Well there this isekai called Isekai Shikkaku, MC is the real life Osamu Dazai, a writer who double suicide with his lover only to end up in another world. He is hoping to find his lover in this world and double suicide again. The guy is very suicidal.

Depends what you mean by fresh take. There's a lot of reincarnated as an inanimate object type stories out there. There's several villainess isekai that decide to delve into medieval politics and trade rather than hunky boys in high school. There's even one isekai about some British children meeting furry Jesus and getting weapons from Santa, though the ending of that one was controversial.

[up][up] That seems more than a bit... bad. Using a real person, I mean.

I don't know exactly what you mean by "fresh take" either, but I love The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World for the genre-blending, so maybe that's the sort of thing you're looking for.

Well the guy isn't the only one who got transported to this world, there are many more other, each with their own cheat skill, except for the MC. He mostly solve the problem by him wanting to die( the first enemy he defeated is a tree that trying to drain his nutrition, only end up dying cause the MC took a lot of sleeping pill and cigarettes). Other people from the other world kinda do their own things, but when the demon king got defeated, some of them turned on the population.

Of the inanimate variety, i saw the one where the MC became a sword and one where the MC was a vending machine.

But speaking of Villainess Isekais, are there one's where the setting isn't an Otome? Though i do enjoy good Otome Isekais.

Also, ones where the MC embraces being the villainess instead of just trying to avoid a bad ending.

For that last one there's Jishou Akuyaku Reijou Na Konyakusha No Kansatsu Kiroku...with the twist that the viewpoint character is the male lead love interest, and the girl who reincarnated into the "villainess" role is incredibly bad at being one despite her best efforts because she's too good-natured a person to really pull it off.

[up]x3 there was one webnovel that I remember was pretty popular before it went on haitus where the female lead was in a shoujo manga, Kenkyuu or something. I dropped it because I found it overwhelmingly boring though.

I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boys

There are a fair number is villainess stories that take place in a novel or aren't isekai at all. Some use the villainess theme but instead make the MC a supporting or mob character from the novel.

For embracing being a villain, I enjoy I Will Become A Villainess That Will Go Down In History about a girl reincarnating into the villainess of an otome game and being ecstatic because she loved the character and hated the heroine, so she's thrilled at the chance to bully her. But a proper villainess needs to be a good rival, right? And can't just stoop to crude insults. It starts off comedic but gets more serious when the heroine is introduced and you see why the MC doesn't like her. The MC is more of a pragmatic hero while the heroine is ridiculously out of place in the setting with her sunshine and rainbows ideals that are completely at odds with reality, but is also in a very powerful cultural position and unnervingly influential, so the MC is trying to get her to see reason by acting as an antagonist to her.

I also enjoy Death Is The Only Ending For The Villainess along those lines because the MC is trying to avoid death but she can't really be considered a good person, nor is she really doing good things. She's just trying to survive through a world that's pretty terrible for her but is surrounded by assholes. It's a good character piece because even the assholes are understandable and you can see the MC is partially responsible for her own bad relationships because she's very flawed.

So i finally read that Isekai Mob and i find it enjoyable. However i really dislike Olivia for some reason. Maybe because she such a painful generic nice girl doormat, even in the original route she seem pretty much the same. Worse is that she surrounded by far more engaging characters which make her doormat status even more noticeable.

The whole cast is kind of boring, really. The thing that strikes me about Olivia is that she doesn't feel like an otome game heroine but rather a shounen love interest. She looks like one too. And the way the writer approaches the capture targets make me feel like they've never actually played an otome game and don't like them.

I find most Otome Villainess that have female MC kinda boring since once the the MC figure out/remember their past life they immediately turned into fangirl or generic cute girl.

@Sword Sking Story dude: I have read it. I love it. The action is great, and the humor is fucking hilarious.

For those that think Mushoku Tensei is too lude, The Beginning After the End is a cool subsitute, and is considered to be Mushoku's Tensei's ediger younger brother in that sense.

Chapter 9 of Villainess Level 99...

Well, not much happened. It's summer vacation and Yumiela is still training with Patrick and trying to learn to hold back. XD

But towards the end, we see that Alicia seems to want to get to know Yumiela better. I'm rather curious to see how that will go. Yumiela is a weirdo, but she never struck me as the kind of person who holds grudges.

The manga seems to be spending more effort on her than the novel did, which is definitely to its credit.

I've also picked up Jigoku No Gouka De Yaka Re Tsuzuketa Shounen.

It's not exactly a straightforward isekai as the story is more like Rip van Winkle, but essentially the protagonist, Flare, is selected to be the sacrifice to subdue the fires of Hell for 1,000 years. But contrary to expectations, he survives his Fate Worse than Death and quenches the flames entirely by absorbing them to create a new body for himself. Now a Fish out of Temporal Water, he decides to explore the world outside of the village he lived in for the first time along with a fugitive princess and her obsessively protective bodyguard.

Flare is a Stock Shōnen Hero, but in a genre where the protagonists are all hypercompetent people with huge ambitions or end up ruling entire countries, his sunniness and sincerity as well as the simplicity of his superpowers is honestly refreshing. The art of the manga adaptation is strong and the plot, while simple and fairly paint by the numbers, still has that fresh adventure vibe like the early days of Fairy Tail or One Piece.

My main gripe is the fact that the bodyguard, Aishera, is an annoying Psycho Lesbian who rarely stops fantasizing about being alone with the princess when she's not needling Flare for things that aren't his fault. The antagonists, the Church of Angels, seem to be evil just because thus far, but I'd need to find more of the stuff translated before I draw any conclusions.
