"Thanks, crew. I didn't expect him to be so... threatening, but we'll stop him if he gets in our way again."

"But for now... we should start looking for the first piece of the Egg. And what's taking Zeke and Duane so long?"

The chest smirks.

Klamptrap:   Maybe those two are kissing behind our backs! But joking aside we should start the search with this: if you had to hide a piece of the egg, where would you hide it?   

While the rest of the crew is discussing matters, Tom goes over towards the counter of the pawn shop to pay for the weapon in his hands. At least in theory, he's not sure how much they intend to overprice it yet. Assuming someone is already present, he'll speak to them as he approaches.

"How much is it for this old weapon? And, has anyone come in talking about a 'legendary egg' recently?"

Duane pops in at this point. Hey, Melvin! I didn't think you guys were gonna start yet... or take the kids. Huh. He notes something to himself.

Anywho, sorry for the hold-up I guess. Zeke and I were busy kissing.

"DUANE!"

Melvin runs over and scoops the tiny rat up in his arms.

"Thank Neptune you're here. We just had kind of a nasty encounter with that lass's captain," he says, pointing at Jane. "He's worse than I thought."

"It didn't get violent, but now I'm embarrassed, cous. I tried to stand up for my crew, but some of them wound up standing up for me."

Duane snickers. Melvin, ya big dummy, that's great! Not only did you prove to all of them that you weren't chicken-shit, they proved to you that they were willing to back ya! That's the stuffs of a good crew if I'd ever seen one!

Duane looks around the room. Who did it, Cous? Which ones stood up for ya in the face of danger?! He says danger with a level of gravelly "venturousness".

Entering swiftly after Duane, Ezekiel looks like he's about to shed his mortal shell in sheer annoyance at Duane. Grumbling to himself, he's about to make a retort before Melvin scoops Duane up and starts off about what they'd missed.

"So Funnybones was here, then," he says, mostly to himself. He eyes Jane; so that where he knew her from. Peering out the pawn shop window for a second, he steps closer to Jane. "Where did he run off to, did you see? His ship should still be here, I may be able to..." He stops himself before he ends up mouthing off about his privateering, also remembering he lacks his own crew with which to chase that detestable skeleton down.

"...he was your old captain, yes," he asks Jane, hungry for information about the Funnybones and curious as to her exact relation to them. "How...was that?"

The shopkeeper quits picking at his teeth and inspects the gun this plain-looking stranger has brought over to him. "… This lil' ol' number is gonna cost ya 85 phillngs. And I ain't here nuthin' much about no 'egg.' Try asking 'round the market er sumfin? Got me beat." He admits with a shrug.

"Well..." Melvin points at Jane, Ira, and Tom. "These three did the most legwork, admittedly. I don't want to discount anyone, though..."

Well, clearly you three scared him out, so much applause, my friends. Dave Jones trembles upon hearing your names!

A tall, young, particularly unenthused young lad with slightly-better-than-average clothing is poking at a gem of no particular value.

He seems like he's a prime candidate for joining the crew, as long as it provokes his interest enough.

"I see... here's the money."

Tom reaches inside his jerkin and pulls out a pouch, from which he extracts the exact cost of the weapon to put on the counter. He's not sure how much further use the thing will get him, but it seems to still have some use just as a threat of violence. Not that he intends to use it unless necessary, of course. Once that's handled, he moves back over towards Melvin and co.

"Well, bad news is he didn't have anything. Good news is that probably means there's no hot contest for it."

Heh heh, like I said, we’ll be ready for him if he shows up again and tries any other funny business. (Ira says.)

(He steps back a bit and bumps the fellow examining the gem.) Oop- excuse me, sir. (Ira quickly apologizes.)

Melvin is intrigued by the newcomer. "Hello there. What's your name?"

The... Teen? Guy? Dude. The Dude gets bumped back a bit farther than Ira, but recovers rather fast.

"Oh, it's not problem. Just looking at this gem. It looks similar to a sketch of this "Super duper egg samwich" sort of thing, but it's totally fake. My god, I can see scuff marks from when someone tried to polish it up. Cheap, if you ask me. As for my name, I'm Dave. It's not much, but it's a name."

"'Egg samwich'?" Parada mutters, half to herself.

Well, nice to meet you, Dave! You can call me Ira. (Ira says. He looks a little confused for a moment.) ...I've never heard of a gem called an egg sandwich before.

Gabrielle raises and eyebrow at Dave.

"Hey, uh, do you mind if I take a closer look at that gem?"

Duane takes to the new guy. I had a History teacher named Dave! Great guy, one of my favorites. Coulda been a history teacher, if I wanted. So, you don't know about the Legendary Egg?

Duane's manner of conversation feels as if he was latching toward anything to talk. However, it also partly seems as if he'd wanted to talk about it. Duane's talking is an enigma, what can I say?

"Good to meet you, Ira."

He then steps back, allowing Gabrielle to take a closer look, before turning his attention to Duane.

"Ah, that's what it was called. I'd heard some stories about it here or there, but not all that much. It's only when a buddy said there was supposedly a fragment at a local pawnshop that I decided to take a look. But it barely looks like the description or the sketch he gave me. Got me out of the house for nothing."

Gabrielle pulls her hood down and takes a closer look at the gem Dave is looking at, holding it in her hands. She's surprised by how light it is. It's a milky yellow color, like a cooked egg yolk, which was probably where the "egg sandwich" nickname came from.

Egg sandwich...

Judging by the dull finish and rough edges, it had never been cut. There are no bubbles or nicks, barring the scuff marks of course.

"Dave... I think it's a real gemstone."

Dave is staggered.

"Wait, really? It must be completely uncut if it is a real stone."

No wonder they call it an egg sandwich. (Ira remarks as he looks at the stone.)

Speaking of eggs, anyone asked anybody else about the egg shards yet? (He asks the others.)

"No, it's completely uncut. See? They didn't even bother to try and clean up the edges before polishing it... hell, looks like they didn't cut it even after."

Gabrielle hands Dan back the gem.

"It's real, that's for damn sure, but I have no damn clue if it's the 'egg sandwich' you're looking for."

"Egg sandwich"... the Legendary Egg... scattered shards...

"Hey, uh, Ira? Can you drag Duane over here?"
