I wonder what was the inspiration for the Umbrella Corporation?

You mean from a developer/story writing perspective or within the RE universe?

I believe the company was just a front since the very beginning. That or it started as a legit pharma company and then Ozwell said "fuck that, gimmie my immorality NAO!"

[up][up]

The founding of Umbrella Pharmaceuticals traces its origins to the writings of Henry Travis, author of the 19th century encyclopedia Natural History Conspectus. Drs. Oswell E. Spencer and James Marcus were intrigued by his account of the Ndipaya of West Africa, who's folklore described a flower which could imbue unto them great powers. Heading out on an expedition with Marcus' student Brandon Bailey, the three obtained the flowers, which they found to contain a mutagenic virus later known as Progenitor.[2] Spencer made it his life goal to ensure the genesis of a new race of humans through this virus,[3] and established Umbrella Pharmaceuticals in 1967 alongside Marcus and their mutual friend Dr. Edward Ashford. The main goal of the company was to ensure Spencer's goal through Progenitor research by Marcus and Bailey; the secondary goal was to create bio-weapons as a proof-of-concept and then sell them for research money.[3] The public face of Umbrella Pharmaceuticals was as an ordinary medicines manufacturer.

Probably because the zombie situation being manufactured by man instead of being a natural disease is surprisingly unique.

So, I'm randomly checking out a long play of Parasite Eve, and it dawns on me that it could easily crossover with RE, especially the early games since PE takes place in 1997 and the first 3 games all take place in 1998. Even Code Veronica is only a few months after the events of 2 and 3.

Hell, they even have near identical abbreviations: PE and RE. You can link the Umbrella Corps experiments with Mitochrondia Eve (maybe say that evil scientist Klaus used to work with Umbrella), and the way they mutate people and animals is similar to the T / G / C / insert random letter from the Alphabet here Virus.

...It works surprisingly well, and totally justifies my real reason for suggesting this: Aya Brea vs Ada Wong Cat Fight.

....

What? One wears a Little Black Dress. The other a Red Cheong-Sam (though not officially until the fourth game.

Right. Not defending myself well here, but it's not the first time I got an interesting idea for really dumb and silly reasons.

Mithocondria Eve is kind of similar to the T-Veronica virus. Hell, the antagonist of the first game and Code Veronica share a few similarities.

Come to think of it, they kinda are.

Plus, Eve is one of the things most Bio-Terrorists have been looking for for a while: a way to control the mutations. The Plagas, C and A Viruses did that, but Eve could flat out make someone mutate.

If you put that shit with some of the numerous viral spin-offs, who knows what you could get.

Eve might also be a little similar to [[Eveline from the Seventh game.

They have the same damn name even, and both control their respective mutants.

Eveline is more of an obvious Alma Wade expy than a Mithocondria Eve one.

Ehh, having Aya fighting Ada seems like forced Fanservice. Not to mention that the mess caused in the Parasite Eve games seems more of a natural scale rather than a man made one. And you also have the other issue of Aya trying to explain to the RE heroes how she is totally normal in spite of her ability to shoot fireballs, heal herself, and shooting a huge fucking beam of energy in one bullet.

I did admit there was a bit of Fanservice in it remember.cool

There are obviously a lot of kinks to iron out to prevent Aya from breaking the RE world too quickly.

That being said, the symbiosis of her own Mitochondria in her body means she's a better Super-Soldier than Wesker. After all she doesn't need to take any fancy drugs to keep from mutating.

Still, it'd be interesting to see someone try. Once you get around the super powers Aya gets, I really think it works.

[up] We technically have Manuela Hidalgo as the Aya stand-in since her blood is flammable.

That and Sherry, Jake, Jill and probably Ethan and Mia have developed superpowers too, even if they aren't as flashy.

[up][up][up]The RE heroes have been shown as being accepting of people with mutations before. See Jill, Piers and Jake. If Aya can convince the RE gang she's a good person they won't hold her mutations against her.
