves.I wouldn't call that a continuity error. "Ancient" is not a scientific unit of measurement.
I mean, you wouldn't call 1822 America ancient. Also, I could've sworned I read that G5 takes place 1,500 years after Fi M.
Scar himself looks like foreign, weak, and with very female moves.I don't recall 1500 years being stated. What was stated was A New Generation decided against establishing and exact time skip. ANG noted it was suspicious everypony stopped remembering pre-divide history and showed the current locations were established before they forgot/became divided. Yes it would be disappointing if it happens just a century or so after but possible given the implied artificial intervention to erase such.
Also, how is Sunny so familiar with the G4 cast/setting but not able to recognize the star symbol as Twilight's cutie mark?
So move G5's "The Guardians of Harmony" folder to Characters.Friendship Is Magic The Mane Cast and "Discord" folder to Characters.Friendship Is Magic Discord?
And thought's about holding off on adding Fanon Discontinuity until the first season's out? Has the comic's reveal's changed that?

What really pisses me off is that Twilight Sparkle basically threatened the ponies that they are gonna lose their magic if they do not behave. This is the same bullcrap what Sombra and Starlight Glimmer committed, they used ponies' fear to control them. I guess it is ok as long the hero does it.
They already had the windigos and death by freezing to fear. How is falling into an endless void supposed to fix anything?
I like to eat poopYou would think that after the events of "The Ending of the End", Twilight could deal with one pony spreading racist BS without taking drastic measures.
She probably didn't want to but as a drastic measure it was a last resort
New theme music also a boxAlthough, what are the chances that G5, generally speaking, would acknowledge Equestria Girls? Will we get a new version of that brand?
Scar himself looks like foreign, weak, and with very female moves.
I see people are speculating that maybe the loss of magic caused him to physically age. Perhaps it also caused his return to villainy.
