Those are the most feminine interpretations of those two gods I've ever seen in my life and I've seen outright female versions of them.

I think Odin wanted a Nice Hat considering that Krishna got one recently.

Gotta wonder what mythology is gonna be added next.

That's all they're adding. But god knows what will happen in WO5, since they still have the SW Spirit of Sanada and DW 9 characters to work on. Or an expansion.

[up] They're gonna add more gods and monsters, I think.

As I said, by Warriors Orochi X, it'll just be SMT Musou.

I really don't want any DW 9 characters in.

Or just Xiahou Ji specifically.

A variant of Zhen Ji's flute, of course.

So the game's out now and I've played a whole lot of it.

Lot of really fun stuff, mixing SW 4 and DW 8 characters is fun considering how different Hyper Attacks make them from eachother.

But holy shit do we really need four seperate super meters. You got your magic gauge, your unity magic gauge which is completely different, your standard Musou gauge and your rage gauge! And you have three characters, so that's three separate musou gauges to keep track of! With each character's health I am having to deal with nine different meters at any given time!

Seriously though those magic attacks are hilariously over the top I love it.

Playing the game in a slow pace, I like this thing. Still, it reminds me why I am so fucking annoyed at Himiko.

She's pretty flat in an annoying way, who's only in saying "Da Ji is the coolest and you all suck for bullying her!"

...

Bully!? That Da Ji bitch was the one bullying and tricking me all the while! Horrible Judge of Character doesn't even begin to describe Himiko and this is why I am so done with her.

This is just idiotic, at least even when Masamune and Keiji were being bros with Orochi, Orochi has been hinted to be a bit more sympathetic and then it was proven in 3 and Ultimate with the introduction of Shuten Douji and Yinglong. Da Ji is portrayed to be an evil manipulative bitch who likes evil for the sake of it, and Himiko just goes blind fangirl on that.

Ugh, gimme Naotora being shy moeblob all day (despite me being OK with it) over Himiko fangirling Da Ji... This girl goes to the level of Bratty Half-Pint.

Nah, Himiko's incredibly naive adoration of her insanely sinister "Big sis" is hilariously endearing to me. It helps that Da Ji does have genuine affection for her.

Naotora pisses me off particularly here because she seems to have "Infected" Guan Yinping with her personality a bit. Probably because of Naotara's incredible popularity among otaku. In DW 8 Yinping certainly didn't know her own strength but it was understated and mostly used for comedy, not an excuse to turn her into a moeblob. It's not too bad I guess, a lot of her dialogue in camp convos is still funny.

Playing this simultaneously with finishing off some of the campaigns in Samurai Warriors reminds me of one of the reasons I prefer the Orochi series; that it's much Lighter and Softer. The string of Downer Ending after Downer Ending in 4-II thanks to the closer adherence to actual history gets pretty exhausting.

I don't think Yinping was being too much of a shy moeblob. Even without Naotora's influence, I think she has been quite like that in the beginning. I mean, being a newbie, naive young daughter of Guan Yu, you wouldn't expect her to be super confident, right? She's fine, but I don't think I see stuffs from Naotora on her. Maybe it's just me?

Well, a food to one is a poison to another. I used to rage, hard, against Masamune and Keiji when they were being Orochi fanboys, but when they developed Orochi to be more tragic, I started to be more accepting on them. When the same issue is given to Himiko, it just didn't work out to me. I don't find any endearment, just my urge to yell "Shut up about your oh-so-great senpai, you little idiotic pipsqueak!"

(As stated, it's her choice of worshipping figure that makes her irritating, since Koei has been dead set to make Da Ji not tragic like Orochi. I don't mean to say that Da Ji should be tragic, but when you 'worship' Obviously Evil people like that, my 'What An Idiot' sense is tingling)

Well, outside that.

I noticed that this game is basically Yukimura's time to shine, finally. He was just a supporting cast for the Shu story in 1 (Zhao Yun took on the majority of protagonism there), I forgot what he's doing in 2, but none of the story is about him (I think he's in the Samurai story? If so, then he's reduced again because Sakon was the protag there). 3 was about the trio of Ma Chao, Sima Zhao and Hanbei. It's just this time that Yukimura probably took the top billing, since he's probably the most influential with the relations with Perseus/Loki. For someone who's the poster boy of Samurai Warriors, it's just now I noticed how underused he was in the past games.

Well with Guan Yinping she went from "Does not realize she's very powerful" which is understandable when your father is Guan Yu and your brother is Guan Ping to "Thinks she's really weak" and that difference is definitely a backslide in my opinion. I also never thought she was shy exactly, then or now. But her and Naotora deification scenes are practically indistinguishable.

I find her choice of patron goddess kinda funny, since in a game about war they emphasize that a goddess of love was what she channeled... But Freya was also a goddess of war which they really should have emphasized too.

Da Ji I find has gotten as many humanizing (For lack of a better word. She is a fox.) moments as Orochi, she just still happens to be an unrepentant troublemaker.

I was going to say something about how Yukimura really doesn't need any time to shine (The guy had his own dedicated game for crying out loud.) but you're right about him not getting a huge amount of screentime in the previous Orochi games. I miss when he was voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch.

Honestly I thought it was a rather interesting side of Yinping. She always remained oblivious about things, only believing that anything can be solved as long as there's more muscles in her. But then, I remember that Yukimura advised her that "Battles aren't won with muscles, but with spirit." I guess around that time, she started analyzing what else she has outside her physical strength that she didn't realize... and thought aside of strength, she could be really lacking. So if she got a hit in confidence because of it, I can understand.

And... well it didn't help that she ends up getting pitted against her friends, some has been given deification superpower, and two of her brothers, that not even her muscles or 'War God' daddy can solve (let's not derail this on comparison of historical Guan Yu. I got sick of that already) AND THEN the reveal about Perseus/Loki. Yinping is a naive, innocent girl, getting hit on that like a truck would deal a severe blow on her confidence, so I'm not that mad if she showed a bit of angst.

Probably just my headcanon.

I have to admit, compared to Naotora's deification scene, Yinping's got the build up to make it make sense. Even if I can sense on Naotora's dedication to Ieyasu, the way she activated the deification just felt a bit... random?

Not bad. Personally waiting for a WO4 Ultimate though. Maybe even a next gen port. One of these generations they'll shed the framerate issues, I'm sure of it.

Koei Tecmo is teasing an announcement for August 29, with it seemingly being Warriors Orochi-related.

More info here and here.

With the tagline "Wield the Power of the Gods Once More…" and the use of feathers, I wonder if it'll be an Updated Re-release for 4 or something...?

[up] Warriors Orochi 3 had a few Updated Rereleases, so I wouldn't be surprised if 4 gets the same treatment.

Since the Switch port of Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate probably isn't coming westward any time soon (even though Dynasty Warriors 8 on Switch indicates otherwise), I would hope a WO4 update just brings back all the guest characters from 3 that were left out.

This is not the greatest signature in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
